Another great interview with info of such importance by Cholly Rock! Always with an impeccable memory, graciousness and integrity to his own experiences. One thing I have to say is it just seems to me that DR Colon questions and interests always comes off very race based and race centered while Cholly Rock just not focused so much about race but more about the History for History sake which is how I think History should always be documented. Regardless Thank you both for another great interview
Dr Colon what a great interview Shout out to Cholly Rock I hope you can get a indepth interview with Smokey I bet he would bring alot of information that many people dont know about Dr Colon is their any chance that you could do a show dedicated to the history Puerto Rican DJs i would love to know more about Tex Hollywood and DJ Junebug
Anyone with a brain who is honest can see that Hiphop in its earliest days comes primarily out of the black American community with ppl of nother nationalities mainly PRs and other Afro Caribbeans not just involved but major players in creating this culture since the very beginning. Yes it was primarily Black/African Americans and Yes PRs and other Afro Caribbeans were involved end of story end of debate get over it ..let’s move on guys

RSC comes from TBB. Crazy Legs' main inspiration, is Lenny Len (his cousin), who is hanging with The Rockwell Association. The Zulu Kings (Chopper, Robbie Rob, etc), hung at 129. The Zulu Kings, are contemporaries with the rest of the FOUNDATIONAL B-Boy Crews (TBB, RWA, Starchild LaRock, Sal Soul, etc)
@42blackflag @Malik Bey @chinablack Hip-Hop was never Black CULTURE. Cholly says "in the beginning, it was Black Culture". Then says "it starts with Herc, Flash, and Bam!!!" Bow down to my CULTURE son!!! There's no PIONEER in Hip-Hop CULTURE, that's Black. Just Black followers.
Very excellent interview, but can you please get us an interview with Smokey in order to learn more about who these Smoke-A-Trons and Lock-A-Trons were and the origin of the idea of a sheet of paper underneath the vinyl record which Grandmaster Flash copied from Smokey. I am also looking forward to finally investigating more about Smokey's parents and whether they are Puerto Ricans or Dominicans. Thank you.
Say AlleKat thats true for some PRS in regards to Dominicans but i think thats its been over exgaggerated i m a native New Yorker back in the day and i saw alot of Puerto Ricans hanging with Dominicans my first lady was and Dominican and Puerto Rican

PRS dont get along with dominicans, get my drift. This is why there is so much confusion about the origins of hiphop.Too much tribalism going on.
