Glad to see a Gladiator represented on this trip!

Me, too. But Travis has several different rental rigs in his business. I was hoping he'd choose the Power Wagon for this trip.

@@DxDOverland , understood but because the Gladiator gets mixed reviews for it’s long wheelbase and break over angle, I enjoy seeing more videos with them proving the naysayers wrong.

Yeah, I've been mulling over another trip with my Gladiator. Problem is, I eat better with the Wrangler, which has a real galley area.

Looks like you, Kitt and the gang had a great time. That square body Chevy is pretty badass!

We sure did. And Tad's trucks (he had another before this one) are always popular when they show up in my videos.

Nothing like putting in a lot of miles & really not getting that far. Nice seeing all those switchbacks Until my cheeks were starting to get sore from such steep cliff edges. Lovely views, camera work & narration. So good that I felt like I was right there riding with y'all, just without the Happy dog drooling on my shoulder.
Looking forward to seeing where you take us next.

Great looking rigs! I saw you in the Westin pass burn area while I was doing the BDR on my 500 EXC.

Nice. That must be quite an experience on bikes. I'll be uploading that video this morning.

The area you drove through on this leg of your trip has many backcountry skiing cabins. I have winter skied in most of the huts over the years. They are known as the Tenth Mountain hut system after the Tenth Mountain ski troop of World War II that trained at Camp Hale which is located down the road from Leadville. Beautiful area.

I used to have a 76 Ford Bronco that would overheat during 4wd trips or when the engine was working hard. After checking it out and not finding any mechanical problems I talked to a friend who enlightened me with a solution.
He said that the Radiator and Oil Cooler were packed with dirt and debris from the trails. After every trip I pressure wash the entire cooling system, it was some good advice...

I've seen that happen. I'll discuss more what's going on with the relay, along with photos of the damage, in the Studio Chat after day 6 video.

I'll get the answer or ask Kitt to respond here.

The bumper on the Black-n-Tan is from BAMF or Bay Area Manufacturing Fabricator www.bayareametalfab.com/ this one is all steel however they now make a Aluminum version. If you need one I plan on selling this one and replacing it with something a touch different? Where are you located I can recommend a manufacturer based on your area….

Michael, can you see Kitt's answer? I can't, but Kitt sent me an image of this discussion with his post and both of my priors.

I believe Kitt is running the Relentless fab predator winch bumper. Mark, I can't see Kitt reply.

so it looks like a good 4wd vehicle can make it no problem .What about towing an Off grid trailer weighing in at 2800lbs? I don't see any issues with all the roads you show.

I have an interesting answer to that. We ended at Lake City because of the rockfall. A few months later, I'd return with a couple different friends and we would take up the COBDR at Lake City on our way to Utah. That next section is the toughest for trailers, and one of my friends was towing his. It did fine (though he might have ignored a couple signs warning to not take trailers). We'd cross California Pass, Hurricane Pass, Corkscrew Pass (the most challenging for the trailer), Ophir Pass on our way. If you'd like to see that, it's part of the "A Gathering of Wanderers" playlist. The first couple days of that series is not the COBDR. But starting at Lake City, it's COBDR until we get out of the mountains, then we deviated to head to Utah. Recommend you use that to decide whether you'd like to attempt.
