Fun fact: They pretended this took place in one terminal at a large airport, but it was really the entire single-terminal rural feeder airport in Alpena, Michigan. They blew it up for the movie and built a whole new one to replace it. There are photos from the movie shoot at the airport.
The first two are the only real Christmas films. But DIE HARD 3 brings the much appreciated grit of Samuel L. Jackson. Glad you are enjoying this series of films my dude!
@@obelieoly3455 it's not That cheesy, and Geena Davis is Awesome in all her roles. But, yeah, the one liners in THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT rival Bruce Willis in the Die Hard series for awesome. Not quite Arnold level, but decent and fun.
YES!! I remember watching this on CBS Sunday Night Movie, and the way they removed or dubbed the swearing is hilarious, especially when John says, "Yippee Kay Yay, Mr. Falcon." Lol!!
I've watched pineapple express on TV and they replaced a**hole with casserole. So he kept calling the other character a casserole. That's the best they could come up with!
I don't enjoy Die Hard 2 very much (too much like the first for my taste), but it does have a good cast of villains. The third (Die Hard With A Vengeance) is much better imo, and makes for a good summertime watch.
Fun fact: "the General" was played by Franco Nero. He's best known as the start of the spaghetti Western "Django" film series. He also has a brief cameo in "Django Unchained" - he's the guy who asks who Django spells his name :)
Several decades before Django was even a thought in someone's mind, Franco Nero played Lancelot in the movie musical version of Camelot (with Richard Harris as King Arthur)....
Love Dennis Franz in this movie. Just like his character on NYPD Blue. Interesting connection, the traffic cop that tows away Bruce’s car in the beginning played mobster Alphonse Giordella in the first season of NYPD Blue opposite Dennis Franz.
The first and third Die Hards are my favorites. 2 is ok, fun script, but there’s at least one problem with almost every scene. The plane engine having no chance at all of working after eating a human body is just one of a hundred examples. Really looking forward to you diving in the Lethal Weapon series!
Yesss awesome!!!!! You're going to do the Lethal Weapon movies!?!?!?!? You are going to love them!!!!!! Can't wait to watch you watch them. The next Die Hard is my favorite, we have a new and very interesting lead character for John to play with 😁. This is gonna be good!!! 🤐 Peace
In your quest for actor recognition, Col. Stewart(bad guy) was one of the main prison mates of Andy Dufrain in Shawshank Redemption. Also, that first bad guy on the Skywalk was the main Terminator 2 actor. And you recognized Dick(newsguy) from Ghostbusters.
The great thing about Die Hard is that it seems possible. John McClain wins his fights, but it is never easy for him, and he gets the crap beat out of him. It usually seems plausible, but with each movie it becomes a bit less believable. Not just that it keeps happening to the same guy, but in how he takes the bad guys out. I suppose sequels are always about upping the ante, but the early films in this series are the best.
The third is the best in the series, only barely outbeating the first but as others mention - it's a summer movie. In fact, I think all the rest of them are. The first two are the only ones that happen at Christmas. Also, the first two are the only ones that sadly have Holly. I do like the storyline with them in the 3rd one and how it ends though. I can see it with those two...
Just as good as the first. One of my favorite movies you should react to is The Final Countdown. (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz.
One thing i never understood was why didn't the pilots just divert to a different airport? Ronald Regan (DC) wasn't very far, and neither was Baltimore, Philadelphia, or New York. It's just a movie I get it. Love the first three Die Hards, after that it fell off for me. Hope you have a very happy holiday season James!
Hija James :) The first Die Hard is definitely a Christmas movie ( It's just not your typical romcom and there's no Santa involved....Though he gave John the MP as a christmas Gift ;) ) Because Christmas is nexessary for the Plot .If it wouldn't have been X-mas John wouldn't have gone to the Party at the Nakatoma Building to see his Wife Holly and Hans Gruber would be a rich man on some tropical Island ! The second one just happens to be around Christmas Time but the Holidays are not important for the Plot .Thats why its NOT a X-mas Movie . It could've happened at any other Time (Same goes for Lethal Weapon I )
Thank you for doing this review as it brought back some good memories, even though I think Die Hard 3 is the best one. Just a few minor things in this film that some people may not have noticed. When John McClane had his first run in with Capt Lorenzo about the "baggage thieves", McClane said the guy pulled a Glock 7 on him, and then went on about it being undetectable by an airport metal detector. Minor detail, there has never been a Glock 7. The gun used was probably a 1st Gen Glock 17. A nice gun all the same. When it came to the fight on the planes wing, and McClane saw and opened the fuel release valve, there is no such valve on that part of the wing, if on the wing at all. A fuel dump is primarily activated electronically from the cockpit, and even then it is drained from the far edge (or tip) of the wing and not near the engines. Finally. after the events at Lockerbie, Pan Am refused to have that film shown on their flights due to the scenes towards the end. Totally understandable.
Greetings from Finland man!!! You should definitely check out Cliffhanger and The long kiss goodnight also directed by Renny Harlin!!! "I'll be back" 😎
I'm really loving your reactions! One thing I hate about Hollywood is how unrealistic they are with things like different types of fuel, Jet fuel is almost impossible to ignite unless it's atomized (injected under high pressure as a fine mist) and it's even harder to ignite in cold temperatures so a lighter is not going to ignite a trail of jet fuel in the snow lol. Hollywood makes it seem like jet fuel is liquid C4, it's not lol it has a ton of usable energy but it's extremely hard to ignite and only explodes if it's ignited in a cylinder of compressed air
Also, Die Hard 4 takes place over Independence Day weekend so that could be a good time to watch that (either DH3 in a few months then DH4 in July; or DH3 in the summer, then DH4 July 2024).
