Follow the instructions on the lid in front of you exactly and you'll be happier. I promise. These are amazing appliances. Everyone should have one IMO. I used to think that about the lanterns too, but LED are just too good now. No new tech will cook better than these though.

Yes very true amazing in cooking! Well the lantern situation though is this what if you forget to charge it or something happens to the cord new tech is good but they made stuff to be reliable which is a lost art thanks for your comment!

@@gomersknifeshop That's valid. I still have several lanterns hanging around, and I run them occasionally, but more for the novelty than anything else. They're really cool, old school tech. The rural electrification act really did a number on Coleman. Not sure if you know this or not, but they had a system called "Holow Wire" that was installed in rural homes. It consisted of a large pressurized gasoline tank and tiny copper tubing run to the rooms of the house like wiring to sconces that hand Coleman mantle lamps and chandeliers. They ran gasoline fired furnaces, stoves and water heaters as well. Really cools stuff!
I[m not a major "prepper", but I do keep a decent stock of Coleman fuel and kerosene on hand and pick up more any time I find it cheap. It came in handy during the infamous Texas freeze a few years ago. The 1930s Coleman heaters kept the house warm enough and even though I didn't have to, I cooked on Coleman stoves, we have a gas range that worked fine, I just like using them, haha. I'll cook on them outside in the summer to keep the house cooler. And yes, I'll fire up my lanterns too.
I'll be cooking on Coleman stoves tomorrow too. I may even fire up a lantern or 4 or 5 in remembrance of my buddies who paid the ultimate price for all of us. So a Milspec will be one of them.
      Have a great Memorial Day!
