Whoa! Man when folks today say they're more forward thinking, I always show them how far out the 70s were. The 70s were the age of the sexual revolution, tv was groundbreaking and very landmark entertainment. The "beautiful people knew how to amaze and entertain! The artist were stretching the way to be hip and cool. They may not have been the best looking singers, actors or both. But they were the real deal, they were artist for the ages. God bless!
yep things are so regressive today, and it isn't funny. This was +50 years ago and it's outrageous to see that it was on a major TV station, on a major show, in a prime time slot, so much for all the BS talked about past decades :-)
Exact same thoughts from me. Dressed up as a woman when he came to America. That was in the early 70s. Imagine if anybody did that now in 2024 where were meant to be more progressive. It would be a shame if Bowie saw what was happening in today's society, as he was always a peaceful loving person.
It´s funny to hear people saying that Lady Gaga is so inspiring and original. They haven´t seen how original and inspiring the Musicians at this time where. The 70 : David Bowie, Roxy Music, Velvet Underground, The B52´s, The Talking Heads and more.
I have been watching bootleg videos of this and other Bowies videos from this particular show for years and most with a lot of quality flaws or missing spots but was happy to see them and could live with them! ...But finally, it's so great to start seeing very high-quality original TMS videos here on "The Midnight Special" channel from Bowie's 1980 Floor Show that aired back in 1973 and I remember it like it was yesterday! ...I sure hope eventually the whole show will be shown in its entirety! ...As there was nothing else ever like it ever since as it was almost the end of his Ziggy-Aladdin persona! ...Absolutely Bowie fantastic! Thank you Midnight Special for releasing it and the many other shows and artist you have been sharing as I have been praying for many, many, many years for this musical history day to come from you!
It was a great worldwide hit. Number 1 in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, number 2 in Ireland, Zimbabwe, Number 3 in the UK, Iceland. It also reached the top 10 in France, Belgium and several other countries. The album Pin Ups was a complete success in the UK, it was number 1 for 5 weeks, debuting above Elton's goodbye yellow brick road that debuted the same week and prevented The Who's album "Quadrophenia" from being number 1. The album It also reached number 1 in Sweden and reached the top 10 in Australia, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands... and many more countries.

The end of the Ziggy Stardust - Aladdin Sane era. Appearing with Bowie is the great Amanda Lear, who maybe (or maybe not) was a pioneering trans woman. Accounts differ...
@@nikzane Interesting! I always wondered what was up with the woman in this. The whole narrative of the vid was lost on me BUT as a long time AbFab fan I see it now. Looks just like Lumley too.
"Performs live" - live lipsyncing. Way too prevalent back then ( and some still). Why would they pass up an opportunity to have a fresh, new, LIVE version of Bowie singing?
One of the best music videos ever. Simple, stylish, sexy, glamorous, unforgettable.

So good this finally is unearthed, it has been a long wait; it does live up to the expectations!
Although he did not write it, this is my all-time favorite Bowie song.
The Mersey beats, a Liverpool group had the first hit with this
great song, but Bowie grabs it perfectly.
The way the saxophone player moves his hips, haha, hilarious!
The Midnight Special, awesome good to see alll this great content.
More to come!

Ziggy doing a one-time comeback to promote the _Pin_ _Ups_ album. I do like this cover better than the original McCoys or Merseybeats versions.

fico chocada com a beleza dele nesse vídeo aqui
Bowie is so diva like here ...
Bowie's remake of "Sorrow" did not charted in Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. But it went to # 69 (Cashbox) in December of 1973.
Was a big hit in UK though

I just read the "Patsy Stone" character (played by Joanna Lumley) on the BBC series _Absolutely Fabulous_ was loosely based on Amanda Lear.

Bowie's singing IS live. It's the rest that is canned playback.
