This is probably the most well-constructed story I’ve seen from MrBallen so far. The way he implicitly set up the killer as another possible victim in the story, only to reveal the truth through the revelation of one of his victims, was just very smart and well done. I really didn’t see it coming, and it made the whole scenario - the murder of this woman he worked with - even more frightening. It places you in her shoes because you’ve been set up to sympathize with and trust this guy, just like she was, and when she realizes who he really is, it’s just a shock of pure terror. Ballen is very good at placing you in the shoes of the victims of whatever crime he’s talking about, and that naturally humanizes them and allows you to empathize with them much more than your standard true crime documentaries.
russia don`t do this kind of movies. It`s kinda glorification and humanizing a person instead of condemning in eyes of the state. we have series about Chikatilo maniak and it had no, emmm, fuzz? big ratings? Also, ratings or box-office is not a thing to interest a filmmakers, we have no "free market". It`s way safer to make some crappy shit movie about Great Patriotic War for government budget money and you don`t give a shit about how much people will go to the theaters
I also love how into the stories they get. Sometimes one or both come so close to figuring it out before it’s over or actually are right on. I like it more when they’re shocked and surprised tho. 😄
Idk what the lawsuit laws are there in Russia , but if one of my family members goes in a place where 20-30-40 other ppl are also missing and last spotted at , and they don’t do nothing abt it until it’s too late . Once we know for sure that it’s a serial killer , I’m suing the fucking out of them . Like I get a couple of them , thinking they’re just drunks and what not . But 40? Before u start investigating? That’s just crazy . Hell they should started investigating at like 10
And I do hate to this , but I will put some of that blame on the victims themselves (more specifically the later ones ) even if the police don’t see it , u know that 30-40 ppl who are currently “missing” was last seen there . Now if u knew , why would u still go ?
So none of the chess players that were still alive at the time never questioned where the other chess players were to play with? Interesting. You can tell something is off just by looking at him. It’s the eyes and forehead for me tbh. That bulging forehead is creepy.

You thought it was the woman 😂😂. In stories like these it’s obvious because of the amount of attention a character gets. In all honesty the woman theory could be true for the simple fact that women tend to kill the opposite sex when they’re considered a serial killer
