You are right only because you decided to limit yourself. If you put in the time and practice, you can achieve a lot more than you think.
If you trained for 10,000 hours, whatever technique it is you practiced, after 10,000 hours, you'd have it mastered that technique.

I really liked Metallica and Slipknot, but they were too loud to be played in an apartment. I had to develop an apartment friendly touch for that. I got into jazz to get deep with drums. Then I got back to Rock and Metal with a proper technique and control.
Playing Fast and Quiet was my disability.
Now I'm proud that I can play a gig, where the audience can easily have a conversation without shouting at each other :)

Excellent drumming and perseverance to adapt and overcome with a disability. Rick Allen was an inspiration for me and all drummers just like you. Your future will be very bright as it is currently or with the addition of a prosthetic arm, transplanted donor limb, electric drums, acoustic drums, and assorted hardware. My Dad was paralyzed from the waist down and was married with 6 kids, still conceived 4 children after his accident, drove a car with his hands pushing his legs to the pedals, walked upright with with canes and braces, and worked as an engineer. People forgot he was handicapped after he trained and adapted.

You're an inspiration to me, my dude. I'm a guitar player, who dabbles with my drum kit on occasion. Long story short, after endless problems with drummers, I asked myself a question. Why should other people dictate my goals? So, I've been practicing playing guitar and drums simultaneously, which of course involves a lot of trial and error. I love and respect your never give up on your passion attitude. In the last couple weeks, I've discovered what I call, "the average of sounds". The brain pays attention to pattern and rhythm, so if a snare hit replaces a high hat, so be it. Anyway, I love your spirit. God Bless.

You are such an inspiration! Makes me want to go practice! And you've helped me realize that I have been slacking on practice and not playing to my fullest potential. I know a little about having to overcome physical limitations. I was born with cerebral palsy. My feet are both turned out, as well as my right wrist being turned in. CP Basically causes my muscles to be very spastic and overly tight. So I constantly struggle with staying relaxed and using my fingers loosely for taking advantage of stick rebound. I began drumming at 15. (I'm now 37.) It has given me an identity and confidence. It is awesome to be admired and respected for something! I have played in bands my entire drumming life and will continue to play for as long as I physically can. I love what you are doing and your positive attitude! Some great advice you gave on playing to your strengths and not worrying about what you can't do. Keep rocking and hope to see more videos from you! This guy (Jack) is so inspiring! Necessity is the Mother of invention. I've been playing for a long time and I have both arms but, I think that this guy would definitely smoke me! 🤯🤘🥁

Thanks so much for making this video and sharing your tips and tricks! This is really helping be finally be encouraged to finally trying to play my drums again.. I suffered a stroke in 2012 that paralyzed my left side. I was in a wheelchair for about a year then continued to rehab to get out of my brace. Now I’m still working on my left hand and arm. I’ve taken your advice and rearranged my set and cymbals to allow me to get back to practicing and learning to adapt my technique.
