As an old jarhead, I love seeing those old Navy buttons! (The Spanish silver and that super-old spoon are icing on the cake) Thanks for sharing your hunts with us! Side note: as someone who was absolutely CRUSHED by jellyfish while bodysurfing in Savannah, Ga in 1974-they’re no joke! I was stung from my neck to my toes and had to drag my 10 year old self to shore with my arms and hands because my legs were temporarily paralyzed. (My parents thought a shark had me. This movie called “Jaws” had come out a few months before this incident! 😂. Best wishes to you all. 👍🏼❤️🫡🪼💀🥴
I love that Pewter Spoon 🥄 😍 I like that more then the coins 🪙 that is a absolutely beautiful relic! Congrats on a awesome find 👏 Great vid as always, HH and take care.
Thar dognose rattail is kool Kurt! I found a complete one last year scuba diving the river and mine was complete too! I couldn't believe it! Great Finds! Freaking 2 reale coin and muck is like ..eeh..ok. lol
Great hunt. Tell Mark I found a corroded holed 1821 half bust dime yesterday. Lemon juice would not get the black crust off of it. Put in BU Plus and the black is coming off. Great stuff, will be a nice coin.
Yaaay! I run an offshore charter boat, electrolysis will cause my propeller to rot away. Simply placing metal into saltwater creates a mild electric field. I can’t believe that there’s anything left whatsoever of anything except for gold. Great stuff today. You can’t always get together once you have children! You guys are just the best! Stay safe!😊
The prop shaft is eaten up by galvanization because of having different metals. You should put a zinb tab below the waterline it will take most of the corrosion between the different metals. Electrolysis is running current through to either plate or clean surfaces of metals. Coins that aren't around other different metals oxidizes from a galvanic process. Silver if neat other metals can corrode because it's a reactive metal and gold isn't affected at all. Some lesser gold tarnishes from the other metal in it. I just put new zins on my aluminum boat because it reactive to the outboard motor which also have a sacrificial zinc on it
Man, that was a loaded site. Congrats on those Spanish pieces. I found a Navy button just like yours at that site we went to with Jocelyn where Brad got a GW cufflink. Can't wait til you hit it again. Thanks!
Just a great day, I love that area and am really jealous of you. Water detecting opened up some new detecting spots as well as scenery. Way better than beach detecting!
Great finds love all the buckles/d's and the buttons, my favorite this week is that first one you found. Think it went behind the drawer pull next to the front of the drawer. Happy digging and eat your lunch. Have a great day
My husband and I enjoy watching you guys dig history whether it’s on land or in the water - quick question about the sheath you guys use for your digging tool and pinpointer - is it mad especial or can we order one - I’m a newbie but the hubs has been on and off for 30 + years has found quite a bit of silver even for Texas originally from Ohio. We are planning a trip home to dig some history - keep digging and eat your lunch
Hey, been a while. That spoon is very interesting. I wonder if it was hand forged. Amazing piece to find and I'm curious of its metal composition as silverware like that back in the day was usually precious metal as SILVERware got its name from being made out of silver. I'm not saying yours is but its a fun thought to think of.
Kurt, if you guys manage to de-crust that 2 reales, it'd be great to get another look at it! I wonder if there's any chance it's debased or, to quote the Brits, "barbarous"?
Definitely better than last week ! LOL I've heard that the British made counterfeit Spanish Reales. How can you tell the difference? Thanks for sharing your adventure. 😀
The counterfeit Reales that were going around with counterfeit coppers happened after this time frame. This site is pre revolutionary war well I guess to modern times but around the 1830's there wasn't as much activity and the British were long gone while counterfeit Reales came a little later. I'm not sure if it was the British who did it though. That's a very early settlement there from the early 1600's Henry Hudson came through in 1609 and saw settlements by two countries people I won't say what countries I know it well I grew up and still live not very far from there and also hunted it. For respect I won't give up the location. And if you ask well why haven't I been killing it it's because I 2as crushed on a rough accident and will finish my last hip surgery literally in two weeks. But I will be able to hunt by 2 months. I haven't been able to detect for two damn years so it's killing me watching everything. Ugh at least I will make it back by late July 😊 right around ,6 birthday no less
I really miss the Killer B's, Billy Bottles, Bobby Buttons and Bare Butt B-rad!!!!
Agreed. Where are those guys?!
