I agree. Also the StuG III A is extremely good, I learned Ground RB with it. It's hard to pen, and can usually withstand a hit or two anyways, it really helped me ease into tank battles since before i was only playing aircraft. It's very n00b friendly, and can take some punishment.

As a Non-Premium player I would prefer the "Foch" and "Jagdtiger" The Foch is a Super Heavy armor tank destroyer that can punch 200mm (more or less) of armor in any angel While the Jagdtiger's armor is the king in 6.7 especially at lower BR. These are the choices I would pick for SPG.

I've personally always loved the StuH 42. Superior mobility, great armor (for its BR), and HEAT rounds that laugh at KV-1s. Its only real flaw is that the gun is slightly inaccurate until you research the appropriate modifications.
Yeah, but it got that gun only because of what it was designed for: Destroying Fortifications and giving Artillery-Fire-Support over an range of about 13km

all models of turreted tank destroyers minus the M18 use the same chassis during WW2 , meaning the m10, m36 Jackson and slugger, m3 and all variants of the m4 minus the m4a4 and Sherman jumbo all use the same base specifications in terms of tread, suspension, sprockets and wheels and dimensional layouts for gearbox transmission and radial or V8 engines so parts were interchangeable at any given point in time, and in some rare cases tank husks could be salvaged for spare components if the ammo didn't cook off.
@@Kuku_hihi just use its armour and ballistics to your advantage, it has a really good gun at range and it’s like a tiger but with smaller weak spots. it’s crew is spaced enough that when your weak spots get hit, most aphe doesn’t do enough damage to 1 shot. the 10 second reload is fun to abuse too.
@@omnipotank you’d need quite a bit of filler to kill the whole crew if your weak spots are hit. if you shoot the right side with a kt (common weak spot against a really good aphe), you only take out 2 crew because of the distance between them. if the left side is penetrated, you still have more than enough crew to run the tank. you’d need a filler like the Ho I aphe to kill the tortoise fully, but that’s a maybe still. i have the crew on mine aced so the nigels can take quite a bit of damage

the m10 is based on the m4 sherman it was a "crowd funded SPG" civilians would go to a GM dealer and fork the cash to send one overseas to use in the war, and the turret would have been whacked off and given back as a tractor if it wasnt damaged beyond repair
My favourite Spg is Jagdtiger. Great gun, great armour, average mobility and matchmaking where are things that don’t ask if you have armour, they just pen it
About the information in the answering questions video, you guys said that heli battle could not be categorized by BR because there were not many players to do so, but the lack of players is caused by the unbalancing in match-making itself. So to balance the mode and also have more players, I suggest dividing the match-making followed by rank. Only helicopters in the same rank can be matched together. For example, in rank V, all helis just have guns and atgm. In rank IV, some helis have auto-tracking system and long-range atgm and some don't have, but all of them have AAM missiles which are more competitive to other helis. That is my opinion, pls consider rebalancing the mode so free players can grind for their helis too. Tks
Personally for me, the best SPG/Casemated tank is the AMX 50 Foch It has everything you need for a TD. - Good survivability - Good frontal Armor that can troll most shells - A wonderful 120mm gun with 301mm of penetration at point blank (APBC Solid-shot) - Good Mobility Though, every tank has a flaw - Weak side armor - A high reload rate - It's the size of a Bus All in all, it's an excellent tank despite its flaws. It's a force to be reckoned with.
My all time favorite is the Panzer IV/70 (V), great gun, very great armor, average mobility, low profile, also how its not put in the list, its the best TD for its BR and range, its can take out basicly anything from the front, Black Prince, Jumbos and T-44 is the only foes that may be problematic

Jagdpanther is one of my favorite tanks not just in the game but also irl. And what about other SPGs? Currently working on Ho-Ri since it impressed me in several encounters.
underrated opinion: SU-100P probably one of the best or not the best SPG i've every played... it's so fun to play with a really punchy gun that can go through basically anything in it's BR (except american and german heavies' upper front plate) and it has outstanding mobility for an SPG enabling you to play passively as a sniper/scout or play aggresively flanking around the map
I'm sorry, but I can't agree with the panzer IV/70 (A) being better then the tech tree (V) variant. The non-premium one has: 1 better protection (with the straight 80mm plate removed) 2 the same cannon 3 sligthly better mobility (weighs 2 tons less) 4 lower profile. Even though it is at a lower br, the lack of protection in the frontal part of the tank makes it inherently worse at every possible situation and the higher profile doesn't help.
At the same time at 4.3 and a little range 80mm of flat armor can prove extremely difficult for most opponents to penetrate... And being nearly immune to almost all strafing attacks is a rarity among german vehicles, esp within it's BR range (only 5 other german tanks are immune and 3 (KV1E, KV1C, VK4501) are premiums... With 2 of them being limited premiums at that. The other 2 are the 4/70 V and the Tiger H1 (this one can still be set on fire by 20mm HE shells going through the engine covering but otherwise immune))

I absolutely adore turretless spg, Jagdpanther and Stug F is my absolute favourite, the gameplay of always facing enemy head on and never expose your back to them is absolute honkers
I don’t like the M10 because of its slow turret turn rate as well as poor armor, it is tough to snipe and I feel sniping is more suited for defensive doctrines over most war thunder games as it is hard to find good cover or to play well when facing higher BR tanks.
Question: there is a vehicle that MUST BE ADDED, it is a Canadian tank that never made service sinceit never needed to cuz it was made with the sherman chassis ( it was during WWII), it was made with Triple canons to take out aircraft, it had upgradedturet rotation and more armour in the roof of the turret, i forgot the name of the tank but ITS REALly interesting to see how it would interact with other tanks, SO ,would it PLEASE be possible to ADD it in the game???

The fun thing about the Ho-ri is that the superstructure is only 225mm thick. And then finding out that no one can properly penetrate it unless you shoot the complete flat right and left of the superstructure, even at point blank with an IS-6.
My two favourites from what I've played are the ASU-57 and the SU-85 M ASU-57 is a sneaky little bugger (especially with bushes) that makes it extemely well suited to scouting/sniping, I find myself often having 5+ assists and no kills with it, but thanks to its low repair cost I still make a profit 9/10 times. SU-85M has a rather low profile and is a good sniper, it can punch through a panthers UFP and is (I think) one of if not the most survivable vehicle in the non-premium Soviet tech tree, I've survived so many shots to the UFP in that thing it's insane. Third place goes to the ISU-152, I give it praise for the fact it's HEAT round is one of the few things at the BR that can deal with the Tiger 2's UFP but with its 20+ second reload and poor survivability (unless you dance side to side) you're in a real sticky situation once you're spotted even with that reverse speed
My favorite SPGs are the SU and ISU-152, you can just yeet a huge HE shell on pretty much any tank from medium to long range when you are used to the gun. Low profils, good speed for what they are, an incredible reverse speed thanks to KV1S and IS hull. I started to get fun with HE thanks to those SPGs, easy to aim with the ML-20S with a granted velocity of 640 m/s (almost the same as a basic T-34), splash kills on light tanks are always hilarious, and for the big heavies, you just have to aim under the hull or the track to get an overpressure kill. Those russian fridge launchers are gems to me
my go to SPG is the ho-ri production, mainly for the fact its costs when spaded offer more of a "hold my beer!" feeling since i can take it and run it, and actually earn SL with it, it got speed to get to an ambush spot, it has the punch for sniping if you aim well enough, and the explosive mass to make people yell at you for cheating, the high cost is for a barrel of laughs i wont let go of even if its at 7.3 now!

SU-85M is my weapon of choice. Very good speed, very good cannon and surprisingly high survivability. Though learning curve for this one is quite steep...
Been enjoying the Nashorn a lot. Was shocked by how stable the gun is and it performs the most consistently out of all vehicles in my 5.3 lineup. Now I don't feel like relying on the Tiger too much.
I like the object 268 it’s like a KV-2 on steroids. It can penetrate more armour than the 122mm soviet D-25-T and has a decent reload speed for its caliber. It only suffers from its BR because there’s too much HEAT and APDS at 7.3, and it’s a very tall vehicle
BR for BR I'd pick the regular JP4 over the JP4/L70 A. Better armor protection, more depression, better overall performance except for penetration and 79 possible kills. Just don't take it out in uptiers :D I love this little beast more than even the Stug oder Jagdpanther
To me, the Jagdpanther (like any other undertiered Panthers) remained the best. And the situational T95 'Doom Turtle' in close second EDIT: oh yeah, forgot to mention the underrated Panzer IV/70. Shit’s crazy in 5.3, should be 5.7 imo

jumbo is easy, shoot lower side if its angled or mg port if its not, t44 shoot turret cheek, black prince shoot barrel and flank

The fun thing about the Ho-ri is that the superstructure is only 225mm thick. And then finding out that no one can properly penetrate it unless you shoot the complete flat right and left of the superstructure, even at point blank with an IS-6.

My two favourites from what I've played are the ASU-57 and the SU-85 M
ASU-57 is a sneaky little bugger (especially with bushes) that makes it extemely well suited to scouting/sniping, I find myself often having 5+ assists and no kills with it, but thanks to its low repair cost I still make a profit 9/10 times.
SU-85M has a rather low profile and is a good sniper, it can punch through a panthers UFP and is (I think) one of if not the most survivable vehicle in the non-premium Soviet tech tree, I've survived so many shots to the UFP in that thing it's insane.
Third place goes to the ISU-152, I give it praise for the fact it's HEAT round is one of the few things at the BR that can deal with the Tiger 2's UFP but with its 20+ second reload and poor survivability (unless you dance side to side) you're in a real sticky situation once you're spotted even with that reverse speed
My favorite SPGs are the SU and ISU-152, you can just yeet a huge HE shell on pretty much any tank from medium to long range when you are used to the gun. Low profils, good speed for what they are, an incredible reverse speed thanks to KV1S and IS hull.
I started to get fun with HE thanks to those SPGs, easy to aim with the ML-20S with a granted velocity of 640 m/s (almost the same as a basic T-34), splash kills on light tanks are always hilarious, and for the big heavies, you just have to aim under the hull or the track to get an overpressure kill.
Those russian fridge launchers are gems to me

my go to SPG is the ho-ri production, mainly for the fact its costs when spaded offer more of a "hold my beer!" feeling since i can take it and run it, and actually earn SL with it, it got speed to get to an ambush spot, it has the punch for sniping if you aim well enough, and the explosive mass to make people yell at you for cheating, the high cost is for a barrel of laughs i wont let go of even if its at 7.3 now!

My favorite is personally the SU-122, it just obliterates every single tank's roof in its BR using a very simple HE.

The panzer 4 70 a when hull down just showing the slop has such good armor for its BR and can really do some damage.
They picked the worst variant too
SU-85M is my weapon of choice. Very good speed, very good cannon and surprisingly high survivability. Though learning curve for this one is quite steep...
Been enjoying the Nashorn a lot. Was shocked by how stable the gun is and it performs the most consistently out of all vehicles in my 5.3 lineup. Now I don't feel like relying on the Tiger too much.
German team spam Tiger at 5.3 but there is so many other options.
At 5.3, the Tiger I is a backup for my Nashorn and Jadpanzer IV.
I got lucky and opened a chest with a BFW jagdpanther. Even in 7.3 br. I still keep using it. Good SPG 100% recommand

I like the object 268 it’s like a KV-2 on steroids. It can penetrate more armour than the 122mm soviet D-25-T and has a decent reload speed for its caliber. It only suffers from its BR because there’s too much HEAT and APDS at 7.3, and it’s a very tall vehicle
jagpanther is the best. angled armour, great manuverability. easy one shot on the sides by a tier 3 tank

My favorite is the Jagdpather. From an elevated position not much can damage it. Even tiger 2s and IS-2.

BR for BR I'd pick the regular JP4 over the JP4/L70 A. Better armor protection, more depression, better overall performance except for penetration and 79 possible kills. Just don't take it out in uptiers :D I love this little beast more than even the Stug oder Jagdpanther

I am not a big fun of SPG's but I like German and Russian a little.
To me, the Jagdpanther (like any other undertiered Panthers) remained the best.
