Thx Cody - I just picked up a G4 Instant Camera, so it's great that they just added this.
Awesome. That box that tracks the person as they trigger that smart motion. Is that only on the Web browser protect view or can you see that on the app as well. Looks pretty cool having a box around the person as they walk pass.
Thank you. I wonder IF the detection feature now changes limits the number of cameras a dream machine supports since that takes a lot of CPU cycles to perform
Is Ubiquiti ever going to allow mobile access to Protect without using their cloud login? Seriously, by now you would think they would allow remote mobile access through direct IP and VPN (like the UniFI Network app does). Crazy this is not a feature yet with Protect.

Updated my Protect to 2.1.1. One of my 2 g4 instant wont get to 4.55.5 and just stays at 4.51.14. Both cameras are at 100% connection, one at -50db and the other at -57db. I rebooted the one with the old firmware but it still wont update. Is there a way to force it? EDIT: restarded my Unifi OS Console (UNVR) and after that it started updating my other G4 instant!
Good stuff! I'm hoping they consider a little Smart Speaker (Alexa, Sonos, Google) integration for announcing doorbell rings and stuff without going through 95 hoops to make it happen right now.
I'm fully updated (UnifiOS, Protect 2.1.1, G4 Instant 4.55.5. No options for detection types. I cycled the camera an extra time, but nothing. Hmmm....
Update: After updating to 2.1.1 and the cameras updated. The console took a few mins to update. I walked away and opened on my phone, and it had me accept new terms about detections. The options are now available everywhere. Lesson learned: give it 10 minutes.
How do the notifications work with crossing lines... does it trigger a person/vehicle detection on iOS for example or will there be a future notification setting? I just checked and don't see a notification option for type crossing lines. Is the line independent of the Smart Detection zone or does it have to be within it? Also on another note... in iOS app I can delete the Default smart detection and it will crash/reboot the Protect app... and whenever I go into it again to edit the Smart zone after in iOS will crash keep crashing. I have to use web GUI to fix and add a new Smart Zone and it is of note that cannot delete the last zone in the web. Can't really edit zone in iOS anyways... it is broken!
Is there a way to send notification when the line is crossed? When I go to notifications, all I see is general camera detections and no specific user zone or line configurations. It looks like this used to be available under "my alerts"?
How are you powering this IF u don’t want to use a power plug? Outdoor use case…
The camera analytics was originally only available on the cameras with smart detection
Is Line Cross avaible for G3 series? Bullet?
What makes line crossing unique from just making a very narrow detection zone?
Frankly it just sounds much better than telling someone that "they just crossed the very narrow detection zone". Cue Danger Zone music... 😉
My thoughts excactly, the thing that could really make a difference was a direction detection feature.
Is stacking still in EA???
Only G4 and AI cameras will get the Smart Detection features, including the line crossing and people counting.
G3 cameras will not be getting these features and likely never will due to lower spec processors and less FLASH memory
If there is a vehicle in your backyard, you have bigger problems.

I would think they would come out with one but i'd say its still at least 6 months out
