  • Step by step installation of the master link and retaining clip
on roller chain for bikes, go karts, or motorcycles. There is a correct orientation for the master link clip, so pay attention to that. This is for the non-o-ring style roller chain. If you have o-ring chain, you may need master link pliers, and a chain breaking tool.

Wow, I have never seen this chain fitting technique before. I used to help my ageing late father in his bike shop. Chain fitting was one of the hardest jobs that I did and here it is. You have made it look so easy. I wish I had seen this video years ago.

So yeah, if we're doing an oring chain it's more involved....lube it up inside the link & use those o rings

TY for such a clean, clear video, with audible audio lol. My 66cc bike chain snapped or fell apart tonight, and this helped me fix it.
I am still new to 66cc bikes, and thankfully the fella at Zoom Bikes sent a few extra parts (for free!) he thought I might need to rebuild this old 66cc gas bike, and - thank god - he sent a master link assembly (the 3 tiny pieces pictured in ur vid).
I checked out a couple other vids, but nobody mentioned the last step (retaining clip) and I was really confused why I could pull the link apart with zero effort lol. Thankfully I found your video before trusting my repair job.
Timing couldn't have been better to have your clear instructions and this spare part. I am broke as a joke rn and use this bike as my daily commuter :)
TY again!! The main drive chain on this dinky little 66cc engine seems good as new now :)

I am attempting to fix the chain that broke off my CT200U mini bike. There is not a Master link on this chain, unless the whole link broke off when the chain broke. I have the same clip setup as your video, however there is not enough room to use the 8 shaped link on both sides and the open ended clip. I am tempted to use just the clip(closed end facing forward,) and hold on to the 8 link until I can find longer pins or a different clip. I think my plan is okay temporarily, but can you help me understand why the pins aren't long enough OR if my theory that the whole master link broke off is correct. The kit I ordered was supposed to be for the Coleman mini bike, so not sure why there were no pins provided, not enough room for clip and the 8 link (thats closed on both sides.) Thank you in advance, I really appreciate your videos as well.
