I agree. I loved the quirky quality of the original (recorded and live versions) that made Roxy Music unique. This version here sounds like it came from Avalon (i.e. it's lost its edge and it became more bland). Just my opinion and my interpretation, of course.
In one way or another, his voice/music has been the soundtrack of the last 40 years of my life. There are periods and phases throughout that time and it seems every one is tied to, or soundtracked by, a Bryan Ferry song/album.
Same here. I'm still breathing it all in now. It's Bete Noire this week 🙂 I'm disappointed with Horoscope & the deluxe edition of Mamouna though. Was hoping for some fresh demos & collection of live versions, etc. This song is the highlight of all of it for me. It's a very cool remake with the usual array of stunning musicians & backing vocalists, etc.
@@steelyman08 One of my favorite experiences in the 00’s was owning a coffee shop and exposing younger kids to Ferry and Roxy, especially this song. Enjoy the Bete Noire groove in these days. I’m reminded of the day I first saw the Pacific Ocean while visiting Oregon. Taxi had just dropped. I was alone, listening to, I Put a Spell on You, while the surf churned and a stiff wind blew the sand in swirls under brooding skies. . . I don’t know if I’ve ever had a moment quite like it where music and the surroundings felt so perfectly matched. Must have worked, because I never left. 😌
@@nicolashall9019 Lucky you! And that's a very special track as well. The only time I ever saw the Pacific Ocean was while I was in Portland for a month or so. We drove out there one night & made a fire on the beach until dawn. I'm a huge fan as well. I was pretty young when Flesh & Blood came out, but loved "Oh Yeah". I can't remember exactly when I started really getting into Roxy & Bryan Ferry ~ buying the albums, etc. I'm thinking it was late eighties. I do remember that Avalon & Boys And Girls were the first 2 that I bought. Take care & enjoy the sea. I grew up right by it & have missed it ever since ♥
WOW - This makes me very happy - reminiscent of my finer days listening to Bette Noire & Roxy Music & Boys 7 Girls & ... all that beautiful music - Was & Still is and this as well - Thank You Bryan ! 😍
In my opinion one of the most ingenious songs ever written, this refreshed version of it is equally as good as that original recording... Love it Mr Ferry
One of the best Roxy songs. This version is alright but I still prefer the original. It's unfortunate that "Viva Roxy Music" didn't have a live version from the 1974/75 tours (that album should have been a double LP -- how about a remaster/expansion, Bryan?)
This song is available on today's release of the 3 cd Mamouna album which also contains the Horoscope album. It is also available on a 2 vinyl edition.
this is one bad song, played it 4 times the first day 8 times the second and I just finished my 5th sesson today. It's a start play close your eyes and just get killed by the song and the microdynamics in the background the levels of percussion are just one layer after another and the interpaly with the guitars (how many guitar parts you ask...good question) I pick up a new one everytime I listen, then that sax solo, just melts you out of nowhere. I just discovered the harmonica part at the end very nice. I can see an adiction forming. Well done thankyou Bryan
A great funk/jazz rendering of a great song. The original LP recording is a bit too camp, but the most majestic, romantic version was on the 1979 tour -- I saw the Oakland, CA show, released on the Song for Europe (Italian bootleg), which was Roxy at its absolute peak.
Much more subtle and subdued than the original delivered in Ferry’s current understated style - what it might have sounded like if Bryan Ferry wrote it in this decade as opposed to in the seventies - both versions are great but as a RM fan from the beginning the original has much more depth & feeling - my all time favorite Roxy song. Hard to top the original (even for Bryan!). Wish he played it live more often.
My song. I hope you know that I'm reserving my enthusiasm for this new version until after I listen to the whole thing..... Ok....not bad. It's OK. Grows on me.
Dont't get all the hate for this track. It;s ok and it doesnt erase the OG from existence so you can go and relisten to it as many times as you wish. Just think of this as an experimental remix))

Absolute crap . I so wanted to enjoy a fresh take on this classic - but everything great about the original Ferry's voice and the smooth romantic tempo has been changed or drowned out by that awful drum machine .
Good thing the old one still exists, then, amirite? I love (LOVE) the original but this is a whole different vibe and it's kind of awesome. Sorry you're so annoyed.
@SarahWelstead Not annoyed just disappointed . There are many ways it could have been a fresh new vibe . But this to me is just lame . Glad you enjoyed it though .
Sadly this is just another sad example of Bryan tearing up his roots to over produce and 'Avalonise' all his original ground breaking music. We had a brief respite with the Frantic album which did have some balls, Sadly this has now gone on for 40 years and it is far too late to turn back now. Such a shame.
One of my all-time favorite Roxy Music tracks!! And this just proves what an awesome song it is!! Thanks for doing this!! So great!!
Everything Bryan does is pure magic. Simply awesome!
First time I listen to this and I love it! I am 60yrs old.
64 here…it’s deadly!
72 here
IMHO the original is so perfect and deserves to remain untouched

it is sublime
His charisma ,his charm ,his dedication to his project I'll never forget him nor Roxy Music
He still has that magic after all this time!
❤❤Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music All The Time Anytime ❤❤
Quite simply there are no boundaries to this man's creative genius surely this man is the Son Of God
I AGREE TOTALLY- I'M SURE THAT SOME MIGHT SAY " HE'S JUST A NAUGHTY BOY??!!"
Jesus, you're so right.
Love the original version with the instrumental intro, but this rendition is sublime! It has such a smooth vibe, I could listen to it all day!
💜💙💚
Lovely dream of a mix, thank you ! Just when you think the song couldn’t get any better..
I can hear multiple layers of Ferry's vocals.

Hell yes to this.
Already done - "Live at Newcastle" - full concert!
It's a grower and I like that he can play with his old tunes But the original is one of the best songs of all time
This song is available on today's release of the 3 cd Mamouna album which also contains the Horoscope album. It is also available on a 2 vinyl edition.
Just ordered the 2 vinyl edition
Love this cool soothing sound with such beautiful subtle undertones!
Perfection! Thank you.

I like this "Would you have me dancing" version but...
"oh mother of pearl I wouldn' trade you for this new one song"...😊
Love it! ❤❤
Aw, this is so nice. Thank you.
Quelle incroyable version ! Du rock à la soul music
It's excellent ❤
What a lovely version! I prefer it, it's tender and soothing in contrast to the other one (which I also adore) Love the vibe, here. And that sax solo!
İ can listen this non stop - all night long ! Thanks for sharing !!!
This very interesting, I like it!😊😊
I am soooooooo proud of you !!!!! Te amo !!!! 🥰🥰😍😍❤❤💞
Excellent arrangement.

Fablous..and why wouldn't it be it's bryan ferry ❤
Really great album by Brian Ferry / Roxy Music is " Boys and Girls " Boss Man.

Awhhh.....❤ One of my favorites ! Love it 🔥🎶 @bryanferry
absolutely adore it, now if they would get my lp here today I will be a real happy guy
I is a happy guy
loved the original, love this mix also, if you don't like it don't listen to it?????

Брайан всегда на высшем уровне! Респект!!!
Fabulous!
If, the above cover image was, in fact, the intended image for Horoscope it would have been the greatest Bryan Ferry cover image ever, bar none.
I wonder if this was inspired by the Scribble cover of Mother of Pearl. Recommended listen for all Roxy/Ferry fans!
Absolute Perfection 👌
ultraepic ✌
I like both versions of the albums , refreshing 😊
So great ❤❤❤
