Everyone seems to struggle with tensions. I have this machine. For a double knit one way stretch, and 2 layers I have found setting the yellow and green at 4, and just a smidgen more is perfect. I set the blue at 4, and the red at 4. That little smidgen seems to make a difference. I am very new to sergers, and advanced at general sewing.
Thank you for making this video. I never would've been able to thread it properly without it. You made the instructions so easy to understand and follow.
I just bought a slightly older version of this second hand and this helped me a lot! The original instruction booklet was a little confusing. Thank you so much!❤
This was a wonderfully done and informative video. I am looking to purchase a mid-range serger and this was extremely helpful in my decision-making process. You are an excellent teacher.
Very informative. I'm encouraged that with concentration, even I can accurately thread this serger. Thank you for the presentation. One quibble: the position of the camera is poor when discussing the needles and doing the final threading of the loopers. Maybe move it over your left shoulder then? 👏
It was a bit of a toss up for me between this juki and a comparable singer but the ease of threading has convinced me to get the juki. Thanks for the video.
Well done Lucy, that was beautifully explained. You have been such a star helping me over the time that I've had my Juki MO600 and my Brother V5 xx Jayne
Best tutorial ever! Made it in my first go, how happy did that make me!! Thank you so much! Obe question - when changibg thread color - do you recommend threading it all from the start? I have tried the method of cutting the threads and tying up the new color - my thread always gets stuck in the needles eye and breaks....Any tips? Greetings from Israel
Thanks for this review. I am planning to buy a Juki Serger today (BlackFriday) and was wondering what is the best option: 654DE or 114D for a home base small business (about 1h a day) for the easy-use and quality.
I was getting the threading wrong on my serger...I was going underneath instead of overtop...and it wasn't locking in my stitches. Must give it a try on mine before I decide to sell and purchase a new one! Who am I kidding, I want this one! LOL
On this Juki, can you explain why I need 2 needles? I never really understood the differences/uses for it? I only ever used my serger for cutting/serging my seams.
You use 3 threats (1 needle) for cutting and overlocking the edge of the fabric. 4 threats (2 needles) for cutting the edges and sewing 2 pieces of fabric together. You can do it with 3 threats but with 4 it’s more secure. For example if I sew leggings or sweaters I always use 4 threats.
Is this machine good for a beginner or should I start with the Brother 1034D? I've been sewing for about a year on a Janome 2212 but I'd like to get a serger so I can make clothing that looks more professional. Which would you suggest?
I've bene sewing for 3 years, i've also worked as a professional sewer this summer. Now I'm looking for an overclock with a professional result. Would you suggest me this overclock? If not, which one do you suggest? Thanks
Great video except the close-up; where you really need to see what you are talking about, is so blurred you cannot see exactly what you mean when you say that the red needs to lay over the blue. :(
I am so disappointed. I watched your video and I bought this overlocker a year ago. It goes to fast for me. My table moves like a train during juki works. Foot controller is not under my control. Even I'll touch it only a bit it goes 1300 spm. I don't know how to fix it.

In love with this machine
Can you please please show how to use the gathering foot for the Juki 654de? I am having a horrible time getting it to work.
Thanks so much for the visual help.

Marie-Ève Nolet Legault, which one did you get and why? I can’t decide between these two models.
Bistra Bogoev I finally choosed to go for a babylock enlighten... totally different avenue.
Juki is such a great brand

Thank you very much for a very informative and clear video. 👍
Very good demo!
Thank u so much I manage to thread my overlock

The Juki is a lovely machine and is as easy to use if not easier than the Brother 1034D so we would highly recommend :).
Great, thanks for the quick response.
Lovely demonstration thank you
Thank you!!
Why is the hand wheel of my machine very hard to turn?
I have this model and I like it, but the machine is not easy to thread. Yes, it is quiet compared to other sergers.
Is this the portable model?
How to change the bulb in juki overlocker.
How do the threads get into the needles?
I have oiled it and cle aned it of lint, but it is still ver hatd to turn
I didn't see demo of the rolled hem.

Hi Anna - Yes we would definitely recommend this Juki overlocker for your needs. It is sturdy and fast and very reliable!
It would be a good video if it was focused in on the “most important part” of the threading, as you called it.
I would love to see a video on the self threading Juki
daydreambeliever you should see juki mo 1000
The MO-1000 is the air threader. It's beautiful and solid. Virtually no vibration....It's a dream!
❤❤

Nice video :) could you also please do a review for the Gritzner 788? :)
Shame it doesnt have a trim trap.
Bonus, because I got to sew my own serger mat and bag. Fun project, and a lot bigger than a built-in trap would be.

Please it's possible explication in french ? Thank so much. Friendly - F.B.
I know it's hard for someone who knows a subject well to think about the audience - most of whom don't know the subject well. Sigh.
