Susan Kay Quatro professionally known as Suzi Quatro born June 3 1950 in Detroit, Michigan is an American singer and actress known for her role as Leather Tuscadero on Happy Days in the late 1970's. She formed the Pleasure Seekers in Detroit with her Sisters in 1964. She was brought to the attention of British Producer Micki Most who produced for the Herman Hermits and other major British Bands in the 1960's. He was producing an album by Jeff Beck there in Detroit when he was brought to the attention of Suzi Quatro's brother Mike Quatro.
I discovered Suzi in 2023 quite by accident in one of my searches. After 40+ years of looking for 'new' music I am floored by what the USA wouldn't 'allow' on the airwaves! In 1979, I went to a Cheap Trick concert and loved it because they were great but also because the radio was my only leader. Only regret I have is that I missed so many years of enjoyment. Thankfully she has kept on going and left us so much to enjoy! Thank you Suzi!
Just curious, can anyone from former Czechoslovakia explain how it was to see an artist like this at the national Television at the time, and maybe why Suzi was allowed to play at all? Was she popular there at the time? In the early seventies (well '74 and onwards) she and Sweet were my favourites for at least 5 years. I can't Believe I've missed this brilliant clip, complete with a early Tom Petty song and all. Thanks!
In 1979 the decay of the worker's paradise was already well noticeable by the deprived masses. Mainly because information started to be available through Austrian and West German TV and radio broadcasts that the communists could not electronically jam the broadcasts because it would also be jammed on the Austrian and W German side. So the communists started to do the same as the Romans did. Bread and circuses. At that time the state was still able to provide the basic staples like food and kept housing cost very low by subsidies. However the communists in power were acutely aware of the fact that the times of the 50's when brute force and people disappearing into uranium mines and labor camps because of resistance to communism were long over. So situation existed where the ruling clique lived comfortable lives with their own stores, medical care and free travel to the west and the masses were allowed to quietly steal from the collective to improve their situation, participate in black market and privately among friends and family tell the truth about the corruption and the naked truth about the communists. Only thing that was forbidden was to openly challenge the communist system. Then whoever did it was harassed by the secret police, arrested and held without charges and lost job which in itself brought more harassment since there was a law that mandated employment for every citizen. If one was unemployed they were branded a parasite and prosecuted. So that's why these programs, very infrequently, appeared on TV. It was usually in conjunction with music festivals where these western artists appeared as guests. The concerts were infrequent because the communist government was short on western currencies and the communist currencies were not accepted in the west. This continued with increasingly harsh economic conditions and increasing shortages all through the 80's until finally the communists ran out of money and could not even provide the basic staples to the people. So the charade finally collapsed in 1989 in all the communist block. Russia followed in 1991. It's ironic that some fools here in US want that system here now. Maybe they should delve in the not so distant history. BTW the system over in Eastern block was called communism, but in reality it was socialism. Communism itself is a pipe dream and unachievable in real life. I was born in Czechoslovakia in 1960 and managed to escape in 1982. I have lived in US since 1983.
I know that the folks in what is now the CR, weren't all that happy being behind "the curtain" pretty much from day one. Still, having lived in the Western block in the 1980s I was never aware that the Czechs were so ballsy as to have Suzie play there. That is so damn awesome!!!!
@@dizzywilliams3557 Hello Dizzy! It's, for sure, not Gary Moore!! I don't know the name of Suzi's second guitarist in 1979!! The other one, on guitar, is Len Tucker, he was, at that time around, the husband of Suzi!!

Playing, dancing and singing into that shitty PA all at once.
I wonder how many people realise how special she is?
na ten koncert przyszła chyba Praska wierchuszka komunistyczna :)
S Q ,a " ROCK STAR" " always shines ,yes !
👍🌹⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👏
I love suzi quatro 😍
I love those comments from former Czechoslovak TV...What the hell would those idiots do if she changed playlist? :D Born in Czechoslovakia, 1979
I was there, I can not believe what I see. WOW.
You remind me of what the great classical pianist Vladimir Horowitz said about Art Tatum: "I went. I listened. I still can't believe what I heard."
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame give it to her while she is still alive !
They won't look at who is running it
Yes so she can enjoy that wonderful day with her family and fans and friends 💚🤟🔥💚🎸
Seriously... who cares about the RRHOF... they're full of shit....
You mean she isn’t there already? How could that be possible????
Suzi will live forever! (At least in my heart.)
Talented ...Lady. wow. ..cool gig... I thank her....

Great!!!!
I love Suzi Quatro ! Since 1973 I´m a big fan !!!!! From Detroit city to the World !!!!!!!!!
wonderful concert ! thank you for showing us this worthful film !
30:16 shows she's certainly a better bassist than her guitar player is a guitarist.
She's just simply brilliant!
difficult to read

I discovered Suzi in 2023 quite by accident in one of my searches. After 40+ years of looking for 'new' music I am floored by what the USA wouldn't 'allow' on the airwaves! In 1979, I went to a Cheap Trick concert and loved it because they were great but also because the radio was my only leader. Only regret I have is that I missed so many years of enjoyment. Thankfully she has kept on going and left us so much to enjoy! Thank you Suzi!
Czechoslovakian light show, off and on.
Fantastic vid.never seen it before. Thanks for posting

For Suicide there're no words. Today no female singer like her, sorry.
@@haloguy628 Very fe U.S. born and bred have any idea what's going on - they don't see what's being done.
God bless you
i was 15 and enjoyed this concert in Prague live, Suzi Quatro was very popular in former Czechoslovakia
Bill Hurd of the Rubettes on Keyboards and vocals!! I saw Suzi in 1979 in Vienna, Austria.
and Gary moore? on extra guitar,,
@@dizzywilliams3557 Hello Dizzy! It's, for sure, not Gary Moore!! I don't know the name of Suzi's second guitarist in 1979!! The other one, on guitar, is Len Tucker, he was, at that time around, the husband of Suzi!!
His name is Len Tuckey, sorry!!
Still a great Suzi (by the way, a pretty woman). P.S. My secret love.
I just time warped back to every cringe I've ever experienced all at once
Edit: aside from all of the hokey 70s flourishes all over the place, it isn't bad if you don't look at it.
Edit edit: yes it is.
My tam jeli z jižních Čech.Tehdy lístek pětina výplaty, ale nelitoval jsem
I já tam byl a celý koncert nahrál na kazeťák. I když kvalita nahrávky nic moc, ale ten pocit.......
