Holy hell. Whoever came up with that final animation, of the human heads forming the sectoid one turning into skulls, deserves a raise. Great stuff.

XCOM 2 seems like a real labor of love. I've been playing games for a long time and maybe my eyes are stuffed with wool, but this game has something about it that I don't see in a lot of sequels. A real effort to release a new game that improves on the old one. Not a glorified expansion pack.

The XCOM formula was fantastic. These devs really understand that you don't need to screw with the formula. Sometimes you just need more and better. :D
Recently just saw the new Independence Day trailer... wish they just made an XCOM movie instead.

I have on more than one occasion tried tracking DLC, it is not worth it. I would rather skip getting a game in installments and just get the game when it is actually finished.

+Chronicdiscord de Lazy The way I see it the artists and designers are done and they are mainly waiting for the programmers and QA team to squash bugs. (See beaglerush's hands on, great example of the game working expect weird bugs)
So what do you do with a bunch of artists and designers who have nothing to do?
You get them to make additions to the game that don't require heavy programming (Which is why the digital deluxe edition is seemingly all customization and additional story lines)
But yeah, they are marketing these additions wrong.

...I mean, XCOM 2 takes place after you lose the first XCOM, so the failure ending of XCOM 1 is cannon.

Keith Park personally speaking I'm a Gameplay over Graphics type every day. Jake Solomon has also said that he's more on the Gameplay over Graphics side of things too (at least thats the impression i've gotten from the interview clips i've seen with him).

I was really surprised to see a "T" rating considering that the last game was kinda graphic, well in my opinion.

I'm rather glad to see that the ESRB is finally easing up on games such as XCOM and Halo.

Then again, PEGI tried giving Skyrim an 18 rating because of decapitations, and the BBFC gave Warhammer 40k: Space Marine a 15 despite all the mutilation, so I dunno what's up with any classification boards to be honest.

Loved the trailer, but could someone please just release the full game, once, and not put "exclusive" content behind pre-ordering? It's not a bonus, it is holding content as hostage.

they cut some customization options for the game for preorder like helmets and haircuts , witch will probably get modded in a week after release, I dont support bad preorder offers like warhammer total war or deus ex... but complaining of this is stupid

+brajuhani Normally I would not recommend pre ordering, but it's XCOM.
+Makros05 For preordering you get the resistance warrior pack which is still just customisation options. With the Digital Deluxe Edition or buying the 'Season Pass' after the fact for $20, you get the 3 DLCs. Nothing is stuck behind an exclusive preorder except skins, and the DLC isn't necessary. £40 for a /what seems to be/ great game, and an extra £12 for an extra map, mission, Shen's final story, upgradeable weapons and new weapons + armour, as well as 'extreme' customisation options and an extra class? Count me the fuck in.
Also remember the game was supposed to launch in November, meaning a lot of art was probably done by then and just no QA testing etc, so really you're gaining content over what there would have been with a November release.
Ok, it is just customization, what difference does that make? It is still ready content for the release product, cut out as "bonus".
As you stated, they have theyr Deluxe edition too, which will have future add-ons, fine, I have no problem with that. Post launch content isn't in the game we are buying.
But pre-order stuff that is cut out from the game that launces, nope. If you buy this at launch day, you don't get the same product becouse...? You know that content is already done and out, why I'm being punished for not buying into it blindly, being smart with my purchases. This is pretty much something no consumer should defend.
Just stop, stop with it already.

Can I just say how satisfying it is to just see "PC, Mac and Linux" at the end of the trailer? Not that this game would really work on a console anyway, but nowadays more then ever we need solid PC exclusives.

I enjoyed playing XCOM on the 360. It's not like you need precise accuracy for the game, which is the argument for FPS superiority on PCs.

Actually I had a theory on the story. XCOM didn't lose on the temple ship battle, but the elders got pissed af and diverted to new bodies, came in with a larger force, destroyed XCOM, pretended to save humanity from itself, and kickstarted events of XCOM 2

Can not wait, still playing XCOM: Enemy Within (Long War Mod), with over 500 hours and still have not completed it.
It seems like they've made a lot of right decisions with this sequel - which is great in a time where game sequels are usually dumbed down cash cows. Can wait to play it, by far the most promising title atm.
I'm going to be in basic training for two months after this game is released. #tragic

I'm addicted to this game
I have a question about the soldier's outfit. Is there a feature to save the outlook theme? I mean if I want each class of soldier to wear same uniform (style, color, etc), can I save such theme in the game so that I only need to config the first soldier of the class and copy to others instead of having to config each one repeatedly along the game?

+blargh From what Beaglerush's gameplay preview kinda showed, it actually looks like that suit is the replacement for Carapace armor and comes with a free slot for a Rocket Launcher or Flamethrower.

blargh Considering the Rebellion Pack's final DLC that has been announced is called "Shen's Last Gift" and it adds a 6th class to the game, MECs are probably coming back as DLC later. Although I think Gene-mods are still in the base game here.
well thats some good news ^_^ even if it isnt the mec troopers, which would make me sad, it still nice to know that good old shen will be giving us something new ^_^
