    If you want to have your pump underneath your freeze dryer you will need a longer hose. When you place your order be sure to contact Stay Fresh and let them know so that they can get you set up with a longer hose (6ft) and the proper connections.

    I'm so glad I bought my stayfresh! I absolutely loved all the industrial parts they used to build it. Over other brands, If I'm buying something for 3k dollars, I want something that will last and is built like a tank. I don't want something that's made cheap like HR and poorly built. Plus free customer service is nice, Tim is super responsive with any questions! Highly recommended stayfresh, You get your money's worth!!!

    Wish I would’ve known about the stay fresh three years ago when we got our Harvest Right I would’ve bought the stay fresh hands down

    Thanks Eric for the breakdown. It is refreshing to see someone puts quality over bottom line for the stock holders. Once I get my retirement off grid cabin built and my homestead operable I will consider this Freeze Dryer.

    Great vid Eric, saw your review on their website as well. I had no idea about the ball valve for preventing oil mist from contaminating the food. I'm sure to go down the rabbit hole tonight doing more research on this - argggh...lol. The one shortcoming with the owner/engineer Tim answering all customer service calls is that clearly once more units are sold there won't be enough minutes in the day for him to do it all - that's just simple math. So, I hope he either has more engineers to put on the phone (which makes a pretty expensive call center because engineers deserve more pay = higher product cost), or he develops a superb training program for his call center staff. Otherwise customer service will drop, but agree with you that Harvest Right's is not a good method at all. This unit definitely is better built and will most likely be the next unit we purchase. Thanks again for being our guinea pig - lol

      Funny enough I did ask him that exact question. He told me that if he ever got too busy, he would only hire qualified service technicians to answer support calls. 😊. I thought that was super cool!!

    I would like to see a head to head comparison of this machine with the new HR FD like model.

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I can do that. I have the new pro model large which would be the most comparable to this unit.

    I have a Harvest Right, and they are trash. I did a bunch of upgrades to my machine to make it better.
    Harvest Rights customer service is terrible.
    The software for the machine has nothing but bugs and is constantly needing upgraded.

    I'm interested in buying a freeze dryer and saw a few Harvest Right videos, customer reviews, and specifications. Quality and customer service seems to be an issue with HR, but the dry time specs seem to be better for HR vs StayFresh. Any comments on this?

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok So I have 2 harvest right and 2 stay fresh freeze dryers. From my experience the Stay Fresh gets colder faster than the harvest right. My HR unit would always take forever to get down to -20 but the Stay fresh can get there in less than 15 minutes. It could be because of the better sensors but I don't know. As far as freeze drying, I find that they work pretty much the same. It all comes down to the amount of water in the food and the temperature and humidity of the room you are using the freeze dryer in. Mine is pretty constant at 75f. With that being said I find the difference between the 2 real close (as far as dry time). The real difference between the machine comes down to the components used to build each one and the customer service. Harvest right's unit has components in it that are destined to fail. The biggest issue is the way Harvest Right takes care of the service calls. It's kind of a nightmare! They are very secretive about any problems their unit might have and are constantly suggesting shipping your unit back to them for repair. The Stay Fresh unit has parts that can easily be maintenance and when you call they Stay Fresh phone number the person you speak with is the person who designed and built the machine. So you actually get an expert on the phone.. I would stay clear of Harvest Right.

    does the vacuum pump run all the time, even when its freezing?

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No. When it's freezing the pump is off. It only kicks on when the drying mode starts

  • @jago4673
    @jago4673 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Thank you, Eric, for the video. Couple questions I have for you. The pump you got, how much noise is there? I am putting FD in the kitchen of a small house. Consequently, near bedrooms. The second question is why you changed tray temp to 125?

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would say it's very quiet. You can still hear it but (IMO) it's not disruptive. I only changed the temperature setting in this video to demonstrate how to change it. I usually keep my tray temps between 120f and 125f for food anyway. For milk or herbs I will generally set the temperature lower. Milk I like 110f and for herbs I will freeze dry at 90f. Candy is usually higher. 135-145f
