The audio input turns these into nice little tube based boomboxes.

Love those big speakers in the old radios amazing GE made great sounding radios through the years.

Man… The more I watch the more I wish I could buy one of these from you…. Unfortunately I live hilariously far away….

I've always loved these pre-war sets you work on, even with the audio input conversion for Bluetooth you do to them, Seth. GE sure made awesome stuff back in the day, but so did other brands for vacuum tube-operated radios.

What a nice example of early superhet radio engineering for 1936. Never leave the old electroytic caps in circuit! Looks
like some red wiring is replacement wiring. Great sound from a big electrodynamic speaker. Now this is one radio where
I wouldn't add Bluetooth to but use a mini home transmitter that was used at one time for realtors to tell you about a
home for sale and as you drove by a sign told you to dial the AM frequency to listen to their speel on the house for sale.
Yeah I got one of those and connect it to my Sirius radio, then it plays to a freed up AM frequency to transmit Sirius radio
channels on AM! Tested it out once and it works great. Don't ruin old prewar radios with Bluetooth unless you can hide
    the new parts.

I really don't see adding bluetooth as 'ruining' a prewar radio. Collectors who value such things have the resources to undo anything Seth does. Normal buyers desire such value additions. Where I live, AM radio is exclusively far-right Christian stations hating on free women and gay people, far-right Talk stations hating on democracy in the US and static filled sports new which never covers anything local in real time.
I understand your perspective, at least I think I do, just, Seth is saving hundreds of these beautiful old radios every year. There just aren't enough people like you and me to otherwise keep them alive.

@@ethelryan257 I only disagree with your statement on some AM stations having far right hate speech
which are not necessarily Christian owned or operated. They only hate left winged oligarchy types
who masquerade as pro- democracy as they slowly erode any republic's ability to actually listen to the
people who created said republic. They know better than those who they supposedly serve. They never answer
any question that deserves a yes or no answer that is posed to them in any hearings and constantly smear their
enemies, ,yes enemies both by and through all other forms of media. Democrats are the new mafia. No station I
have ever listened to hates democracy but some stations may say they (their enemy i.e. right wingers) do just like
as NPR does. I haven't listened to NPR in over two decades because of their constant left of center lying.

Seth, And another radio is put back into service. Great video, by the way.
I was thinking that your radio was newer than a 1934 so I did a little digging. I believe it's really a 1936, for what that's worth. The "E" is a model year date code. I own a GE F70 which is a 1937.

Just as an FYI, GE pioneered metal tubes and all of their 1936 models used all metal tubes exclusively. So that's why you found all those tubes in it. Not to say you can't use glass one's instead, as they look a lot nicer.

Why do people keep using orange drops and radial capacitors in these antiques. It is not that much more to use axial lead caps that while not wax coated at least look somewhat correct.
