Played radio this afternoon too --- with a K4OGO Rybakov antenna on 15 meters with my ft-891 on PSK31.Super contacts to Texas and Toronto from Bavaria! Made my day!
Awesome video with an awesome little radio. Perfect for those of us who are on disability & cannot afford the big radios. If that mod can be done that would be great.
Happy new year from the England /Scotland border, Walt. Those Moonraker radios are great value and work very well. It's a very small business too, so they put a lot of care into every one they build. 73, Pete M0KNQ
Seems like a hell of a deal for the price even with the shipping, and the display was good and clear even with the glare. Take care Walt and 73 de VE7WNO.
Great video. I bought a AT 6666 for my camp in Maine, and hung a long wire with good success on 10. Thanks for the videos always getting me thinking more radio!! KB1GIY Shawn
The LDG Z-11ProII uses latching relays so that it only uses power while tuning. No power display, and a simplified four LED SWR indication, but most of my radios have those displays.
Arghhh.. I know I’m going to end up buying one 😂 Good to see it in action on 12, Walt. That band has been good recently, had a contact with Australia on there (from U.K.) a few week ago which surprised me a lot. I would have liked VOX but other than that it’s ideal for portable; small, low amp draw, affordable and my favourite three bands. 73 Franco
Y'know, on my long road trip I've started posting videos about, I **almost** picked up one of those firestiks to try on the new mobile mount, figuring my tuner would probably adjust for 10 and 12, but wasn't feeling brave enough to risk it (even though it would not have been an expensive gamble). Now I kinda wish I had. Instead, my trip eventually took me through Milwaukee and I picked up a pack of Hamsticks at Ham Radio Outlet there that I'll be starting to play with soon.
Happy New Year Walt. I dare not buy another radio until it's warmer and the heating bills reduce but that is sure an attractive unit. I went into the shack yesterday but departed back to the house straight away due to the cold . Ah well not long until spring I guess. 73 and good DX hunting.
Maybe it's the great location you have by the water, but you always seem to get out pretty well no matter what you are using. I wish that one of these low-cost HF radios could be moded to 20 meters as well. It would really impact the market.
Hey Walt, this Brit-designed (?) radio with alien eyes seems like a lot of fun indeed. Thanks for letting us know about it. The more I think about it, the more I want to sell my AT-6666 that's a bit too "channelized" for my taste and get one of these or a CRT SS9700V Turbo aka. Radioddity QT60 Pro
Always great to experiment. Seems like a fun radio. What is the model of your mag mount. I cannot find one that accepts 5/8” threads. Thanks. 73s Happy New Year
Hadn't heard about that mod, you know now that you've talked about we have to see it in action. So I'm wondering if Moonraker is thinking we need to send Walt something for all these sales we've gotten lol
Great video. I have an AT-6666. Love it but haven’t made any contacts yet. I think my SWR is kinda high and I’m using a Tran 1499 antenna. I haven’t mounted it yet. It’s in my shed.
Excellent video. How do you log contacts as RI. Do you just change grid square in QRZ? BTW just watched the Master of Europe trick video while researching this question. LOL
That a great working radio ! I still have my RCI 2950 DX that does 10/11/12 meters and I got a OG 2950 that is just 26 to 29.999 MHZ . They still work but the newer QT 60 had much better RX and filtering. and 60 watts to 25 watts on 2950 . It is cold and windy in NY as well. A cold bite in the air. I wanted to do POTA but the wind did me in. That band noise is from solar storm around the first . it is getting better . Get a 30 or 50 AH LiFePO4 battery and talk QRO portable from the beach ! But wait for warmer weather please. Stay warm ! 73 from COLD NY !
Wow they must have raised the cost. There was a $49 and a $60 option the week before Christmas. I paid $60 for DHL and got it in 5 days and it arrived before Christmas. I show the receipt in my other video on this radio.
Hi Walt! Happy New Year to you and your family, sir. Question: if you are able to do the mod on that radio, are you going to consider using it as a mobile, or keep it for portable? I'm curious about your thoughts as to if mobile use, what you'd think about a tuning antenna like a Tarheel or something similar? John, N8SGM.
I wish someone would have a rig like this, but with 6 meters included... Maybe the next iteration of the G90 and/or G106 could add 6 meters? XieguX6200, are you listening?? I do have the X6200, but at almost $800, it's more radio than I want to take out at times. 73, Keith, WB2VUO in Amherst, NY
20m coverage on the Titan? I don't think so with this radio? I believe 12m to 10m is all it can cover. If you do find a way, make sure you share that! I bet if you ran the QT80 and just turned the power down, you would have better results overall, however it's all radio, and all good fun! 73
Well I guess not. The Moonraker shipping is almost $92. That brings the price up to $250. I'd rather have the QT80 if I'm going to spend more than a couple hundred.
Not sure if adding those bands are a good idea. I really doubt the passband filtering will be good enough to handle anything more than 10/11/12m. You certainly don’t want to put out all kinds of spurious emissions. I would imagine power output would drop substantially as well. I say stick with your G90 for the other bands.
Walt, I'm gonna have to unsubscribe from your channel. I can't afford to keep buying all these radios you show me! My wife is sending me into a 12 Step Program...
IT's amazing the amount of stuff I've bought just watching your videos Walt. Here I go again... LOL
True

Wow... 20 to 10m? Looks like I'll have to get one now! (as well, thanks for taking the time to make your videos) 👍
great video - greetings from the UK
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!

That's one great little radio, THANKS very interesting stuff 🇺🇲🇬🇧👍
Thats exactly how I feel at the end of a hard week or day. It's just fun to tune around and see who you can find. 73, KC1RVK

Wow I really like that radio. Looks like it works well and I really like the layout of the screen.

Good morning Walt, nice little radio I was really impressed. Happy New Year.
Happy new year radio sounds great, interesting about the mod and would definitely buy one if could be opened up for 20
Wish we could have seen the radio as you was working it.
I did that in the first video of this radio, link is in the description
AWSME RADIO !!!
Happy new year my friend! -73
👍Thanks for video Walt. Setup doing FB.

Thanks for another Great video Walt!
I might have to look into a speach processor as I sound like Mickey Mouse!
Best regards, KC0RMK

COASTAL WAVES & WIRES Rocks!
The original version of this radio was called the, "Magnum One". The magnum was more powerful and a slightly larger radio.

I want to play ham radio too but work and family keeps getting in the way
Oh my I may need another radio

Next time my wife asks how many radios do you need, I’ll tell her to ask you!😄 73! K3DMM
Always great to experiment. Seems like a fun radio. What is the model of your mag mount. I cannot find one that accepts 5/8” threads. Thanks. 73s Happy New Year
Hi Walt, nice radio and certainly works well. Have you thought about using ham stick antennas on those 3 bands? Happy New Year to you and your wife.
Dude I have the same tuner....It'll will tune a chainlink fence!!!
Fun. Didn't know it had a 20-10 mod option. Interesting. Maybe you could do a vid if/wqhen you go for it? Thanks, Les. KK7TPM

Walt, they want $92.00 to ship that to the US. The radio is priced great, but I can't go for that shipping.

I believe you Walt, I wish they hadn’t raised the shipping price because it looks like a cool radio. I will continue to use my AnyTone AT-6666.
Ah I see you've a slidewinder. I've had very little luck trying to get mine to work.
I am curious about that mod myself. That mod could make it a decent SSB POTA rig.
Hi Walt! Happy New Year to you and your family, sir.
