I think it’s really cool how the channels participating all have different playing styles and it will be interesting to see how each “farm”takes shape because of it.
Thanks for watching! If you like the 200hp challenge - this is just the beginning, I'm planning on doing at least 20 episodes on this challenge. Here's a playlist of the 15+ people who are also doing this challenge in parallel! th-cam.com/video/Y8BuBcuswWg/w-d-xo.html
haha, yeah. I recorded before everyone else did theirs, and immediately (before i released, while editing) regretted that mod; I have since removed it, and I discuss why in Ep.02. A few others have also used it - from my perspective, that mod is the same as hiring a tree service to come take away all your trees and sell them for you so you don't have to. I had already "paid" the EDC tree service to clear all my stumps, and we'll just say that they took care of removing the wood also!
tldr: This mod sells by liters, not quality which means you always get the most for your wood. For anyone else exploring the Mobile Sell points mod (and the "Wood Container" within - the reason that it's a more "cheaty" than the other wood sell point in that pack (ie: the one that looks like a table saw) is that if you only use it for selling - it sells "perfect" wood by the liter. But what does that mean? Normally, when you sell wood in FS22, you get a "rated" price for the wood you're selling based on the way the game mechanics looks at how "good" the wood is that you've brought in. Many people have done lots of research, but essentially, it's looking for perfectly straight wood, non tapered, and between 6-8m. This logic is why if you sell a full tree without cutting off the branches, you'll get one price, and if you cut off the branches, you'll get a slightly better price, and if you cut into 6-8m segments, you'll get an even better price. This mod will sell by liter, and assumes that you're selling perfect wood. This is also because this container actually acts like a sawmill production, with just a pass-through for the WOOD fill type. When you "Sell wood" to this production, it takes in the total liters of the tree regardless of tree type, wood quality or any other factors... it just becomes liters of WOOD. This means that if you put *any* tree into the container (not just the harvestable ones like you put into a platinum edition container), and you set the production to "Selling", you'll get the maximum value of that wood per 1000 liters. There is NO OTHER WAY to get better money for a tree than using this mod, especially if you sell at the peak time / price for WOOD (which you can't even see on Calm Lands).
Nice work, I just finished up my first episode. Nice choice of starting tractor. Your second one looks great too. Wow…. You made a ton off those trees. Look forward to next one 😁
i was surprised at how much i made on the trees - but the trees on this map are a bit more sparse than say Hinterland or NML - can’t make it my only source of income. i was looking through the buildings, and there are actually a few customized productions for the map that i’m looking forward to checking out, it’s going to be fun!
Feb. 9, 2024 Interesting to see how many different content creators are joining in on this challenge. There are an additional 3 besides the ones you have listed: FS_Dave; CS-Benji2020 and Zorch Farming. Their links are listed in the description of Mr. RustyMoney Gaming Hillside 200hp Challenge Ep 1. Have fun and see ya in the next one. Take care.
Just updated my list right now, @Dustbunney54. I just finished recording Ep.02, will hopefully post tomorrow! Then, if I have time, also doing a AutoDrive tutorial on the map for those new at it, hopefully record and release this weekend.
Hi Josh sorry I way behind on my video watching, real busy in real life but I will get caught up eventually. A really different start from the others I have watched so far, it’s fun to see others take on this challenge. We will have to call you Josh the land Baron LOL. great episode look forward to the rest. 👍👍
Thanks! I'm enjoying the different take on this challenge - but I've come to realize after this first one that I may have "attacked" it a bit faster than I needed to. I should have taken my advise and "Stay Calm"... changes to how i play it are incoming.
default is 200k liters, but if you use the upgradable factories mod, it can be upgraded to millions - that’s what i did on the Shanty boys breakfast challenge.
that’s Jo’s’ Mobile Wood Sell Point, which has 3 sell points (bale, bulk, wood) and the container, which is in the production menu. the container acts as a production, and will take any wood, regardless of “quality” … it will even take the trees most people avoid (oak, hickory, maple, etc.) you can use it to distribute to other productions, or just sell direct at a small loss. on easy mode, it’s still way more than i’m used to on hard mode!
I can do my best to share it... not all of the mods are public, but I've been trying my best to at least use mods that are *available* publicly... I can't say for certain that I haven't "fixed" a few of them along the way. *hint, hint* - I'll post the full list of mods on my discord, (with some details on which were editeded) if you're curious!
I used that same sheep pen on No Man's Land on Console and it caused a save game issue and kept blue screening my game. Removed it from the game play and has not happened since. Hoping it doesn't cause any issues on PC
That's a good warning! I'll keep it in mind if i end up using that pen, or maybe dig into the mod and see what's causing the issue. Thanks for watching!
You know - i struggled with that same question too. technically i don’t believe it is because it’s both on modhub and a production building - so the mechanics that make it great are the same as other productions. the challenge rules specifically prevented unreal capacities on equipment, not productions. all that said, i talk about it in episode 2, and stop using it.
thanks for watching! not a stream today, but at least the premier feature lets me chat with people - i purposely did it early so folks who don’t normally get to join my streams could hang out and chat also!
First time watching your videos only 17:50 in. With "challenges" the struggle is part of the experience. I've not seen the mobile production mod before, it's not for me.
@dirksellsted6929 I totally get it - when I play in a single-player or on a survival-type play-through, I'll usually stay away from it and load logs with another method. Once I had recorded this video, and seen how the other creators were attacking the challenge - I almost dumped all my recordings and started over... but left it in to show perspective. Everyone has their own methods, this is one... but not a popular one, that's for sure. I talk a bit about removing it and not using it anymore in the next video in the series.
love that mod u use for the tree's ive never come across that before im now going to start my content so i'll uploading sunday so keep ya eye out peeps
Agreed! It's a little OP depending on how you look at it, and I've been using it constantly since it was added to the mod - which is the Mobile Wood Sellpoint by Jos, over on ModHub. The container I used is in the productions menu, and easy to miss - the icon for it is a silver container, but it is blue (almost black) when you place it. It's also super useful for collecting wood, and using the production chain "Deliver" feature to deliver it to an owned building that accepts wood!
Thanks! RE: the beeping - that was actually a text text coming in on another device that i had forgotten to mute, but i couldn't cut all of it out without re-recording. hopefully it didn't take away from the content!
Thanks for watching & commenting! I see how you'd think that I may have failed, but the "goal" for this challenge was up for interpretation to every player. I decided to play my way, you can play your way. I did actually check with the challenge creator before using those items, and was told the same - to play how I wanted, with the main rule to adhere to being the 200hp limitation. That said - I realized after this episode how the container mod felt a bit like cheating and didn't use it again. I'd suggest that watch more of the series and see how it evolves!
I think it’s really cool how the channels participating all have different playing styles and it will be interesting to see how each “farm”takes shape because of it.
that’s my favorite part - we’re all approaching it differently… for this one like how it’s not a competition, so it’s much more chill

thanks so much for watching. the FS community is strong!
Im loving content creating so much fun and making new friends
This sound great! I think I'll join the fun!
thanks for watching @fs_dave!
Very cleaver start Josh. Love it. looking forward to see the progression.
thanks for watching! it’ll be a different take for me - especially without my normal huge tractors and ridoncoulous capacities!

@@gmngjoy no problem bud. It was a pleasure to be there as like you said, I'm normally asleep when you go live.
Nice work Josh👍
thanks bruce! always more fun to be doing these type of challenges with others. just wish i had more time to do them all!
Great work josh mate 👍
thanks for joining the live! if you’re interested you should join the challenge too!
@gmngjoy your welcome mate, and I may have to give it a go mate 👍
Awesome
thanks Norman! having a good time trying to work through the 200hp limit!
It's amazing how much you can put in that container 😊

A better bale trailer might be the Aguas Tenias Platform Trailer Pack which do Autoload bales and pallets
thanks mark, i checked it out, looks seeet. i might try it out after i convert it to UAL. thanks!

Doesn't the mobile wood sellpoint thing violate the unreal equipment rule?
