    Bought mine ~2 months ago, went with the XSE trim with premium package for mainly the higher charging speed(6.6kW vs 3.3kW) and heads up display. I thought the novelty of driving electric would wear off, but still get a smile every time I plug in. The driving efficiency with this thing is great: electric for around the city and hybrid engine for road trips, so even when using gas its maximizing mpg. Tack on AWD, reliability of Toyotas, and the surprisingly quiet cabin and I think this is as close to a 'jack of all trades' as vehicles get.

    I have never been much of a Toyota fan, but have been researching the Rav4 for a while and come to the conclusion that the Rav4 plug-in hybrid (or Prime in the US) might be a car to consider. I went to the dealer and it so happened that they were able to get their hands on a handful new rav4s (Prime) with the x-edition (in Sweden) . After looking in to it a little bit more they also had a democar with all the bells and whistles available (almost all but alot better than the x-edition). So I went for it and on Thursday I will be picking it up. So excited to see how I will like it in the long run!

    I’ve had my Rav4 Prime for about 10 months so far and have about 18,000 miles on it so far. I just love this car. Most of the time I’ll charge it up and it will last for around 42 miles, that’s enough for me for a day. But you’ll have to get a charger at home, then it will only take less than 3 hours. It has that Toyota reliability and solid resale value. Not to mention a real good build. And the power of this thing is just crazy!! 300+ hp!! Dude this thing takes off. Love it and really happy that my wife and I bought it.

    The battery is NOT in the same place as the hybrid, it’s mounted UNDER the car, hence the slight lifting of the body!

    I don’t understand why some people do a poor job at getting the facts right: to keep your battery charge level you put it into HV mode, not charge mode. Charge mode will actually charge your battery from the ICE

      CHG mode wastes a lot of gas from the ICE. Not efficient!!!

    I don't mind the 12 hours on 120v/16a. You have to think of it as gas mitigation not an EV. Gas does go bad after about 3 months, I mostly burn gas on highway only myself. My neighbor has a Prius prime, used it as EV only for like 2 years went for road trip the gas was completely bad and had get whole fuel system flushed out.

    We have a 7.5 kw home charger our RAV4 chargers from 0 to 100% in around 2 hours…..KABOOM.

    I finally picked up my XSE with tech package in April, 2022 after 22 months waiting. Would like to share a few things about my own experiences. I ordered the plug-in version as I can order a decor so that I can drive on HOV lane by myself. That's one of the huge difference not too many people have mentioned. I live in a condo and there is one unofficial charging parking spot that shares with a few other EV's. It takes 12 hours to charge from 0 to 100%. I read a comment below about 3 months is the max to keep the gas in the tank. I even emailed Consumer Reports to ask about but couldn't find a good answer anywhere else. I also read somewhere about charging 100% each time will shorten the life of the battery. Wonder if anyone can share about their views. During the summer, when it's fully charged, it showed 83km range. Now it's winter and it's down 71km. That's a huge difference. With AC or warm air turns on, that even shrinks much faster. There are a few things I wish Toyota would do it differently - the cargo cover should be mounted to the rear hatch like my previous CX-5; charging outlet should be in front of the front door rather than behind the rear door; comparing to CX-5, I find the interior and cargo area less roomy.

    Ordered over a year ago. Dealer tells me it could be 2 more years! The wait in the US is a few months. Ridiculous!

      I ordered last October, dealer first told me would be 3-6 months. I am still waiting and now they told me could be 1 more year. Maybe because I live California and the demand is high

    The faster charge time is a part of the premium package only on the XSE. 4 hours goes down to 2 hours.

    Dan, Of all the RAV4s that are impossible to find in dealer inventory today, I would still rate the ordinary Hybrid as Number 1. 😂 Hopefully Toyota sorts out that rusty high voltage cable issue sooner rather than later. In terms of interior space, you get your 6'3" into a car much easier than I get mine. Toyota's main compact CUV competitors (like the CR-V) have left the RAV4 behind in interior packaging. I hope Toyota addresses that shortcoming in the next generation. The new Toyota 'infotainment' system coming with 2023 models ought to address the camera issues. Finally, as a Canadian citizen, I would far prefer the Federal government use 'spare cash' to subsidize public transit not the purchase of personal electric cars.

      @@rightlanehog3151 EV sales in Ontario fell off a cliff when the provincial rebate was axed. Almost two thirds of new vehicles sold in Norway are electric - a country that incentivized purchases by making them tax-free.

    Can you help us understand what we're getting into if we put our name on the list for one of these? It's rather strange to request a car based on the 2022 model, when you know you're far more likely to get the 2025 or later, which don't even exist. I can guess that the 2025 will have similar features, likely better range on a charge, but I'm not a "car guy", so I have no way to know how to think about the vehicle that I'd eventually own if I ordered the RAV4 Prime today.

      It's definitely not an ideal situation, but such are the perils of shopping for what I'd describe as a specialty vehicle at the time when supply chains are still playing catch-up on the shortages that have plagued virtually all industries since the pandemic hit (the RAV4 Prime was already a hot commodity pre-pandemic).
      My recommendation is to work with your dealer to try to get an understanding of the approximate wait. Forums are a good place to start, of course, but you'll get a better understanding of the situation and how it will impact you directly by chatting with the staff at a Toyota store. Since the current RAV4 was introduced in 2018 (as a 2019 model), is very likely that even in 2025 it will be largely unchanged. Maybe a few minor tweaks, but nothing that should change how you feel about it if you like the look and feel as it exists today.
      Signing a refundable deposit deal means you can walk away should you so choose, but it gets your name down so it can be associated with an order.

    18.1 kWh for 68km. Isnt that far less efficient than a true EV? Or am I interpreting this wrong?

      Toyota locks out more capacity so they can last their 10year/350tkm warranty. But hybrids are also less efficient than pure EVs.

    I was quoted $2500 deposit for a prime/tech package, with no actual delivery date. Instead it might be 3-4 years. 😳 Going back to the drawing board.

      I believe in certain markets like Australia, yes, but not in North America.
