This toccata is an anomaly in the genre - it sounds magnificent at any (reasonable) tempo, whether fiery (here it is quite marvellous!) or at a more stately pace.
Etienne Gigout himself tent to run it at stately pace AFAIR. Most today players render it way to fast. It is not a runaway, it is an entry into Heaven.
Zauważ celowe przesunięcie fazy dźwięków pomiędzy ręką lewą a prawą. Jak by lawina się osuwała. Rubato... zamierzone. Wyzwala efekty dramaturgii. Utwór trudniej zagrać w takim tempie płynnie. Ogromne skoki palców na klawiaturze.Praca stóp.
