I started drawing last year and ever since then i've been drawing nonstop. Now I know how to do anatomy, colouring, shading, some other stuff. Those hours of drawing each day really improved my drawing
I have been practicing digital art for a while. My art before was really bad, but now I can draw and paint realistic paintings! I’m only eleven! So to everyone reading this, your age in art does not matter, just practice and practice and you’ll be able to draw anything you want!

Same. Like, yes i do laugh at my older drawings, but at the same time, im proud i was able to make them. I envy my younger self even for having the chance to draw and finding friends who're supportive of my drawing and story-making and we all do these things together for fun. I miss those days~ currently, i've stopped drawing... Mainly because my responsibilities gave very little time to myself now. When i get to doodle, or have a story/drawing idea, it doesn't get polished so they ended up just being notes.

I’m 29 and started taking drawing more seriously during the last year. I can draw from reference ok but still want to improve a lot. If I draw from imagination my drawings look like a kid drew them. Definitely something to work on
I say find reference to make up your own image, that's the #1 thing I found out that made me a better artist, you'll still have photos to look at but each of them should serve a purpose ( one for pose, one for clothes,one for equipment etc.). And imagination comes to you later if you do that because it builds up your visual library way quicker than just copying
Never stop using reference. There's this taboo in art that u shouldn't use reference. BUT u should use reference to SUPPORT your imagination and art work. We are not google so we don't know everything. It's also a good way to build a visual libary
I'm always surprised when people have drawings from so many years ago. I don't think I still have a single drawing that is a decade old. Don't think I have anything from that long ago aside from maybe a couple books and really old teddy bears kept for sentimental reasons in a box somewhere (one of which actually turned 30 this year I believe :o).

You’re lucky that you still have your drawings back in your childhood. Mine was thrown away by my Dad because its a waste of paper. He threw it away when I wasn’t in our home.

Same my grandma did that once! I was so annoyed because even though it was a trashy art book, I still wanted to keep it as a memory. Like that old notebook was kept in the shelves! I dont know how she managed to throw it..

Weird Mindset but I try not to laugh at my drawings from my childhood cause I was really proud of it at the time and to see my older self laughing at it would hurt my younger self's feelings... lol
I don't know, I can't laugh at another person's drawings because I know very well how bad I was/am at drawing and how many bad copies I made as a kid.

Damn bro i fuckn felt it when u said that u planned on developing at a certain pace within a certain time. I am 15 and im doing what u did then. Ive developed a lot but i feel somehow empty as so many people nowadays are easily younger and better. There used to be prodogies at 12 but now i see alot of 12 yr olds drawing amazing shit. It motivates me but also i want to draw mangas and shit so i feel like "is this worth it, will i be good enough, will i get some disease or any thing that curses me not to draw" and negative stuff idk why.......i think of the future too much i guess....
Hey man, when I was that age and still even now I overthink a bunch! But just letting you know that don’t let that stop you and try to just get past those negative thoughts. And trust me everyone thinks like that here and again so it’s nothing to worry about. Just stay positive and do what makes you happy! Also on a side note, it doesn’t matter how you compare to others; I know a lot of people say this but trust me it doesn’t. Especially if you are enjoying what you are doing. Just use that as motivation if it bothers you a lot but try to let that go and just be happy and have fun! You’ve got plenty of time to get better!
Compare yourself to who you were yesterday not to who someone else is today, if you want a fair competition you must "defeat" yourself, that's the best way to improve
i recommend avoiding social media whenever you’re feeling down like this. instead, look back on old drawings and see how far you’ve come. good luck!

The person who ignited my passon for drawing was my brother because back then he use to draw a lot and after a few years he stopped doing it while I kept on drawing like it was part of my everyday routine. And now that I'm a lot older than when I started , I didn't even noticed that I already surpassed my brother because up until now I still feel inferioir to him. Maybe because I admire him so much to the point that even if he draws an ugly one I would still be impressed.

That was really fun to see. In High school at about 16, I decided to start taking art seriously and started sending my art to Editors at a book publisher. I was soooooo not ready. I drew every character from eye level basically straight on. I still have trouble with perspective

To be honest kuzo isn't the best if you are trying to learn how to draw. A few recommendations would be Proko, Sinixdesign, moderndayjames, Mohamed agbadi, and Ethan Becker. Those dudes have extremely good shit .

You should keep them in one place. Or have that one folder/envelope specially for them. When i was in grade school, my mom hated that i drew a lot, she'd always throw them away when she finds them and tells me im wasting paper. I kept drawing anyways but learned to hide it and keep my stuff in one place that she can't control which is amongst my art projects and activities where she can't tell if they were graded works or just me drawing. 😜 I was able to save my drawings starting from 5th grade.

I thought this was part 19 so I took 20 minutes looking for the other parts but realized he was showing art from when he was 9 through when he was 19.
I’ve always been a perfectionist so I don’t actually have much of my drawings anymore. Before I felt happy that my trash drawings were gone, but now I feel sad I can’t make fun of them as well as really just seeing how far I’ve come. I will say though, in the last year was when I started improving the most(I’m 13) and I do have some drawings from before I started improving a lot and it was funny as well as a big motivator for me to keep going. A lot of times you don’t notice how hard your working and how much your progressing until you take a step back.
Thank you for this! My now 10 year old has a passion for drawing. I see how you started is how he draws now. I started saving his drawings since 5 years old so he can look back at his progress.

These are kinda good for the age you where drawing in and honestly you start off drawing an anime character and that’s how you get better and better,when I was 5 since that’s the age I started watching anime on I used to draw a circle and upside down semi triangle 😂

All these artists have a huge difference between 14-15 but that’s because they only show there good drawings this is a proper transition and right now I’m younger than you at 16 but my art is around that level and you got such a huge increase of skill after idk if I can do it ,

This really hit me hard. I’m a senior in high school right now and really want to make drawing my profession hopefully in the video game industry and I’ve felt pretty stagnant for a while I even had a bit of a 2 day depression where I’ve felt super awful about my art skills. Idk I have it in my head that I need to be a professional already but watching this video did put me a tease a bit. I’m really trying to commit now and go back through the fundamentals and really try to understand them far greater than before I’ve even made a plan for each week what are lessons I want to study and practice. I always feel more motivated after watching your videos cause a I admire you Aton and b you hav really useful advice . I just want to say thank you and keep up the great work
