As a person trying to get their own business off the ground, this subreddit is great motivation to never go back to working for someone else.
American Major Companies be like: We pay our workers not even enough to live on properly but we had rainbows on our store for a month so that means we're good companies.
We really need more workers rights in America employers take advantage of people and we need more ways to counteract it so people can make a decent living
That stereotype in Europe about Americans is very true,on the island i live on we also have a stereotype that rich Americans only are rich because they steal from the poor
"Gen Z taking long breaks to travel, take care of mental health or explore career paths......."THE HORROR! Taking care of their mental health?! Sickening! Finding out what they want to do instead of just picking whatever? How dare they?!
"When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" applies perfectly to this subreddit
The American Business Model. Pay workers unliveable wages with horrible conditions while making them work ridiculous amounts of hours and then pretend like it's just the workers being lazy and not wanting to work when they complain about it.
Robin, keep sharing your rage. It reminds us all that we're not wrong, we're not crazy and somebody's got to pay.
To answer Robin: people like hearing you get mad because they have been gaslighted by their jobs to think that their own anger over these situations is unjust, and hearing you get angry for them makes them realize their workplace is f***ed up and their boss sucks. That's my guess
I love anti-work with robin makes me feel better about my crapy retail job
My mom recently had a huge problem at the hospital she worked at. She moved here about a year ago to get a job offer of trauma program director, which is a huge position if you didn’t know. The plan was she would show off her skills to show them she could take on the job, and then be promoted. 4-5 months ago, she was promoted, and she was asked if it was ok if she would get her paycheck raise later (sketchy, I know, but she’s a nice lady so she let it slide but not for too long). We have now found out that she was never actually assigned the job, and was not only doing more work than she needed, but also getting her wages stolen. She has now been compensated 3 of the 5 thousand dollars stolen at least, but the CNO (Chief Nursing Officer) who did that to her, is a bitch. Oh, and did I mention the part where the CNO said she didn’t want “any drama”? Yeah. She said that.
At this point, I almost want to start a day in June called, “Livable Wage Day” where everyone who doesn’t make a livable wage takes the day off. On, say, the second Thursday of June.
old & rich people: "young people are lazy"
Part of gen z here- I took an economics class for my general ed for college and my teacher basically admitted that the economy has been screwed beyond belief and says it’s OUR responsibility to fix it - oh and he also said that our gen is gonna be cut out of ALOT of benefits that the older generations get to have
The Bee Movie
Really needed this today. My mom just got laid off from a place she has been working at since 2004 due to budget cuts. I also have been working at this same company for 2 years and am worried they’re coming for me next so needless to say I’m still not done freaking out. Thanks for making my day a little less shitty
I have an Anti-Work story:
Company: pays employee almost nothing
