I had almost forgot about this hymn. Sounds so good...i can hear my church singing these words now. Ive been away from church since march 15, 2020 that was the last service ive attended. The pandemic happened 2 days later officially. That kept me away at first. Since then health has deteriorated in ways i dont like to even talk about it. My wife wants us to go back, as that date was her first visit to my church and i had asked her to marry me that day. We are not officially married yet because first covid shut all that down then since money and health has been a struggle for both of us. I do know its GODS WILL to be back.

This is the hymn sung when I gave my life to the Lord at age 8 in our Baptist Church. I went down to the pulpit in a profession of faith before the congregation in tears as a child of God. I was in Sunday School and church services, including Sunday and Wednesday nights since I can remember.....well before the age of 8. My mother is still alive and a living saint.....she turned 90 this month and lives with my sister. I'm 69 and remain healthy and love the Lord with all of my heart. Maranatha.

Dear Pamela, welcome to the club! You are right, many of us understand fully what you are saying. I believe we have to start with the scriptures, please read the gospels and the letters, notice how many times God is telling us that is already done, we have been blessed already, we have the power already, we are already capable of amazing things... please read and you will find that what I am saying is not only true but also will comfort to your heart, mind and soul. Second, how to surrender? That is THE question right? I believe that it's the same as forgiving others, it's a mental decision, a decision to obey Him because He say so... but I do not want to forgive really, I do not want to surrender, really, really surrender, I want to live my own life, do my own things, enjoy my "little" pleasures right? I came to the conclusion that I cannot even surrender, I do not have the power or the real desire to surrender, so mentally, because he say so, and verbally I tell Him "I surrender Lord", then He will do inside you what you cannot do, even the apostle Paul struggled with something, many theories have arise on this, he has some sin, or perhaps a sickness, but whatever it was remember that he said later "I have run the race..." basically declaring victory in his life, he then was ready to die, Nero, if I'm not wrong decapitated him after Paul preached to him, was he victorious? The answer is an absolutely YES!!! yes he was, after all the struggles as yours and mine we also be victorious, YOU will be victorious, in fact, you ARE already victorious because He died for you in the cross, cancelling the edict that was raised against you, all is under The Blood, yes ALL, you are already cleansed with no more or less that with the blood of Jesus Christ our savior who, because of love for you, had to go through that day of torture. The scriptures tell us that He is the one that gives the DESIRE as well as the POWER (el Querer como el Poder), so, notice, we cannot even have the right desires, not in the minimum, and neither the power to do His will... what then? Again, it's a mental decision that we make, say "I surrender Lord, give me the right desires and the power to follow you, obey you and do you will, in the name of Jesus." and leave it there, you have been forgiven (Repent as many times as you have to, He WILL restore you and will give you hope and desire to do His will in no time, without repentance we are lost, this is the first thing to do). Stop asking and asking, give me give me, He already gave you, He already empowered you, you WERE made, notice, were, past tense, a daughter of the living God, position yourself there, your are NOT a nobody, you are so important that the price He paid for you, to make you His daughter was huge, no way to measure it, that is how important you are!!!
In my own experience, I notice that I fall easily when I am busy with everything else except prayer, reading my Bible and fasting, when I go down in this 3 areas, I fall faster and harder... I repent every time and every time He restored me, He gives me a new perspective, a hopeful perspective of life, of my relationship with Him, of what I have to do in this planet before I die.... go into your prayer place and if the only thing you can say is "Lord forgive me, I am a sinner", like that tax collector in the gospels, He will pick you up from there. I pray for you my dear sister, that God give you the right desires, the power to do His will from this moment on and Immense Love for Him, so much so, that you will never take your eyes from Jesus ever again. "ask and you shall receive" He said, do you believe it or not, do you believe Him? Yes my sister, believe it because He said so, you ask and He will do, how? Nonya, non your business, it's His business to do it in His time and how He does it, you stop worrying, your job is to ask, His job is to do perhaps through others, through His angles, through miracles, through providence/circumstances, who cares, don't worry, you asked and because He cannot lie, He will do.
Last, sorry this is so long already, remember the people of Israel coming out of Egypt? I think that if I was God, I would have send cruise ships to take them to Hawaii on a very well deserved vacation, give them good food, music, pools where to relax, etc....How wrong would that be? Very wrong, God took them to the dessert so they could know their own heart... many times God had to show me my own heart by allowing horrible things to happen to me, but He turns EVERYTHING for good, for our own benefit, but He does not want us to deceive ourselves, that would be literally mortal, He wants us to know our own hearts, our job is not to dwell in the past looking on all our sins, no no, no, our job is to recognize our faults, repent, and continue putting our eyes on Him, who WILL perfect your faith, the faith that He ALREADY gave you.

Beautiful song but just if you get to know that we must surrender all for Great Lord..the creator of every creation...and loving Jesus as his messenger just like every messenger that was sent to from God to humans to let them know That there is No God but God...and obey his laws according to the circumstances of the people that the messenger was sent to them and the message was revealed to them.
I hope all good hearted Christian try to find the right path that pleased God...
Because it really angers him to worship his creator...or pretend that his servants or even messengers are God's besides him.
EVEN JESUS PEACE AND BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM NEVER NEVER DARED TO ASK PEOPLE WORSHIPING HIM..HE ASK THEM TO KNOW GOD AND OBEYING HIM....MESSENGERS ARE THE PURIST POEPLE THAT God chose to carry his messages to humanity....and by revealing many truth about the unseen world to them...they become most knowing of God...and most fearing of him...and most loving as well....so they couldn't dare anger HIM or saying something that HE (God)could be not pleased with...
The test in this life is to believe in God without seeing Him(but we see everything that leads to HIM) OURSELVES...IN THE UNIVERSE AND ITS COMLEXITY....SO WE CAN IMAGINE HOW GREAT OR LORD....BUT ONCE WE DIED....THE EXAM IS OVER...AND WE WILL SEE THE UNSEEN....AT THST MOMENT...THE BELIEVING WILL NOT BE COUNTED...BUT AS WE RE IN THIS LIFE WE HAVE THE CHANCE OVER AND OVER TO REPENT TO GOD (Allah) and do good deeds according to the last laws revealed to humanity...by his last messenger..Muhammed..peace and blessings be upon him.
May God guide our hearts with what he is pleased with.
