Dave's had a love/hate relationship with Depeche Mode fans since the 80's. He's had to chase them away from his house. He's had to move. He told this story in that Rolling Stone interview from 1990 about this guy who was hanging around outside his house in England. Dave had to go out there and chase him away from his driveway, shouting/cursing at him. Then Dave felt bad, so he wrote him a letter to apologize and told this guy that he really just wants to be left alone so he can spend time with his wife & son. Then the guy writes back asking Dave if he can come see him the following week. So Dave had to move lol. Dave seemed really annoyed by it, but I thought it was hilarious. Whenever I saw Dave with Jennifer or his kids, back when they lived in the West Village, I NEVER approached Dave. Yes, I'm a Depeche Mode fan but I'm first and foremost a New Yorker, and you don't just approach strangers even if they are famous. But if I saw he was alone getting coffee or something I did stop and talk with him a couple times, and he was very nice.
Well I had a pleasure to meet Dave in Milan in 1989 was great...I had a chance to meet him again in the airport in Milan in 2015 but unfortunately he was very nasty, we were 6 fans waiting for him ...I ended up shouting and screaming with him He went mad at me ...Very big argument.......Unfortunately.......But I think he felt bad after that .....2 days after at the meet and greet with Soulsavers, he actually recognize me pointed at me saying... "You" and then he smiled at me and said not to worry......Shaked hand and that 's it ........
#DesdyZ ...Well to me (and I am not a Gahan or DM fan, I just discover Soulsavers and love it very very deeply) it shows that he is a very gentle person. As I was 15 I was in love with a French singer (I am from Switzerland), I was timid, I never asked an othograph or a shirt, nothing, just a presence... I did his tours for like 10 years (yes I was in love lol), and he was always very nasty, letting me sleep outside (I mean I just was a 15 years old girl) and then coming out of the hotel asking me how I slept, stuff like that - So to read that DG said not to worry it already sounds like amazing kindness... Maybe you should make yourself the pleasure to appreciate it a bit more... Really, often in life we want more and we only realize after that we had much... :-)
Desdy Z What was it he said to you during the argument? I think he just gets frustrated when people show up and expect an encounter with him when he's not willing to "be on" at the moment. I think he just needs some space and privacy in between shows sometimes. That's a pretty funny story though.
Well he was still recovering from his heroin and alcohol addiction and in a week he would embark on a world tour aftet 5 years from devastating devotional tour...he is not annoyed at all
