Great video, though I have a question, when I revolve the circle shape, there's strokes outline along the curves which somehow I can't remove it, I didn't have the stroke on when I created the rectangle, do u know what can be the cause of that?
I totally agree. Although it is quite interesting to just watch it is not enough to really understand WHY certain steps - especially when creating the 3D effect - are made exactly this way. Just mimicking something somebody does without giving any comment or explanation while doing so will not necesserarily make you understand what's going on (which IMHO should be the aim of any tutorial). Any effort of trying to add meaning to all the actions would be much better than an unnerving soundtrack...
In the current 2022 version of AI, using 3D Classic revolve, the Show Invisible Geometry checkbox just makes the mapped art completely disappear. It doesn't show when you Expand either. Anyone know what is going on?
Hi, I had the same issue with my free transform tool, I found the answer, once you Start Dragging...the unfilled box in the center ( it will begin to move) THEN hold the Ctrl key (CMD key on Mac) and it will angle the lines...remember to ...Start Dragging- then hold down the key and you will receive the result you require. You're the BEST creating super effects
3:03 when you delete unneeded path, if you make stroke colored, it makes more visible and easy

Thank you for tutorial, ilike such things)
U're Welcome.
It would be nice if you could upload a video where you narrate it. It would be much easier to follow.

Good usefully thanks
DO anyone know how to make the lines highlight in the same area instead of becoming separated highlight? 1:03 i tried many times :(
Try to explain what you mean. I don't understand
Hi! Any idea why I keep getting this misalignment on the right hand side. Wish I could upload a screenshot here.
I figured it out by mistake kind of- I adjusted the angle in the 3D revolve dialog box during scale to fit.
Just so you know, seeing as no one seems to have mentioned it, that shape isn't a spiral, it's a helix.
Wonderful job, tnx for that. But one question: what If want a Helix with a circular section forming a pipe?
I think you can map the object on a 3D pipe object.
How come my free transform tool doesn't allow me to move the object up at the sides at all? At 1:23
