I think that some vintage ceramic knobs would also look very pretty on the cabinets with the cabinet color and would help to coordinate with the backsplash as well! Like maybe an off white round ceramic knob!

The cabinet color is really pretty but I can’t help but to think of a Hersheys chocolate bar when I look at them! The color and shine is so rich 😅🍫✨
A tip for frequent flyers. When you’ve used down to maybe 1/3-1/4 of your favourite cosmetics put them in your travel pack and start the new replacement at home. Your cosmetics will always be ready to go.
Doesn't work all the time tho. They made me throw out my product cause it was in a 500ml bottle even though there was less than 100ml in the bottle 😭
Cute Shoes. Maybe an insert like, from Dr. Scholls, for extra comfort! I use the gel inserts when doing lots of walking.
McCenna, I admire ur ability to persever and get exactly what u envisioned, because that quality is what makes ur projects absolutely unique and stunning. Way to go ! 🪛 Love ur outfits
Be careful with handles that have open ends on the drawers...they hook your pockets/pants as you are working or walking by.
Hi MaCenna. So happy for you that you are going to Paris with Romeo & your Mum. I went a few years ago at the start of September. When it comes to wardrobe choices, please double-check the weather. Autumn/Fall in Paris actually starts after the 23rd of September. Until then, it's still summer & can get quite hot. We had high 90's. I ended up having to buy summer clothes as I didn't take enough.
True, especially if you come to the south. We got usually warm temperatures until the end of October down here. 😊

From my experience, anything with an "extension" like the one on the left, you will have a tendency to catch your clothing on it on any drawers that are around waist high but, I'm 5'1" so it might not be a problem for you. Either one is beautiful.
MaCenna, your design instincts are superb. I never doubt that your end result will be stunning. 😊
The cabinet colour looks like a 70s brown compared to the rest of the vibe of the home
Started watching channel during Covid. Liked how you tackled the construction issues with such calmness, very professional. The LA problems-such as they are-seem to overwhelm you.
The cabinet color reminds me of when my dad tried to DIY wood stain in our home and planted the cabinets dark brown. Lol

I know you don't want to do a big reno right now, but have you thought about just building a small box for above the microwave cabinet that sticks out, then painting the soffit above the stove the same dark color? The cabinet extension would give you a natural break and going to the top would balance the right side that goes to the ceiling. The soffit just dates the kitchen and would be a quick fix until the big remodel.
Also, on the other side of that beam to the right of the stove top, that smaller cabinet goes to the ceiling and that cabinet is painted and looks nice so I think your idea is a good idea actually.

You don’t have to semi-gloss the kitchen, you could just eggshell so it wouldn’t be so shiny. Feel like eggshell would be your vibe more. Also, I would have taken those silver handles off, despite being the same color as the appliances - they did not go!

Unpopular opinion: but I love the twisted ones with the back plates or the ones from the hardware store! 😂 We have the hardware store ones on a cabinet/closet my husband built in our attic, and I just love them!
I'm kinda sad on the kitchen. :( Not catching the vibe yet. no on the silver hardware to me. It's giving Renn Faire/tavern vibes. I like the bronze hardware idea. The color of the cabinets is coming through dark brown on the camera. With the cream countertops and tile. I am not feeling it. Sorryyy. :(
I think it's the sheen too, with the color. I pictured you choosing a green tone, matte finish. Or a pretty linen color. I think it would give you the moody vibe you want, but keep it classy with your style and would compliment brass hardware easily. Just my thoughts..but if you love it, that's the opinion that matters most lol. Have fun in Europe. Excited to see what's next!
I commented the same in the last video. I thought I might be the odd man out b/c I wasn't loving the cabinet color or sheen either. I also envisioned a green.
@deniseborchardt4491 Not trying to be a Debbie downer and I don't usually Comment often, but I felt compelled on this one for a difference of design opinion..excited to see where it goes next with her overall re-design when they gut the kitchen. It will be beautiful, I'm sure. ;)
I'm with you on this one too. I don't like the colour at all and the sheen is too much. The kitchen in the cottage is absolutely gorgeous but I don't like this one at all so far. I also noticed that I wasn't the only one who thought so, reading the comments in the last video.
I love option 3. Boil in vinegar to remove the gunk. Works wonders.
No denying it I love the cottage in Texas is the most beautiful home I seen you do it's everything a home should be.
Consider the fact you are going to put in new cabinets up to the ceiling so the larger handles may look big now but will be perfect for the new cabinets. The 1st handles with or without the plates are very unique, the other ones are more common ... Semi gloss is extreme , satin is great for wiping down also ... the shiny look is not attractive at all and shows all of the imperfections..

I am so going to change the color of my cabinets! I love this color and I just happen to have the left cabinet hardware that your mom chose. I have a home that was built in the 80’s. It is not flat on the back so I decided that I am going to keep it since your taste is so similar to what I like and I know that would be my best option… Thanks!
i LOVE LOVE The color. I think the knobs you're looking for are so much better. Also it changes the whole look of the tile and everything. I love it!!!

Oh dear. Option three are the handles I removed 15 years ago out of my kitchen. Cords catch on those end pieces and sometimes the handles would grab my fingers and that hurts. There’s more to a handle than what it looks like, think about functionality and whether or not, you’re going to get your finger nails ripped off. And those are from 1983.
The cabinet color is to die for!!!!!!!! I love the next to the last handle the left one is gorgeous. Anything you choose McCenna will look amazing. Enjoy your girl’s trip ❤

I'd say option 2 and 3 would look great on the cabinets, and you could do the "chunky" ones for the drawers :)

Not a fan of the paint choice but the moody vibe is very you! I’m sure it will look great once you’re finished decorating. Seeing as you used the black hinges and they disappeared I’d have just reused the handles black too as you wouldn’t have seen them. If you’re changing the kitchen anyway? But you do you! I love your videos!
Something to remember when you DIY your own cabinets: You need room to get a couple of fingers behind the cabinet pull,otherwise your fingernails will scratch the paint or finish. (it’s not an issue with IKEA type Formica finishes,but the other will get gross.)

I was at Home Depot looking for handles for my own kitchen, and I saw some that looked familiar and I was like THOSE ARE MACENNA'S WESTERN HANDLES!!! lol
Love, love, love the kitchen cabinets. They look like they were always meant to be dark. Can’t wait to see how the walls will look. I know a warmer tone is going to make a huge difference. Glad you’re taking a girls trip. You deserve to have some fun and reconnect with your friends. Like the hardware choices too!
I love the chunky handles! They’d look amazing horizontal on the drawers and a complimenting knob (the ceramic maybe?) everywhere else

Lol Not a big fan of the current color. I think the cornflower blue would have been lovely too. Current color doesn't scream French cottage to me but to each their own. ❤
I'm not loving the dark colour personally as I think it's too dark for such a small space but I think MaCenna just wants to try it out so it will help her decide how to go in the new kitchen in a few years time. I'm sure she will make it look beautiful like she always does but it's definitely not French in style.
Cornflower blue or rather an actual plum/deep red would be so nice
I like the deep, moody color but not the glossy lacquer-like finish. I would have thought that MaCenna would choose a more vintage looking finish... more like an eggshell, or satin.
@@darlenemchenry1104 I was thinking this too! I'm surprised she didn't go for a more matte finish. I know it's high use, but I feel like she did the cabinets in the cottage in a different finish because they're definitely not this shiny.. the color is pretty though for sure!

love the outfits. think about what you are walking on, ie, if cobblestone etc, those shoes look slippery.
The sheen of the cabinets is really taking away from the whole look of the kitchen. I know this was her testing out things that may be a little more daring, but I think increasing the sheen was a very odd choice. It really makes them feel so cheap and so much less professional which is never the case with Macenna’s reno projects!

Omg, the 19 count handles are just like the ones in my kitchen. I scrubbed them up real good with bar keepers friend and the brass came back, they look so good, I did seal them with a bit of rub n buff in gold.

ohhh NO it is NOT JUST A HANDLE...our kitchen reno took 9mos and we took 7mos to decide on cabinet handles. NO JOKE. and now I adore our handles...wait until you find what makes you smile. My faucet makes me smile; backsplash makes me smile, hood makes me smile, floor tile makes me smile. Love your channel...keep posting!!!
Well, I know you all liked the handle on the left, but I LOVED the handle on the right. I was surprised, because off the cabinets, I didn't think it was anything special and it looked pretty much like the others (the left one and the HD one). But once you showed them on? It just has the prettiest delicate curves and it looks so French. It just really complemented the paint and cabinets without being too heavy.
But I think I'm prejudiced against the one on the left because I'm old enough to have seen it in thousands of those light oak cabinets in the 80s and early 90s and even before that on dark Mediterranean style cabinets in the 70s. My parents built a few houses, too, so I was used to paying attention to things like hardware. I lived in an area with lots of housing developments - some average and some very nice. That handle in the left was the one that was in the nicer new homes. The HD version was in the cheaper ones. And, truthfully, I wasn't a fan of either. So it might be that. But the handle on the right reminds me of the beautiful curves of a well balanced, sterling fork seen from the side, sitting on a table. Or like a violin bow - delicately curved but strong.
I worry about those flats standing up to all the walking you’ll do. Especially a brand like Zara, they’re cute but they’re more office shoes. Wonder if theres something cute in Clark’s or sketchers? Or the thrift store?
The sundress with a full slip and cardigan would totally work!

The house i grew up in had handles in the kitchen just like what you showed at the beginning of the vlog. Our pants pockets and belt loops always got caught on the drawers when we would walk by and pull the drawers open 😂

The moment you had the ones you mentioned were from a studio in your hand, I knew, that it would just fit the space and your aesthetic the best. And when you showed them all on the cabinetdoors I came to the same conclusion than you, that those two in the end look the best but the left one just looks better. I hope you were able to get enough of them and can't wait to see, how everything turns out! :)

I’m not liking those dark shiny cabinets at all. Looked better before. They look like that dated espresso dark brown color. It’s too heavy and dark now. I’m sorry but it’s a big miss for me.
this entire vlog i was just thinking like……. “what if i saw MaCenna in Atwater village or somewhere in studio city thrifting with my cousin, OR in Old Town SD…….. i would FREEEAK 😭” im always in those areas, and you make me wanna go apply to a college to actually study and learn interior/architecture. i’m an LA native and love the vibe of the city, but i am also so scared. idk why, but i live in Whittier, a suburb of Los Angeles and am so intimidated by LA and all the ppl who’ve come from so far away to pursue their dreams. i think that got deep way too quickly but like i seriously LOVE your passion for design and make all of my feelings for interior SO validated just by these little Vlogs, and your videos on the main channel, love you girly 🤍 you give this lost 24 y/o so much direction and motivation 🤎 AH love youuu!!
From a complete stranger almost in her 40s, just do it 👍 do the thing you're afraid to do. Worst case is you find out it's not for you, but at least you know and will ALWAYS have that experience to further guide you. They say you regret the things you don't do more than the things you do... and I wish I would have listened when someone told me that at 24 😅😂. But again, just a strangers 2 cents 🎉 best of luck! 👍

The doors look great off of the cabinets that go all the way up to the ceiling. If you painted the inside or wallpapered them they would look amazing.

I am also going to the south of france from septemper to december. It doesn't really get that cold. Maybe compared to Texas but it is warm in the south of france through november and then it gets a little colder in december.

My vote is for the last handle you showed us the big one ….there’s just something about it….love it 😊💕🌸♻️ I don’t think it looks too chunky…it comes across on the screen as just right lol vintage all the way.

MaCenna, I’m also a designer so I usually have a measuring tape with me ( one in the bag and one in the drawer) but even then I will forget it. So, measure your body and find spots to measure things when you out. For example a finger could be 2” inches or an arm, even your hand. This way you will always be kinda of ok.
Have you considered just black as it matches the stainless steel better or do mix metal and styles then you could include all your favourites.
I am always amazed…by what you create…..never would have thought that the cabinet color choice would make the backsplash beautiful…..Wow
I painted my kitchen cabinets black three weeks ago - I painted them onyx by Benjamin Moore and I can’t stop looking at them they are beautiful, now I have to paint the rest of the walls and can’t decide the color and now I have to change the counter tops ( well I don’t have to- want to 😎)

I think what’s throwing me off is the finish of the cabinets? The shine or something 🤔 but yes the design of the old handles with the silver definitely was not giving. Love that you stuck with your gut and knew what you wanted to do and what felt better!!🤍🤌🏼
Don't ever feel bad about trying to go against your gut . Your heart knew those silver handles where never going to do.That is why your designs always have a complete and finished look, because in the end you trust your instant.
