    Great reminder of how versatile a tomato sauce can be & how straightforward & healthy it is. 😋 I will be adding tomato sauce to some dish this week I think 💡

    Love doctoring packaged ingredients (and meals) to make them better! Love the slow-mo pasta, I'm a big fan of slow-motion shots lol! This pasta looks delicious, love the basil garnish and the raining cheese at the end haha! Awesome video, especially for it only being your second video! Cheers from a fellow foodie/creator! 🤗

      Starting trying slow-mo on the water and I'm worried I may use it too much moving forward. Thanks for the comment!

    Another very cute recipe. I think garlic and onion powder in addition to chopped garlic, onion and shallots is too much. The method of cooking ultra dente pasta in sauce and pasta water is great. Non vegetarian style of adding oomph to sauce is a pork chop with bone or a couple ribs or neck bones.

      I like that added oomph idea. I don’t usually have a pork shank handy but you do make a good point of adding some kind of rich meaty taste to a sauce. I’ve been adding a bit of duck fat to my cooking for that reason. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.

    Great video sir! I often use brown sugar or even straight molasses for the sweet element which adds some more complexity. Some other options for umami are anchovy filets or a dash of fish sauce. Used in moderation they don't make the sauce taste fishy but really add a punch.

    Solid suggestions. I put a "like" on it. But I do wish you might have indicated the original ingredients in the tomato sauce. Just tomato?

    • @AlexKojfman
      @AlexKojfman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair comment. I used the standard Trader Joes tomato sauce. Tomato purée, diced tomatoes, salt, soybean oil, dried garlic, dried onion, dried tomato, dried basil, dried oregano. I don’t think it really matters though. Most marinara sauces are strong on the tomato and not much else if it’s a plain sauce. But the principles still apply to most if not all jar sauces. Thanks for the like!!

    Add a couple of anchovies. It really takes the sauce to the next level.

    • @AlexKojfman
      @AlexKojfman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love it. Anchovies are a great salty source of glutamates. My wife made a recipe with anchovies w spaghetti (no sauce) and it was amazing - I will definitely try and add some sauce. Thanks for watching my video and commenting!

    Не плохо, для американца… только зачем туда нужно добавлять сахар??? В Италии сахар не добавляют в домашний соус, в индустриальный могут , конечно…

    • @AlexKojfman
      @AlexKojfman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting question and comment - Tomatoes are or can be very acidic. Italian tomatoes grown in Italy may not be as acidic so no sugar is likely needed. I don't typically add sugar, but it is an option available if the tomatoes or the variety of tomato you are using happens to be more on the acidic side. There is a lot that might be considered forbidden but the main goal is not to limit oneself when they are cooking and use what tools/ingredients/techniques that have available to help the dish along. thanks for watching!

    QUIT WITH THE METRIC SYSTEM ALREADY!!!!! We're in America.

    • @AlexKojfman
      @AlexKojfman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Woah that’s some BDE on the imperial system. Let’s both step back three virtual feet (1 meter) also I’m American too, became American a month or so ago. However… imperial is used in three countries so…. I mean they might know something Americans choose not to.

      @@AlexKojfman I live in America so I choose not to, if you've become American then start acting like it by assimilating to America.
