I can't state enough how much i despise Criston Cole. Instead of owning up to his dereliction of duty he sends one of the twins to fight his other twin brother and face certain death. What a scumbag.
I loved the inclusion here of Dame Diana Rigg as the incredible Queen Of Thorns, one of the best characters in all of media IMO(''Tell Cersei it was me'', epic).
The whole Aegon ii and Joffrey comparison is so ridiculous. Aegon ii actively tries to be a good king and connect with the small folk even if you believe that its out of self interest, thats something that joffrey or even Rhaenyra ever display. Additionally to say that he is entitled is ridiculous, he didn't even want to be king like Joffrey or Rhaenyra. In the books he only accepts when he is rightly told that Daemon and Rhaenyra would kill him otherwise. Moreover, he actually fights the war unlike Joffrey and despite sustaining major wounds carries on and refuses milk of the poppy to be of sober mind even though it would help his pain. Most importantly he is the one to kill Rhaenyra ultimately, but does not kill her sons and lets them live something super unlike Joffrey. It is such a ridiculous thing to say that Aegon and Joffrey are similar. I blame the show writers for this because they clearly painted the Greens out to be villains and made team black to be the heroes when in fire and blood no side really has the moral high ground.
its not a comparison i think, when i watch the episode and he was screaming "im the king" my mind went straight to Twin and i said - a king who needs to say im king its no true king - so its not the same situation but a reminder that he is not the true king

The show is being praised because really, compared to Obi-Woke Kenobi, The Wokolyte and The Rangs of Power, it's not hard to surpass those shows. The bar has been set so low these past few years. I remember I was so excited back in 2022 for HoTD... then I saw the series and... meh. It doesn't feel like I'm watching a Game of Thrones spin-off. It feels like I watching a Saturday morning cartoon version of Game of Thrones played by some actors mixed in with some LARPers.

Aegon didn’t want to be king and actually seemed pretty chill. I mean they killed his favorite child and now people are on his ass for not being good at a job he didn’t want.
The model city that Aegon was destroying in this episode was one of King Viserys’ (his father) prized possessions, possibly signaling his angst for seemingly being “chosen” by his father to sit on the Iron Throne. I place the term “chosen” in quotations because we know that was not Viserys’ wish - it was Alicent’s misinterpretation of Viserys’ last words as he passed away.
I watched a few reaction videos if this episode and was surprised when no one connected the dots when one of the two new characters was spotted a Dragon and then showed him basically in awe instead of being scared. Until watching this video I was starting to think that maybe I was wrong thinking that one of the nee characters is going to be one of the Dragon riders.
I’m still upset that a certain GOT character spoiled the fate of a character on this show. Why would they do that? 😂 If you don’t remember it you’re so lucky.
Because that GOT episode came out a decade ago before HOTD was ever thought about being a show lol , and it was in the books before that GOT episode , SMH

While in that topic, Both Cersie and Rheanrya become bitter against their partners for placing a childs life in danger. Even if Bran did not die, Cersie felt guilt just as Rheanrya.
When rhenyrya says "Healena ,of all people" you can actually tell in her voice that she means that with her bones and Flesh She would never hurt Haelena or her kids.

Although, it's possible Rhaenyra would have a bit of motherly instincts for Helaena seeing as Helaena wasn't too much older than Jacaerys and Rhaenyra didn't have a daughter. Plus, her sister wasn't a threat to the throne since Alicent and the Greens wanted a male to rule. Being on good terms with Helaena would make sense.

In GoT, Joffery said it after being called out for saying he would serve Robb Stark's severed head to Sansa at his wedding. In this episode, Aegon said it while mourning the death of his young son, who was just beheaded in his bed. I'm not saying Aegon isn't entitled, but the circumstances and intent of cruelty are very different.

This was... Disappointing. Most of these "facts" were just obvious, surface-level things that pretty much everyone picked up on. On top of that, some of them are factually incorrect. Do better.
I sill think Criston Cole's turn to the evil / dark side has been done way too fast. The again, I understand that season 1 has done many time-skips. Sad, I wanted to see more of Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra. She, Daemon (Matt Smith) and Otto Hightower are so far, to me, the only saving grace of the show.

The commentary on this is absolutely ridiculous. lol. Calling Aegon's reaction the his young son's brutal murder a "tantrum" and comparing it to Joffrey is insane. I think it's a reasonable reaction to your child being decapitated in his own bed. He states "I am the king" because Rhaenyra is claiming the throne as well. And he correctly assumes that her people are the ones behind the death of his heir. And I'm not for "Team Green" or "Team Black." I'm rather. neutral. Both sides are dreadful, morally questionable, and neither were remembered well in the history of Westeros... But the bias towards Rhaenyra is laughable. She was called "Maegor with Teats" by the small folk for her cruelty and wrath in the 6 months that she actually sat on the iron throne.. There are no protagonists in this tale. They're all selfish and directly cause the deaths of their sons, their dragons, and the downfall of House Targaryen. A disgrace to Aegon the Conqueror and Jaehaerys I who came before them.

This was... Disappointing. Most of these "facts" were just obvious, surface-level things that pretty much everyone picked up on. On top of that, some of them are factually incorrect. Do better.

Sad, I wanted to see more of Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra. She, Daemon (Matt Smith) and Otto Hightower are so far, to me, the only saving grace of the show.

Unfortunately, I agree. Maybe it's the director, maybe it's not. Perhaps it is what the director is "forced" to do that makes the show... lame is a harsh word, how about just "meh" or passable.
Season 2 has been underwhelming so far. As a matter of fact, for me at least, season 1 was underwhelming as well.
The show is being praised because really, compared to Obi-Woke Kenobi, The Wokolyte, The Witcher and The Rangs of Power, it's not hard to surpass those shows. The bar has been set so low these past few years.
I remember I was so excited back in 2021 & 2022 for HoTD... then I saw the series and... meh. It doesn't feel like I'm watching a Game of Thrones spin-off. It feels like I watching a Saturday morning live-action cartoon version of Game of Thrones played by some actors mixed in with some LARPers.
Instead of the image of…not actually Aemond on Vaghar - you could have highlighted the juxtaposition of Rhaenyra comforting her son VS Allicent NOT comforting her son.

Calling Aegon's reaction the his young son's brutal murder a "tantrum" and comparing it to Joffrey is insane. I think it's a reasonable reaction to your child being decapitated in his own bed.
He states "I am the king" because Rhaenyra is claiming the throne as well. And he correctly assumes that her people are the ones behind the death of his heir.
And I'm not for "Team Green" or "Team Black." I'm rather. neutral.
Both sides are dreadful, morally questionable, and neither were remembered well in the history of Westeros...
But the bias towards Rhaenyra is laughable. She was called "Maegor with Teats" by the small folk for her cruelty and wrath in the 6 months that she actually sat on the iron throne..
There are no protagonists in this tale. They're all selfish and directly cause the deaths of their sons, their dragons, and the downfall of House Targaryen.
