This was practically a running gag in Campaign 2. The group just kept killing off Matt's antagonists to the point he had to essentially make one of them a revenant.
@@MetrasovMatt knew it was a possibility. He also knew there was only a 30% chance of the roll succeeding if they even thought to do it. If anything, putting your players in some situations they can easily succeed at is sometimes good. Makes your players feel more powerful than they actually are and gives them a false sense of security which you can use to your advantage in the next fight that actually matters.
In my first campaign I DM’d, I had the door to a dungeon only open under direct moonlight. The idea being the party had to camp outside until nightfall so I could have them followed by the antagonists. I happened to forget one of the party members had a moon-touched longsword, which I had given to them with the intent for it to be a magic weapon without a plus, since they were low level. The description very specifically says they emit moonlight. I couldn’t even be mad about it. It was a great solution and really screwed up the enemies’ plans.
I sorta had this happen during a Tyranny of Tiamat campaign a few years back but in a different way. Our party was in the final fight with Tiamat herself and we were hurting bad. Our barbarian was low on health and Tiamat was focused on killing the barbarian first then finish the rest of us off. I was playing a life domain cleric (who was also a Firbolg 😂) and I messaged a party member during the fight asking "should I use mass heal?" From what he told me afterwards, he was in shock that I asked this but just told me "Do what you need to." So I cast Mass Heal on everyone, including the barbarian, which foiled Tiamat/DM's plan to fully kill off the barbarian. I basically saved the game from ending in a TPK.

That moment as a DM where you are equally disappointed that a fight was avoided and proud of your players’ ingenuity.
I mean if you are a dm and you don’t know a druid has that busted water spell, you are a bad dm
Also the most basic ass move, neither new or smart

Cad preventing Nott from firing the canons is payback for the whiskey incident.
C2 Spoilers!
And Nott payed it back by killing Cad later.

Cad survives the campaign, unlike Nott.

all-time best Caduceus Clay moments :D
Alright alright I'll rewatch campaign 2
tbh campaign 2 is my favorite
It is the best campaign after all
@@MsLeVagabonIt definitely is. Campaign one was great but Campaign 2 is when they really found their stride. Campaign 3....just sucks.
@transientanus Have you seen recent episodes of c3 from the last couple of weeks? I’m interested if it’s gotten better since the new year.
Campaign 3 is amazing, just not everybody's style. Almost as good as campaign 1. But 1 and 2 are pretty hard to beat.
Campaign 2 was incredible.
Travis signing to Laura to stop the bag crinkling 😂
It’s not about it crinkling - they’re not allowed to show product logos on camera. That’s why she immediately turns the bag around.
@@jessicasheff7205 They're allowed. It's about not giving product placement for free.
