I think we are all tired of hearing about peace negotiations. Putin has said he is open to negotiations if the west is serious , but so far the west have not shown any interest in serious talks. And its parliament’s Rada’s term expired in August, too. They would need to vote and agree on any peace agreement, if there’s any pretense of democratic decision-making. The EU/Council donated €50B earlier this year for improving administration, to pay for salaries, legal reform, etc on the conditions that both presidential and parliamentary elections are organised.

The only realistic negotiations can be a) over the fate of the rest of Ukraine. Does Russia take them too? b) over the Ukrainians' agreeing to no NATO membership. The idea of removing the ultra nationalists from power in Kiev may be harder.. Because Russiaphobia is deeply embedded in the culture of a section of Ukrainian society.

A ceasefire only helps Ukraine. Ukrainian morale is nearly non-existant. Their troops are deserting en masse, and their lines are buckling. A ceasefire will allow Ukraine to dig in and harden its defenses. Winter will bring a natural slowdown of military operations anyway. Regardless, even if there is a ceasefire, Elinsky will violate it the first chance he gets. Calling for a ceasefire now is like Custer calling for a ceasefire near the end of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It's absurd

Remember India had a similar experience in 1972, while freeing eastern pakistan to create Bangladesh. For argument sake Bangladesh territory was once part of unified India, but India in 1972 liberated Bangladesh and allowed to exist them as a sovereign country. In fact Russian support to India through that process was significant and stopped any backlash from western countries at that time.

Sadly so is the entire Latin America, just look at Argentina, a country so rich in resources and eveything, used to be as rich as US and where it is today? The elites are corrupted and traiterous, it is easier for them to become landlords on slave plantation like their ancestors, than stand up and claim their rightful place in the world, so they are happy to be WEF overlords over their own population. There are no right materials for strong national elites in Brazil and Argentina, the rest of Latin America is just too small and weak to be a big economic power. In the end there will be 5 polars or 5 currency zones in multipolar world. Russia, China, India and AUKUS for sure, the 5th place is still looking for its candidate, could be Turkey/Iran to rule middle East by recreating Ottoman Empire or Persian Empire, could be African union. Two-and-a-half years into the SMO, with tens of thousands dead and Russia advancing in the east, some Ukrainians are asking a question that had until recently been taboo: Is it time to try to negotiate? “There’s war fatigue in Western society, and certainly in Ukrainian society,” said Col. Andriy Biletskiy, the commander of one of Ukraine’s largest brigades. “This is not the most optimistic moment for Ukraine.” In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Biletskiy said it wasn’t his place to weigh in on what an appropriate peace settlement would be, which he called a political question. But he said he decided to speak publicly-something he has rarely done since the start of the SMO in February 2022-in response to the shifting national mood, which he said was hurting the motivation of troops at the front.
The 45-year-old is a polarizing figure, a former commander of the volunteer Azov Battalion, some of whose members have espoused ultraright ideologies and used symbols including swastikas.
Though polls show that the general public also remains skeptical of deals with Putin, many, especially younger people are ready to accept an imperfect peace to stop the war.
Alla Pronina, a 33-year-old schoolteacher in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, said she began to reconsider the possibility of negotiations after last year’s counteroffensive. Now, with her husband away fighting, she is willing to give up all the territory Russia currently occupies in exchange for peace.
“Where can we go with this war?” she said. Officially, such statements remain taboo.
Continuing the war presents its own political challenges for Zelensky.
Ukrainian brigades on the eastern front are desperately short of men and weaponry. Continued support from the U.S. may depend on the results of the election in November.

As an Indian, who watches India’s national security and foreign policy very closely, and who has no illusions about Modi’s “influence”, or the lack of it, I can assure you that Modi/India has no leverage over Russia to really push Russia/Putin for negotiations with Ukraine and a ceasefire. All that media reporting in the Indian media articulating this is for Modi’s domestic constituency.
Before India’s Parliamentary elections this year, Modi’s party released an ad film where a young Modi fan was telling her father how Modi had stopped the Russia-Ukraine war and rescued Indian students stuck in Kyiv. Modi’s supporters never tire of extolling how influential internationally he is, often manufacturing facts that don’t exist. That led to viral online trolling of that young actor and Modi too. While Modi and his party believed that they would yet again get a landslide victory in the elections, they were shell shocked when they could not manage even a simple majority on their own. So, this entire exercise is among the many continuous narratives being spun to keep Modi’s image propped up and the Indian mainstream media which reports this with bated breath is mostly controlled by Modi’s oligarch friends. Nothing much should be read into this.

It's the USA that needs pressing to abandon the last Ukrainian idea to weaken Russia and agree realistic terms for peace IN ITS OWN INTERESTS - nobody else's matter, anyway. The Russians already have a very generous starting position and so it's pointless pressuring the Russians to move. Russian public opinion wouldn't allow them to move. The West and the Ukrainians have a ridiculous starting point designed to look like they are interested in peace on paper, but the starting point indicates that they are not. That's where the Indians and the Brazilians needs to be focused

India and Brazil are playing a double game. At the end of the day, this serves their own national interest. But things look different from Moscow. It is Russia who has been constantly deceived by the West since the 990's, and Russians the victims of the ethnical cleansing done by Ukr since 2014. And still, they kept trying to negotiate and resolve this issue without more blood wasted. It is not India and Brazil those having NATO at their doorstep, it's Russia. I don't know what other leadership of a superpower would have such patience and openness.
If India and Brazil discussed with Ukr and now they ask Russia for ceasefire and negotiations, it means that they accept Ukr's stance. Russia doesn't like this kind of games.
