I'm giving this guy a shot and I honestly don't know what the big deal is. His lyrics are all like he's writing a girl a love note and it's all really pukey. His voice is also very fuckboyish. How about artists that are actually lyrically and musically talented. This shit is so simple. Try out Tallest Man On Earth, Gregory Alan Isakov, or Shakey Graves. Not sure how this guy already has more views on his videos than these guys. Mainstream radio has corrupted a lot of young minds and ears unfortunately.

Artists like this could do so much better if they simply expressed their own beliefs instead of writing cookie cutter style songs that are all about love and heartbreak. We already have a million and 10 artists doing that and it isn't doing anything for the music industry. If your frustrated with my view on this artist your entitled to that just like I'm entitled to think this artists voice and sound are a bit contrived. And yes any single person can control how their voice sounds as well as inflection. When you hear an artist sing country with a southern twang or sing reggae with an accent that isn't their own they are fitting their voice to a particular mold. Artists change their natural singing voice all the time to fit these personas.
The most liked comment is Idk man people have different tastes. This doesn't respond to anything I've addressed and shows the shallow thought process that goes into why someone likes an artist. Of course people have different tastes and some people like bottom shelf wine while others have a more refined taste that comes with many years of experience. Wine tasting is very similar. Art has different levels of value. You have top shelf Bob Dylan and bottom shelf Ashley Simpson. Your free to like who you please, doesn't mean the artist has put much value into their writing, especially those artists who choose to write about one subject matter when there's so much more important things going on in the world to write about. If you have a voice use it for individuality and not to fit the crowds taste.
