    The redstone thing is a cool idea but just feels kind of jarring, going from a broken down city to this extravagant interior with all sorts of random redstone stuff lying around. Might need a rework on the looks, or move more of that to the jungle temples which are already showcasing basic redstone stuff

    • @izzaaay
      @izzaaay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +184

      agreed, most of the new changes to the ancient cities, namely the redstone tutorials, the dark oak and the blue/light blue/cyan wool kinda ruin the aesthetic. i get the dark oak and blue variant wool items contribute to the lore, showing that illagers have been there, but i think it would be a bit better if it was a _very_ rare variant of ancient cities, somewhat on-par with abandoned villages in java edition.

    • @VictiniTheGreat
      @VictiniTheGreat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      @@izzaaay Maybe they could make it so that that variant of Deep Dark cities spawn under woodland mansions, or maybe make them a bit more dispersed than just under the mansions, but have the rectangle of reinforced deepslate be a portal that leads directly to a woodland mansion room and you have to solve some kind of redstone puzzle to get the thing to activate. I like the idea of the redstone tutorials but I don’t think they should be in the ancient cities, at least not all of them. There should be a couple variants present in villages and pillager outposts. Maybe some basic automated farms in villages and some trap type stuff in pillager outposts. The harder the area the more advanced the tutorial should be.

    • @evonannoredars
      @evonannoredars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      aye the tutorials feel very unsubtle and out of place where and as they currently are. Jungle temples kinda do it pretty well already, with small redstone mechanisms actually integrated into the design (rather than just built hidden inside it as a secret lab type place)

    • @zenu903
      @zenu903 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      YES. They are way too hidden below the Warden portal. I understand them not wanting to overwhelm a casual player but simpler redstone could be used in a lot of places too. It would make the game much more rewarding to explore

    • @user-uz4vy1uy8g
      @user-uz4vy1uy8g 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      it's for the minecraft lore enthusiasts. Noticed how that Wool pile looked awfully similar to Steve's colour palette? The Redstone is there to aware the player that the people in the ancient city thought of using Redstone as a method to escape/avoid the warden. And the allay's sound effects are eerily similar to the vex's, the difference being the vex are hostile and the allays are not. Allays are the previous form of a vex, before the pillagers used their dark magic to turn them evil. (Giving them swords, ability to phase through walls). If you hear closely to a vex's sound effect when it dies, it sounds like multiple screams and not just one.....

      I think redstone tutorials would suit woodland mansions quite well, as something the illagers are learning. There could be a couple different rooms with a couple different circuits in them.
      I also like how the jungle temple incorporates redstone into the structure itself, and we could get more dungeons like it, or like the sculk sensor lamp posts in the ancient city.

  • @SemiHypercube

    I still think allays should be renewable, seems like it'd be too difficult to find them if they only spawn in uncommon structures on world gen. Also I feel like the ancient cities don't really have too many god apples anyways since a) it's clearly an end-game level structure since the loot actually seems a bit similar to end cities and b) I feel like it'd be better if god apples were easier to obtain since currently I feel they're so rare that you'll never want to use them. They should also add like a way to separate the minecart/boat and [block] in like the crafting grid in case you want to reuse them

    • @dtslawyer6970
      @dtslawyer6970 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      My thoughts exactly. The loot is decent but by the time you would ideally visit the city, everything except the swift sneak and otherside music disc is easily obtainable and farmable.
      And we already have end cities (and villagers) for diamonds and diamond equipment, so that’s kind of off the table

    First, the illagers were here, they build passages with dark oak and the wool colours they have at the mansions. • @starsilverinfinity

      Why the Illagers? What if this is the origins of the Illagers - what if the reason they're pale and not exactly the same as the villagers is because long ago they diverged from the villagers to live underground in cities their own way, becoming pale and such until something happened involving the Skulk and maybe even the Warden and they were forced to return to the surface, now a homeless people they build homes in biomes they were most familiar with from their excursions to the surface and now seek to expand further by irradicating the villagers and perhaps taking their land

      My theory is that these cities were inhabited by villagers who were corrupted into illagers. The iron golem was transformed into the warden. It looks like the ancient cities existed years ago, after they died out a new civilization took residence there and repaired some of the worn stone bits with wood, as well as introducing colorful carpets. The wood isn't fully rotted away, the wool is vibrant - those people were there not too long ago. Those people seem responsible for the redstone as well, finding ways to utilize the sculk sensors as a trap to their own benefit.

    Also about structure variation it would be really cool if like desert pyramids were given some different layouts as well. (Reposting this here, I already posted this comment on RayWorks video because I want to see what the community thinks of this.)
    Not going to lie, the loot in the Ancient Cities still isnt enough for me. I dont mean to sound greedy, but what they really need to add are SEVERAL new items that are VERY valuable for me to find. As it stands, most of the current loot are stuff that I can find more easily in other places, or just random enchanted stuff which I mostly dont care about because I can just trade with librarians to get the same or better books.
    How about a new plant only found here, that can be farmed and used to brew luck potions? How about a new enchantment only found here that is essentially looting for bows? How about a brand new music disk just for this place? How about a guaranteed wither skull in every city? How about a new composter-like block that can convert certain blocks and items into XP instead of bonemeal, with rarer or more valuable items filling the machine faster and giving you more XP? Or perhaps instead, a new block/item that can be used to store your XP in bulk? What about rare enchanting books that are a level higher than the normal max level of that enchant, but it costs 50 XP to apply onto an item?
    I mean COME ON MOJANG! Actually make me want to explore this place! Look at 12:00 and tell me that the loot table is the best. It isnt. The best parts of the loot is the enchanted golden apples, which your not ever going to eat anyway as they are more or less just a collectors item due to their unbelievable rarity, and the other main value to these chests is the enchanting books, and again, you can just trade with Librarians to get even better books, except for swift sneak, which isnt even that crazy. It just lets you sneak faster. Its nice, but I can absolutely live without it. Take out the golden apples and enchanting books from the looting table, and what are you left with? It actually largely looks like dungeon or mineshaft loot with several changes and the inclusion of Diamond horse armor, bottles of enchanting, some enchanted pants and hoes for some reason, and everything else is immediately forgettable. The loot still needs a major overhaul. It makes zero sense for the literal strongest mob IN THE ENTIRE GAME to be largely guarding an enchantment for pants and chests with glowberries, coal, candles, nametags, soul torches, and leads. Like, come on.
    We should still be mass petitioning Mojang to add more new loot to the deep dark chests.

Since the release of the End Cities, there was no other structure added into the game that is worth searching out, for example Strongholds and Nether fortresses are like this, altough it is true that you don't seek them out for the loot they have in their chests for example. They should add more content into the game that matters gameplay wise (like the sculk blocks), and is not just another texture that you use only for decoration (like the mangrove swamps)
