  • ARE PREFERRED SHARES SAFE? #AskMarvin
Hi everyone! This is a follow up video based on the first Petron Preferred Shares video that I posted! I realized that I was not able to tackle some key items there, it's just good that you guys sent amazing questions that will be useful and important to other people as well that want to invest in Petron Preferred Shares.
    Some of the questions are:
    1. What if Petron closes down, what will happen to my money?
    2. Can I also sell this and gain a gain in the future?
    3. Is there a lock in period for this?
    4. How much taxes do you may for this?
    5. Do I get other sources of income from this aside from the dividends?
    6. Why buy Petron Preferred Shares if the world is headed to green energy?
    7. Why is the income fixed?
    8. I don't want to invest in this because the income is so low.
Here's the first video so you get full context of this Q&A session: • PETRON PREFERRED SHARES

Thank you Sir Marvin for answering my question. Although I failed to buy Petron Shares, I have diverted my funds to Pag-ibig MP2. I think it is also a great instrument. No tax, less risk and could also give high dividends.

My question is what if you buy preferred shares at 2 per share and then after 7 years the stock price drops at 1 per share so when it matures you loss 50 percent that negates dividend earnings

Hi Marvin! Thank you for the video and all the info as always :)
What struck me was when you said that your preferred shares act like a “rental income” (6:40). I never looked at it that way: 5M at 7% is 350k (before taxes). Divided by 12 months, that’s about 29k per month.
What is your take on doing this instead of buying condominiums or real estate for passive income/cash flow? What possible upside do you see in real estate vs the preferred shares/bonds approach?
Thank you very much and more power to you!

Which do you think is a better investment and have a better ROI for passive income? Preferred shares or Real estate? Because a Preferred Shared at a rate of 6-7% is stable income but doesn't have capital appreciation. Real Estate rental have both passive income and capital appreciation and rental fees can adjust with inflation, but Real estate have many factors and risks like occupancy, need to renovate, taxes and fees etc. Which one do you personally prefer and why?

I like your video. However, it seems like you never told your viewers about the option embedded with this prefs. The 5.5y and 7y aren’t maturity dates but dates of the first call option. This is why this prefs has all the downside and none of the upside vs bonds and common stocks.

That's why, not everyone becomes rich because they take shortcuts. The fastest way to be rich is to do it right and to do it well. Not everyone wants to do that. So i realized that you cant help people that don't want to be helped. The best thing we could do is try to educate them but if they don't want to be helped i guess we cant really do much anymore.
