    Good day, very nice work, it looks like you had some decent plywood there, I am in the process of building a 5-8 mt cabinets in my workshop, and a assembly bench, 1.2 m x 2.4, with double action drawer runners, so I can put my Festool toolbox , in underneath and then pull it out to when I need to decide what router I need or what sander I need, and a compartment in my workbench against the wall where my hoover is going to go then a dust extractor to be fitted, and I’ve got a nice log burner in my workshop, and about half an hour to an hour before it’s lunchtime, I put a baked potato in or something to cook to eat for my dinner, stay safe. Keep up the great work. Look forward to seeing your next project., regards from France

      Thank you. I just put potatoes on to bake in my Kamado but am struggling with the cold temperatures and wind. It may just take a bit longer. I picked up the 18mm ply from one of my suppliers at $42 per 4x8' sheet which was a great price. Mostly void free, reasonably flat similar to Baltic Birch but the skin veneers are very thin. I shouldn't complain too much as the BB ply would be about double that. Steve

      That was a great price for the plywood, I thought I saw a price back in the UK online last week, nearly £200 for an eighth before sheet of Baltic Birch plywood, I have seen some other material mate of ply here in France, do not know what it is actually like, but the prices seem to be around 130 €160 for roughly the same size sheet, over the years I have used a lot of specialist plywood, but we’re going into church or building cases, marine ply, and another product called through and through which I believe is the same as the Baltic but ply in some respect, but when I was doing the job for the organ company, I didn’t have to worry about paying for the materials, I just had to do the job in my contract, even moisture resistant MDF is €68 per square metre, here in France, because I’ve been retired for the last 6/7 years, I’m out of touch on prices, regards from me ,

      @@Hog-g2z I thought so too. This ply was made in Indonesia and is almost BB quality except for the skin veneers. I like BB but the price has quadrupled since the Ukraine invasion. I was hoping to get pre-finished but he was out of it in the size I needed. I am fortunate to live relatively close (within a 100 mile drive) to a number of suppliers. My two favorites are Mark's Machinery in Fort Smith and Penny Hardwoods in West Fork, AR. Both are family businesses who are also woodworkers so offer good advice on materials. They both had great sales at the end of the year so I stocked up for this years projects. Steve

    You have some very nice equipment in that shop. I am wondering if you might have built the cart too small. I built the cart for my PantoRouter 24" wide by 38" long, and 34 1/2" tall, with the left side of the table cabinet open for storage of various jigs. The large table surface on my cart is handy when switching between various setups on the PantoRouter, especially when using various table mounted vertical clamping jigs and different setup blocks and clamps.
    Just out of curiosity, what are you planning to use the PantoRouter for in your shop? I built a jig to allow creating half-blind dovetails on the PantoRouter. I also created jigs for spindle turning, and faceplate turning.

    • @extremewoodworker
      @extremewoodworker  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Charles. I determined the cart height using a hydraulic lift table and chose it based on what was comfortable for me. I intentionally made the footprint as small as possible as floor space is at a premium. My intention is to use this primarily for integral tenon joinery in furniture projects. Only time will tell if I made the right choices. Steve

    • @CharlesHooper2001
      @CharlesHooper2001 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. Your reasoning for the sizing of the cabinet makes perfect sense, thanks for sharing that information. The PantoRouter really does a great job with mortise and tenon joinery. I was initially concerned with the durability of the plastic templates, but the latest PantoRouter newsletter announced lifetime replacement of those templates if they are damaged while being used with the template guide bearings, or if you modify the standard templates for a specific use case.

    Great video steve I was wondering if you have an opinion comparing the Pantsrouter vs the jds multi router. I have the latter and I am contemplating getting the pantarouter since it looks more versatile

    • @extremewoodworker
      @extremewoodworker  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't know if I have a defendable opinion on one versus the other as I have only used the Pantorouter. I had been looking at these for several years and almost went with the Multirouter due to the superior clamping arrangement. Pantorouter improved their clamping system in 2023 and that was enough to sway me to their camp. That said, if I already had one system and it did what I needed, I doubt that I would be looking at the other. Hope this helps. Steve

      Hi Paul. Those are Schwaiger UNI clamps available from Hoffmann USA. I ordered these at last years IWF as they added more versatility than just edge clamps. I tried to use this on the Garden Bench but didn't quite have the capacity (missed it by a silly millimeter) so I ordered several of the larger units as well. Give Gary or Markus a call and I am sure they can set you up. Steve

    Also, what thickness Baltic birch did you make the drawers from? Looks like both the sides and bottom are 18mm.

    • @extremewoodworker
      @extremewoodworker  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I used 15mm BB for the drawer sides and 12mm BB for the drawer bottoms. Salice does make a slide that will handle 19mm thick slides but the slides I purchased will only go up to 16mm side thickness. Steve

    • @HybridWoodworks
      @HybridWoodworks 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@extremewoodworker Thanks! It’s so hard to tell on camera the absolute/relative thickness of materials. Any plans for extension/material support arms or do you find the PantoRouter table sufficient?

    • @extremewoodworker
      @extremewoodworker  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@HybridWoodworks I have no plans for an extension for this cart but longer length materials do need additional support. I use the hydraulic lift tables to support longer stock when required. If you need some ideas, Ramon Valdez has a cart that has extensions. I really like his drawer pull design so intend to borrow heavily from his ideas on making my drawer fronts. Steve

      In over 45 years of woodworking, I have always managed to build what I needed regardless of my equipment including my very first furniture project where the only power tools I had were a Craftsman circular saw, drill, and a B&D jig saw. I have no intention of turning my shop clock back nearly 4 decades to satisfy anyone's arbitrary definition of "normal". Have a great day.
