23k SUBSCRIBERS! Hot Diggity! The Lord picked you two humble servants to show your faith to thousands. I'm no bible thumper but this is such a cool and modern way to show encouragement to those of us that can't get out for one reason or another. You both have gentle spirits that I'm sure our Lord is pleased with. You're helping to feed bodies AND souls. Thankyou ❤️🤗🌴 Annie in Florida

I always enjoy your stories. My Babca (that is "Grandma" in Polish) grew strawberries, pear trees, peach trees, vegetables and gorgeous roses in her backyard and we always loved picking and eating the strawberries right off the vine. She was a wonderful cook like you. She made all kind of homemade soups and made the best homemade pies too. Maybe once the weather gets colder, you can show us any stews or soups you like to cook. Thanks for telling us what a "holler" is. I love your aprons ⭐⭐💜💜

Sounds yummy!!! When I make mine I cook the berries til the juice thickens before dropping my rolled out dumplings into the hot mixture. My family likes a little lemon juice in the mixture too. By the way, I love the canned milk over fresh fruit, that’s how I was raised back in the 50’s.

    • @nancyadamson286
      @nancyadamson286 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I cook the berries/sugar, pinch of salt til soft and at a slow boil. Then I take Pillsbury Buttermilk buns and a new by one cut each into six pieces and drop into berries. Slow boil until "dumpling" pieces come up and then turn over and finish off. Remove from heat and let cool at least two hours.

I thought Maybe your BlackBerry story was going to be like my first episode picking blackberries as a kid. In the heat of summer we were out at my grandmas Farm and my two cousins and I couldn’t wait to get some blackberries, so we talked grandma into letting us go by ourselves. She gave us each an Old bucket to put our blackberries again and off we went. We probably stayed out there an hour and came home with lots of blackberries for my grandma to make into a cobbler. Later on in the evening, we all started itching. Come to find out the chiggers had been feasting on us the whole time we were picking blackberries, we were COVERED in chigger bites!

It made me smile when you prepared yourself strawberries with sugar and evaporated milk. As a child, usually every Sunday after dinner my mum would open a tin of mixed fruit and pour evaporated milk over it and serve it with bread and butter. The other pudding she regularly made, more in the winter months, was rice pudding made with evaporated milk. Thanks for sharing your memories Margaret and for you Corey, recording everything. Take care ❤ from 🇬🇧

I make aprons, too! I made a beautiful floral print, shaders of pink and green and yellow with green and white stripe accent pockets on the bottom for egg gathering. It was a gift for a good friend and when she opened it all I could do was stare in disbelief and cry. I too, had sewn the fabric upside down! She of course didn’t even notice! But God taught me humility on that one. I was feeling too proud of my work.

Oh my gosh that looks good !! I love dumplings....brown beans and dumplings, chicken and dumplings...doesn't matter....So now, I have to go get some blackberries and make this. I have to agree with you on the snakes and bats...and people say look at the head, well, I am not getting that close. A snake is a snake is a snake to me. I also have a copperhead story. If I talk about them, I will dream about them tonight and that's a rough night, lol !! My mom used to eat cornbread and milk. If we had cornbread left over, she would put some in a glass and fill it full with milk and eat it with a spoon. I didn't even notice the upside down cherries.

@@Bunny-8889 Mom would make us cobbler with mulberries and blackberries. We had the best strawberry 🍓 patches back then. They are almost tasteless now compared to the ones we had. You couldn't help but eat them while picking- because you would keep coming up on the big, red, shiny strawberry perfection. We also did elderberries and chokecherries. We all would be better off if we went back to homegrown foods.

I love listening to stories that people have from when they were little!..I could sit with Mamaw for hours and listen!..
I live in Newfoundland and we grew up putting canned milk on raspberries, strawberries and any fruit really!..along with the sugar!..My brother would always shake sugar over a slice of bread and then he’d drizzle canned milk over the sugar!..That’s when we would run out of the sweetened I sensed milk!..lol..and added to tea, coffee etc!..It’s a staple for us as well!..
Thank you for another great video!..❤❤

This appeared in my feed. Just subscribed, your mom's recipes are what I needed. Simple without all the spices used nowadays. She is a darling and I enjoyed her. Will be looking for her past recipes and future ones.

Mamaw has melted my heart. She is so sweet. I never had grandparents and would love to call her mine. I would like to see the following recipes: fried chicken, Salisbury steak, egg salad, butter beans, pigeon peas, or crowder peas, banana pudding, and homemade dressing for salads. If Mamaw has a wish list of items she would like to have or need for her channel, please let us know. God bless your entire family and PLEASE keep posting cooking videos. Please and thank you. 💕🥣😊🌺💐

Omgosh!! Your mamaw just brought back some very beautiful memories for me!!
When I was a kid, my mom used to send us out in the hills to hunt for black berries for her blackberry dumplings!! We would always be happy and excited to do it, because that meant the more we picked, the more dumplings and blackberry cobbler we got to eat!!
That was back in a time where climbing hills was a bit safer, and more popular than it is nowadays!
The highlights of our summer break from school!!
Even when we'd go spend nights with friends, climbing hills and walking on logging roads that were no longer used!
Thank your beautiful mamaw for bringing this to the front of my mind!! Do you know that you are teaching more than cooking lessons?!
We really enjoy hearing about your life and your family!!
    Bless you Mamaw!
You are loved by many!! And I pray that you are overflowing with God's many blessings!!
    💙🙏🏻💙
I know she loves to cook, and it comes from a place of love. But don't let her over do it, or push herself too hard ok. Because she's not letting anyone down when she's just not up to cooking or doing other things some days.
The reason for me mentioning this is because she looked so exhausted and tired when she was preparing for 4th of July.

My French Canadian grandmother also loved having berries with sugar and cream . My grandfather also would take fresh lettuce from the garden and make a dressing of sugar and mayonnaise to put on top. Very delicious indeed .

I LOVE THIS!!! When I was little, my Dad would bring my Grandmom a bucket of cherries, those little tart tree cherries, and she would make this out of cherries. I'm 61 years old and I've been looking for this recipe for forever. Decades, I kid you not. I tried to make it several times on my own and it just didn't turn out right. IM SO EXCITED!!! And I see now what I was doing wrong! Thank you for making this and showing me. I'm so happy! ❤❤❤
