This is so awesome, I’m a mix from the Sioux and Cree up by Alberta and Saskatchewan (Morley AB, mosquito SK) our songs are a lot different but I’ve been searching for stuff like this and it’s so awesome because I see new forms of our culture through songs, I’m proud of who I am
In one day I’ve lost count listening and watching this. Just lost my mom, she always watched these videos. It brings strength to my heart and peace to my soul. 🥺💜🐻
I’m part Southern Ute, Chiricahua Apache and Dine’. I’m so proud of my Amerindian ancestors. One day I will be there at a Bear Dance. My older sister was at that Bear Dance. She sent me videos. It was her first time at the dance. She had nothing but amazing things to share about her time there. Makes me want to jump in the ride and head out there to Ute Country. Thank you Alex for making these beautiful videos. It only deepens my pride as being part of the Great Southern Ute Nation. Creators blessing to all my people.
Yea uou look at a video i made a while back I think it’s in ft duchesne bear dance. I singer talking about that stick, and how it works, along with the box. Thanks for checking it.

Dine here. Finished this book called, People Of The Shining Mountains, by Charles S. Marsh. Learned a lot about your people. Im Navajo, would I be welcome to attend a Bear Dance with my family? Asking because book says we dislike each other as tribes. Always let me gamble at your casinos though.
What a beautiful video! Are you from Towaoc Alex? Do you have family there? Anyhow, amazing video l! Edit- I read your bio… I was just wondering about Towaoc because George P Lee was born there… take it easy.

And why do people all over the world believe that through ritual activities they are participating in a process that takes them out of ordinary secular time and somehow brings the past into the present? The idea of morphic resonance provides a natural answer to these questions. Through morphic resonance, ritual really can bring the past into the present. The present performers of the ritual indeed connect with those in the past. The greater the similarity between the way the ritual is performed now and the way it was performed before, the stronger the resonant connection between the past and present participants.” Rupert Sheldrake, The Rebirth of Nature: The Greening of Science and God
Beardance is a cultural way,us Ute’s celebrate spring, we dance and all get together, welcoming a new year, with fun. The bear awakening from hibernation. That’s what the songs represent, it’s all about having the fun together. Being together.
