If you love someone, you don't co-sign or turn a blind eye to them engaging in destructive and likely lethal behavior. "It's all for show"? The constant unhealthy eating, morbid obesity and lack of exercise is not just for show. It's not like he's putting on a fat suit, doing some skits, and then taking it off and going on about his business. That would be "just for show". What he's showing is his actual reality.
