World of Tanks is finally looking into adding weather effects to the game, which affect the gameplay. Effects like raid, fog, forest fires and sandstorms. Also in this update, they are testing a brand new tech tree trade-in feature, where you could trade-in tier 6 to tier 10 tanks from full tech tree into a brand new one.

That literally allows you to rob yourself of the content of the game. I understand players not wanting to play arty, and occasional line that doesnt suit them, but limiting yourself just to one or two or 3 or 5 tech tree liens an playing just that, is like crazy.
I like the concept of it. I grinded a good number of good lines when I was terrible at the game. Now I get to experience one of them again if I so choose, and I can actually appreciate it.

Weather/smoke/fire etc will kill the scouts even more after the removed scouting and td spots from the maps. What can you do? The whole maps become useless for scouts accept yolo too death. 😂❤ They tried too make the game more and more arcade. I think its not the right way. 😊

at the end of the day people will cry maps will get changed to adapt to it and we are back to normal
i think all this game needs is big map changes on a regular basis and new maps here and there

As long as weather is better executed than in World of Warships, where it only serves to help bigger ships and screw over DDs.

i like the extra additions like weather effects this changes the way the games will go they should just make it an option to turn off for ppl who do not like it😄
They should do it for free, it sucks to grind weeks for a line and realise the tier 10 is bad af or u dont like the playstile of the tank. If WG does this i would start playing the game again for sure.

I think the graphics of World of Tanks Modern Armor looking pretty fun. Textures detail is lower, but the overall effects are better balanced.
I hope an option to disable weather will be available just like random events, enough gimmicks is enough

I don't think random events on most maps actually improve the gameplay so it makes them useless if not harmful. Doubt weather will be any different. That's exactly why an option to disable would be nice it'll allow every player to choose by personal preference
the weathe should be random an on random spots of the map.
Not prefixed things that will happen.
Than it would be a change worth looking into.
But scripted events on fix positions will be used/abused like every other changing feature on maps nowadays.

AS EXAMPLE: they will make some kind of "shit" line, let's say like Type 5 Heavy is currently, you will change it for K-91 line, after few months they will nerf K-91 as it's statistically stronger, and you will change it for a different line that is currently in "meta", over and over again, of course only for people who don't play that much and don't have many tier X's.

I would definitely use the trade-in if it's not expensive. I would trade in easy to grind tree for a hard to grind. But I can't see any really good candidate for myself (what to trade in and what to get).
I can see people exploit it to grind a fun line, trade it in for a less fun one. And do it all over again.
They spend so much time developing useless feature, trade-in tech tree.. They should work on more important things.
Only have 2 tech tree lines not unlocked (2 newest lines), so the trade-in is no use for me, but does sound interesting. Although I do prefer when folk know how to play specific tech tree tanks, rather than jumping into a tier X tank without knowing how to play that type of tank. Although, as someone who wants to have all tanks unlocked, and not really being a light tank player, it might help me unlock that line, and then replay a line I enjoyed.

can you repat the trade? then grind a tank line that you enjoy then use it to open a line that is total shit. and reapeat getting all tanks and only drive the same fun tanks
Don't play the game anymore after putting thousands of games to get a great crew in my favourite tanks then boom my high skill crews all nerfed down to 6 skills so later on they can promote wot plus with free 7th skill or something similar....they don't have bots running in recon mode but they do in random battles so hence the queue time difference
The only way the trade in would be worth gold is if the traded in tanks and tech tree remained researched. This would make it a trade of money for saved time.

Really don't care cause I sell my tanks whenever I am getting the higher tank in that tech tree. That's how I play free to play. I only keep Tier X tanks.

or lets say I have the T110E5 that I loved the line grind, but I dont like lets say BC-25T line, so u can sacrifice the E5 line for a BC-25T, and then grind the E5 all over again

People will primarily use this feature to swap to brand new tech line releases.
Instead of burning 1.5 million free XP they take a line they like and swap it for a new tech tree, then re-grind the favored line to await the next new tech tree release.

@@gonozal8_962 wot plus doesnt have anything that a player must have. if they do add this trade feature in wot plus, youll be paying for a convenience. its no different than paying for a premium tank to progress faster. nobody is forcing you to pay
All I fucking want is new maps. I didn’t want the dynamic map stupidity. I didn’t want the revised perk system. They had some good maps in recon, but then pulled them back. I don’t want this idiotic trade-in silliness. All I want is one thing: new maps.
yeah since the new perk system my active time played on a weekly basis has dropped by about 70%

If you want to play tanks on new maps. I suggest you go try WoT Modern Armor. They have some new maps that aren't on PC. On Xbox you can play WoT Modern Armor with keyboard and mouse. That's how I play it.

Totally agree new maps, bigger maps that allow a couple of fall back positions behind each other, when you see a Zerg rush coming. Maps with cover that allow TD's to do their thing. Maps that arent centred around this mad rush to be "World of Medium Tanks" where mobility is the be all and end all. There needs to be a higher risk in the Zerg rush. Maps where semi static play is 'the thing" for those maps. Theres something like 44 maps with a map size built around a 5 minute game time and P6 PC. Weve got high quality graphics give us more high quality maps, how about putting more maps in circulation, random map loading these days seems to mean the same map 3 times in 10 games. Aaaaaaaargh.
BTW I have nearly all the tech tree tanks, I think I need 10 (the crappy ones so I wont get them anyway}, so a swap option has no interest in me whatsoever. What they should do is make the tanks that are crap have some fun element about them that makes them playable (I'm looking at you mid tier British TD's) instead of introducing these money grab tanks.
I don't want the weather effects to affect my view range and ground resistances. The only thing I want is to play ONE Map on a sunny day, during a thunder storm and in winter. I want Map variety, not one more thing I and new players have to adapt to. Most players don't even understand the current view- and concealment mechanics. How on earth is WG expecting THIS to go another way?
Just give me more stuff like Winter Himmelsdorf, Fiery Salient, Ruinberg on Fire or Winterberg. JUST FOR ONCE let something just be an visual effect and not a new mechanic we have to learn.
I mean World of Warships has cyclones/storms randomly occur on some maps which affects concealment range + spotting range. I can't recall the last time I saw or heard a complaints about those so . . .

Well, the current view/concealment mechanics are pretty dumb when you think about it. ONLY in WoT can tanks go invisible right in an open field just because some stats crossed a given threshold.
@@matthewkabanuk443 Warships has maps/seas large enough for weather to only effect part of the map, except when the map already has some condition as part of it's individual specific feature, not as another layer of randomly happenings upon a range of maps/seas that will likely not occur as randomly as intended for, to feel purposefully against each player.
WoT random battles is potentially complex enough with 41 or more maps to learn, let alone additional Assault versions and Onslaught versions of them (163+ variations) to learn ..and then random weather as well..
I'd rather they added another additional equipment & a consumable slots to tier 1's, 2's and 3's,
than for what few if any players never asked for or wanted, this weather effects BS
@@skorpion7132scaling is wrong in pretty much every game, because 2km or higher cannon ranges would require maps to be a few times bigger than FL maps, which creates issues with RAM and computer specs to render, SSD space to store and time to create these maps. games like WARNO with repsfrago or steel division have realistic ranges if you remove the scaling thing that displays football fields as being 400m across. but even without, anti air at spawn can destroy an aircraft spawning at the opposite side of the map already. so imagine distances were 4x as large. apart from fog, there is stuff like eg early night vision optics only having a detection range of 800m, which would be 200m scaled down to WG sizes (wowp has airplanes shooting 700m+ actually, though, yet flight altitudes still don’t exceed 6.5 or so km). armored recon irl does exist because tanks can fire further than they can spot (across an open field though, not through obstacles). keep in mind also that this portrays stuff like scratches, dust and other imperfections ruining the quality of the optics, which makes it more difficult to see than 3rd person does. you also can’t see something that doesn’t have LOS with viewports in wot, yet eg War thunder just makes optics irrelevant: you can hit every shot even if all optics are just piles of glass shards at that point. so if you imagine 400m spotting range was 2.2km distance irl and view ports also have a smaller field of view, so you either focus on one area or skim 360° in which case you miss concealed vehicles, which is how the spotting circle (instead of: cone) works in wot). the 10s spotting time is so that concealment can change when firing, but a tank that has fired remains spotted. for gameplay consistency and tge like, this also results in plays utilizing that mechanic in an unrealistic way, but it’s still better than wo spotted time
Finally! The Patton line will be at least useful for something :)

I hate being negative, but i think everything here is a terrible idea. The trade in event just further promotes ppl have no idea how to play their tanks, and it takes away from the prestiege of putting in the time to grind. The weather is a nice idea, but everyone and their mom will just disable it like random event (which should not be optional imo). So all in all its a lot of dev work for nothing.
lol. I wonder how long it take for some to come up with mod to remove weather or tone it down, which would be like cheating. If forest in on fire, even if it does not effect spotting range, but the effect likely will effect player own eyes...Whole thing is a bad idea, and another tool for cheater to abuse....

What they need to do is make radio stuff matter more. Its been in the game forever and exists just to make you grind
yeah no i dont think that radio range mechanic can lead to usefull gameplay in this game
what they could try is to implement skills that let you tap into enemy radio and get some of the enemy positions this way but how would they do this? maybe if you get close enough to a spotted enemy in a light tank you could somehow tap into his radio if you stay unspotted

I tried 3 days to test weather maps. No luck.
This used to be a fun game. Tired of all the gimmicks, constant changes, and premium tank spam.

Tech tree swap is useless, who grinds a line to X that he doesn't like? Weather effects should be cool, especially if ground resistance increases in rain and you'd get stuck in a swampy area close to lakes and rivers.

This is why I play war Thunder more now than I play WoT. On War Thunder the lowest pop I've seen on the NA server is 88k. I come on WoT and see 8-12 k during primetime on the NA server. One would think WG would be more interested in what the players are wanting. WG is ALWAYS making changes not asked for, and then NEVER listening to the mass player base on changes they want, like restructured MM, doing something about hacks etc. There are already too many mechanics in WoT IMHO.
This is going to reduce variety of tanks in the MM. Everyone will move from nerfed / bad tanks to the hot and popular tanks. But what matters to WG is that they will make MONEY from this.
Second time this year that after a big patch my lag is so bad that game is unplayable, before it cleared after little patch. Hasn't happened yet this time and after two weeks of terrible game play.....uuugh
i real do not care about the map effects there just going to mess with every one pc or lap top and it will be a more buggy game then it has been they.. really need to stop add content ever month an start work on some of their over done trash maps and bugs and glitch there over doing it on all these events
One thing I'm paranoid about with this weather stuff is making it a lot harder on peoples PCs. I know plenty of people that play this game on potato PCs.
It has some levels to choose. I was going to test the impact on performance, but not yet able to get in to maps, no players.
Depends, if it's fog effect. It could actually improve FPS since the fog will be obscuring so much detail they simply don't have to be rendered on screen.

This tech tree trade in is a sign they are going to either stop updating or they going to shutdown wot . This trade in feature is crazy imo they letting people play the lines before the game is gone just imo . Think about it this feature will have players finishing the tech tree grind 10 x faster leading to more stagnation in the game .
Once off deal with a 1:1 trade where you need all tanks of a line up to tier X....that resets your crew and doesn't give a skilled crew in return...frankly I can can grind a(?) line(s) long before I can get a crew to where I want it
The rumour a few months back was that WoT would be going into maintenance mode sometime in 2025, IIRC.

Tech tier swap is only helpful if you have kept all the proceeding vehicles as you move up the tree. I don't think many casual players keep the tree full as they move up as they need the credits to purchase the next tier.

I just hope it will be a one time only. What will happen when WG buff a new tank? 90% of the player base will trade-in a tech tree for this tank and spam the MM with it?

@@iybizuku1366 Not really? WT auf Pz. IV is just better in pretty much everything, turret turns fully, better dpm, camo is ALOT better, more flexible only things which it loses is accuracy by 0.06 and it just seems Grille doesnt hit shots which it should hit easily

I would maybe exchange my Panzer 7 line for a Shitbarn line, as me researching the Panzer 7 was just a byproduct of me researching the Maus line. And compared to the Maus line, it absolutely sux.
The only problem is that my Panzer 7 crew is nothing to write home about. But I´ll probably retrain my GSOR 1008 crew, plus add the loaders. And the others will be simply sent to other British tanks.
So, IMHO, it´s not such a bad addition.
Honestly, as a quite vocal critic of Wargaming since at least 2018, I´d say that the last few updates were not that bad.
Rain lower the chances of fire meanwhile you can get set on fire while submerged in water... WG Logic....

For goodness sake Wargaming, stop messing around with the game. Just keep it simple, bring back the old maps and introduce new designs. Mission Marathons instead of silly modes and loot crates. They're just ruining their own game.
I'd love to be able to do this to dump branches that I realized suck before I've reached tier 10. I get to tier 9 and realize they blow chunks and would rather shift to a more competitive line.
Since I'm flat swapping there should be zero fee associated whatsoever - because the CREWS don't transfer over and those have to be re-trained from scratch. They'll at least be converted to recruits, though I would hope all of their XP would be retained.
But, honestly, the primary use this function will see is people swapping to brand new tech tree lines before they get nerfed so they'll get to bully people grinding the slog way.

Letting players swap techtree so they can access tier 10 faster on multiple branches.
Making a faster way to reach the end of the game is what starts the dawfall...
Without needing to grind other branches and being able to select the one you want is an absolute middle finger to all the older players who spend months grinding for their T10.
Confused how it's faster when it's a tier for tier trade...to get a tier X trade, you needed a tier X...I mean yes it's game breaking to be able to swap from a recently nerfed line to something you'd actually want to play at a 1:1 tier for tier that even forces you to train a new crew...
It's still force you to do grind because lose the fully research one, downfall for it just unbalanced match every update.

@@Faelen_furry Did you understand that you can only use the trade in only once? So what's the point of trade in if you want to keep your old line? This only a trade-in though it will make popular tanks more popular and viceversa for more rare tanks. It won't make reaching tier 10 any faster.
As a casual player, I feel like there is very few places for optimal Hull down gameplay (I like my 60tp). I know, I know, I'm trash, but I try. I feel for anyone who gets stuck with me as I try to play the tank the way it *looks* it should be played, but rarely do I ever get maps that feature environments that has that old heavy v heavy brawls. Pretty sure I get noob accusations based entirely alone on my movement, But Sometimes I do play the tank right and get some insane games because my mistake resulted in me being in the right place at the right time. I would really like to see a entire new set of maps because at least then I'm not the only one struggling to know if my route is what I *should* do
Weather seems pretty cool... depending on implementation.
They should factor the smoke from a dead vehicle as potential camo, likewise fog/rain/smoke from fires. Also, a tank that gets destroyed - particularly by burning or ammo detonation - should potentially cause local forest fires, potentially ones that spread. Fires should also cause efficiency loss of crews sitting in it and vehicles with damaged fuel tanks could actually catch fire.
I would use it in a different way, for example: if I'm a good player with a light tank and I'm very good with a certain tree, I'd change for example a heavy tank tree that I don't want to play or it's bad, and then I'd play my favorite tank tree again
Would've loved this feature 8 years ago.... too bad WG taking things in the right direction but almost a decade after it should've been implemented
I am one of those players who will benefits from the trade in. I no longer really play the random battles. By the time I log in, the clan is into Advances and Skirmishes already. So I go right into competitive play, about every night. We do play pubs at the end of the night, but we are usually already burned out. We play random battles mostly to try to recover money we lost, if we didn't do so well in comp play.
Removing equipment shouldn't cost anything. It's bullshit that I can't unmount stuff without gold or using a voucher... it should be free or a timer, like make me wait 2 hours or something and if I wanna pay to speed it up I can

I think the tech tree trade-in feature will be a great feature for players who join their first clan. When they find out what kinds of tanks the clan wants for battles they could trade in some of the early lines of tanks they ground out that do not get used in competitive play and it would be a win for both player and clan.

I want a way to convert my 10 million free experience without using gold. I should be able to click a button (like extra crew training) and not earn any experience for the tank, but instead it pulls it out of my free experience and converts it into usable free experience
This trade-in BS is BS. What happens to your multi perk trained crews, no one has tier 10 tanks with untrained crews? Are you starting over in the new tech tree or does it transfer over? Just take a survey of the top 5 maps players don't want then give us new maps and stop all the BS.

Do you need to have all the tanks from tier 6 to 10 in your garage to be able to swap them? Pretty useless feature for me then, because I usually only have 2 or 3 tanks per line which I keep.
If the trade in is cheap swapping from tier 10 to tier 10 only you could use the function to trade in a tank currently on top of the tree to one that won't be like arty then free xp/blueprint the top of the tree tank again effectively buying the other one for a discount. Really depends on the price tho
Also you can skip really bad grinds E5 isn’t a bad grind pretty fun with great tanks. But the arty grind is 🤮 so you can skip that and get the 10 you want
Trading the Grille for FV005 then I'll grind the Grille line again as it is fun.
But as you say, that depends on if the cost is worth it.

I would be cool if the first five minutes had forest fires, then it started to rain...Then with 5 minutes left, the fires are out and most of the forest is gone so there aren't as many places to hide.

Personally I won't use this trade it. I enjoy researching tech tree lines. The ones that are bad, I simply dont do. lol
