I've always kinda believed that Girl Meets World was about Maya life through her best friends perspective. I mean, Maya is the the one with daddy issues, Shawn marries her mom, they focus on her struggles a lot. For Riley, they more focus on how innocent and bubbly she was compared to Maya.

I feel like Riley always gets in the way, because while Maya was talking about how she’s upset about her broken family, Riley complained that her family was ‘too perfect’ and that she couldn’t live up to her parents. I understand that it must be hard but Riley could be more supportive. Also, she wouldn’t feel bad about liking Lucas. It’s like Maya is just taking her turn until she needs to step aside for Riley
Kaitlyn Ryan exactly like at least Riley has a family to live up to. At least Riley had a great family who loved her and was there for her. Maya wanted that more than anything, sure she had her mom and she was there sometimes, but she wanted her family to be complete. With a father who was there and a mother who was happy and maybe a sibling so Maya wouldn’t feel so alone. I just don’t understand why Maya didn’t get angry with Riley when she said things like that.

The fact that Payton Meyers had a fantastic friendship behind the scenes of Girls Meets World, and it showed on screen enough that their chemistry was amazing. The writers surely lost the chance to put Maya and Lucas together.
No, she was alwyas happy for maya but she also wanted to be happy for herself. and she wasn't. being happy for a person can be shown in multiple ways it doesn't have to be in the way of the other. maya showed her happiness for riley differently. yes riley got jealous but who wouldn't but she still never ended her friendship or even allowed lucas to tear her and maya's friendship apart. she wasn't selfish and she was always happy fo rmaya and there for maya.
Honestly I am forever mad at the writers for making Maya think she doesn’t want (or deserve) a nice guy. Just like when she started to do well in school and they acted like she was turning into Riley. Tbh she’d be a better Riley than Riley.

Maya has been teasing him for years, on his personality and his hometown, yet he just laughs or smiles. Except for girl meets Texas which was the best ep ever. When Riley and maya walked in, he complimeted Maya first. He says Riley is pretty, but Maya is beautiful. He thinks of Riley as pretty, so he thinks of that when he talks about her to people. When he talks about Maya he thinks of her on the inside and outside as beautiful so when this me has a stronger connection to her, that's deeper than Riley's connectionwith him. "If you love someone let them go...but if they really love you they'll come back," Lucas wasn't sure about Riley. Nor was he sure about Maya. He was conflicted. He knew he felt something and yet the moment when Maya told him "If you care about me then you'll go find Riley and tell her you love her" Lucas did. Maya put aside her feelings for the guy that was amazing just so she could please her best friend. But immediately after that they still talked to each other with the same love and respect. I can't see Lucas with Riley but I also can't see him with Maya completely. I have mixed feelings about it. Thye both have strong characters and have had immense character development throughout the show. Maya went through her rebellion phase and had to take her time in order to find her identity. Riley had her phases but when Maya did it didn't seem like Riley was really there for her. Maya and Lucas have opposite personalities but insane chemistry. There was so much tension between the two of them that when the almost kiss happened I was cheering and hoping that it happened. I'm upset that they didn't end the show with the two of them in the cafe just sitting in comfortable silence. But Maya did the thing that was most difficult in a relationship. She put her best friend's feelings for the person she loves/liked before herself. That's a difficult thing to do. That shows you how selfless she is.
even though its been five years this is the one couple i'll never forget. i'll always hate disney for how this ended. yes, riley and lucas were like the same person and were alike, but thats exactly it. they were too alike but lucas made maya better, maya acted a different way with lucas and there was always was more connected between them.

they honestly had so much chemistry, a huge slowburn (my favourite type of ship lmao) and he honestly cared so deeply for her and vice versa. he called her beautiful while riley was pretty, and honestly i felt that what he said for maya was more deep. i hate that the writers didn’t let it happen. riley got in the way, and should’ve supported maya and lucas. maya has been through a lot tbh and has had it hard, get getting the guy would’ve been something the show could’ve done great on
THIS IS AMAZING OMG. I always felt that deep down when Maya told Lucas to go tell Riley that he loves her, I truly feel that she stepped back once more and kept hiding her feelings towards Lucas during the rest of season 3.
She wouldn’t be the Maya we know and love if she chose Lucas over Riley. Because that’s what it was all about: if she tried to make it with Lucas then it would destroy Riley. Riley is a weak character, she wouldn’t handle it, and Maya as a strong one could. This is particularly why I like Maya way more than Riley, she is altruistic and caring, kind and strong person. P.S. it is a Disney show for middle schoolers but here I am analyzing this difficult situation ready to graduate!

Kaitlyn Ryan exactly like at least Riley has a family to live up to. At least Riley had a great family who loved her and was there for her. Maya wanted that more than anything, sure she had her mom and she was there sometimes, but she wanted her family to be complete. Hi My name is Alexis Parvin I strongly but respectfully disagree like lets face it what riley and lucas had in the beginning might have been a lie but around the middle you could see the difference in the way he looked at riley and the way he looked at maya when he looked at riley it was not forced and too even anything out but he had to make up some back handed compliment for maya and yeah when riley got jealous he had smelled her hair and when he found out that riley still loved him who did he look at sitting on the bench on the roof :riley" he did not even bother to look at maya or to see how she was doing and maya clearly said in the ski lodge she does not want a nice guy whoa like she has been and always will be hung up on josh and josh finally realizes that he likes maya and says they might at some point have future and they are both playing the long game . So to say that everything about riley and lucas relationship was lie was quite an overreach like i said I the beginning a little bit cause like yeah technically he met maya first so like he would think about her the second he sees her but like the way he was with riley was different and in the beginning was not really looking for a relationship he was just trying to settle into a new thing so even in the beginning of the show if he would have started a relationship with maya it would have been a lie in the beginning there too cause he still was not comfortable e in a completely different place.

Maya has been teasing him for years, on his personality and his hometown, yet he just laughs or smiles. Except for girl meets Texas which was the best ep ever. When Riley and maya walked in, he complimeted Maya first. He says Riley is pretty, but Maya is beautiful. He thinks of Riley as pretty, so he thinks of that when he talks about her to people. When he talks about Maya he thinks of her on the inside and outside as beautiful so when this me has a stronger connection to her, that's deeper than Riley's connectionwith him. One of the part that really gets me is one she says “he’s never going out with me” and all feels like she’s saying it to herself not Riley
"If you love someone let them go...but if they really love you they'll come back," Lucas wasn't sure about Riley. Nor was he sure about Maya. He was conflicted. He knew he felt something and yet the moment when Maya told him "If you care about me then you'll go find Riley and tell her you love her" Lucas did. Maya put aside her feelings for the guy that was amazing just so she could please her best friend. But immediately after that they still talked to each other with the same love and respect. I can't see Lucas with Riley but I also can't see him with Maya completely. I have mixed feelings about it. Thye both have strong characters and have had immense character development throughout the show. Maya went through her rebellion phase and had to take her time in order to find her identity. Riley had her phases but when Maya did it didn't seem like Riley was really there for her. Maya and Lucas have opposite personalities but insane chemistry. There was so much tension between the two of them that when the almost kiss happened I was cheering and hoping that it happened. I'm upset that they didn't end the show with the two of them in the cafe just sitting in comfortable silence.
But Maya did the thing that was most difficult in a relationship. She put her best friend's feelings for the person she loves/liked before herself. That's a difficult thing to do. That shows you how selfless she is.

Maya thought about Riley’s feelings more than she thought about her own feelings.
She wouldn’t be the Maya we know and love if she chose Lucas over Riley. Because that’s what it was all about: if she tried to make it with Lucas then it would destroy Riley. Riley is a weak character, she wouldn’t handle it, and Maya as a strong one could. This is particularly why I like Maya way more than Riley, she is altruistic and caring, kind and strong person.
P.S. it is a Disney show for middle schoolers but here I am analyzing this difficult situation ready to graduate!
