Good to have proper equipment. That bucket and grapple look like they do a nice job.
Morning Heath , the FB market place find was great . I really like the binders and how the sides come off the grapple . Have a good weekend . 👍🏻🪵🔥
For sure! Thanks Del.
Heath, I’m not totally sure but #1, I think you have to have 4 points of contacts with 4 binders, #2 you should down your backhoe bucket to your trailer & throw a strap over that, & #3, it might help you when you grab your chains if you hook the grab hook close to your D ring on each end of the chain, that way it would leave your chain wide open to hook your binder. Just my observation from my days of moving equipment. You can never over secure a piece of equipment. Good video, TY for sharing. Dave from Maine.🇺🇸👍
Even if the backhoe has an anti swing pin, it's required to be tied down also.
Heath it looks like you have two sets of hands 🙌 now that you have the Easton made grapple 😮😊❤
For sure, it’s so nice!
Looks great heath. Fun fact of the day; the tines are 8" on center. Every second tine is 16"..... just in case you haven't got your stick handy
Awesome, I think you guys thought about everything on this! It’s by far the best grapple I’ve ever used and it’s not even close!
Man that is a sweet grapple how much does such a thing cost
That would look nice on are channel 😂
@AmericanCountry716 the 60” is $4,200
@
That seems like a fair price
Looks like that grapple is a good choice. Stay safe.
Thanks! Love it.
Thanks Heath.
In Wisconsin You would be a few Chains short. I set the Back hoe down on the Trailer & chain it down Now it's weight is not is not on the latch parts and swivel lock pin.. and any Attachment on the loader needs it's own tie down.
I just drop My chains down inside the Rub rail and bring them back up, No need for the extra parts..
Mike M.
Nice Heath. You are making some nice equipment choices. Well done.
Thanks Kenny, definitely re investing in the business!
Definitely a game changer that grapple.
I like that 260 as well! Nice saw to pack around.
The grapple is absolutely awesome! The 260 is my grunt saw. Picked it up for $125 on marketplace.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Score!
My brother in law has the biggest gooseneck dump trailer ive ever seen. He owns a landscaping business and hauls all his equipment with it, then he hauls all the dirt and rock with the same trailer. It would be the ultimate trailer for getting firewood its big enough to load the tractor, go out and get wood, load the wood in the front of the trailer, then put the tractor on back of the load! He had 2 trailers and went dien to one big monster. I just have a suretrac 5 x 8 dump trailer which is sweet for tight areas, and moving wood around my yard. Your trailer is awesome with no rusting!
Yeah that’s what I’m hoping to do with the new dump trailer. Haul the tractor then use the tractor to load the dump trailer since I’ll be able to dump it where I go instead of need the tractor to unload at the destination.
That grapple is just like every other product Andrew sells. I might have to put some serious thought into one. Wild territory getting into how you’re “supposed to” bind down your tractor. I use 4 ratchet binders and nothing over implements. And I’ve seen guys just toss a ratchet strap over their brush hog and set the e-brake haha. Do what you feel is safe and pray D.O.T. doesn’t pinch you. I get a little more nervous crossing into N.Y. but I’m only there for 5-6 miles before the Welcome to Vermont sign appears and I can breathe again haha.
lol, the grapple is sweet and I’m finding out even though this is the best I’ve tied my tractor down I’m still wrong lol. I’ve seen the same one or two cheap ratchet straps and the brake set.
I like those binders. Those look like a nice rig for sure. Always good to get a mess cleaned up to especially when it will heat the house.
For sure! A bit warmer here than over by you but this mess has to go!
Nice chains and binders. I’ll have to check them out. Man!!!! That grapple is sweet!!! Wonder how it would look on a green tractor 😎. Good stuff.
They are sweet! Not sure how it’d look on green lol.
Nice setup Heath. You may want to do a courtesy call to your local scale house. I believe the chain has to be grade 70 rated, gold in color. Brad may be able to comment on this.
Nice chain and binder find 😍 That Eastonmade grapple is awesome 👍
I really like them rigs you have to go in the stake pockets . I keep meaning to order some but havant done it yet .
Heath, The chemistry of the steel composition does definitely make a difference.
Yes it does! I never realized home important quality steel was before.
hi there you know me always away from the normal . i think you get a lot more pull with the screw binder ,what do you think , and a thought to maybe try ,if the were small loops at each end the chain would be loos in the middle then hook the binder in the most convenient spot on the run then the chain would not be hitting the binder , if you follow that try it and let me know what you think ., great show john
Thanks John. I definitely need to hook it like that so the loose chain isn’t hitting the binder. These say you get 1,500# of tension for every 100# worth of pull on the lever.
Normal is one of the words that is almost impossible to define. Lol😅
I guess I live under a rock!! I didn't know they had stuff like that for trailers!! I always use a chain and a boomer to tie stuff down!! Glad you showed that new stuff!!
With those awesome tools, "smart working man" would fit as well!
Thanks, they sure make it easier!
That grapple bucket is really nice! Don’t expect anything less from EM products U should stop at harbor freight! They got 1.5” sockets for cheap! Btw when are you going to get a little 3500 dump truck! Those are a game changer!
I would take the tractor out of gear when it is loaded, to avoid damaging the gears.
I would put the chain through the d-ring and then attach the binder to the end of the chain to double the strength of the binder..
Thanks, my buddy recommended that way too.
Them ratchet chain binders are the cats meow right there!
So far I like them a lot.
Heath a great video I love the grapple. I have one too, not quite like that but it sure is going to be handy for me and you know buying that Chevy truck even though I’m a Dodge man lol. Why would you buy a new truck to do a job like that when you got a perfectly good truck for loading firewood, etc. if it gets a scratch or two it just your character like the truck lol also, those chains and chain binds are excellent. I will look and see if we have them in Canada from across the pond. Have a great weekend
I LOVE thata Grapple ! ! Thanks for the Video! Mine will be here soon !
Nice video lots of info love the grapple😊
Hello from your Piqua Ohio fan club
Love the bucket but that backhoe needs to go, it would be nice with some kind of weight box on the rear which would make it so much easier to get around and more compact.
Maybe try turning the binder around where they close towards the trailer. May give more room for ratcheting and closing the binder. Nice equipment though. Enjoy.
You say Silverayedo, we say Silveradoe, You say Potato, we say Potato. LOL Good highway safety measures Heath!
lol I say it like that on purpose. It’s from a funny clip I watched before. Can’t remember what it was though.
I bet that birch that looks nasty will burn awesome! I had a big nasty super old bile of rounds on my property when i bought it and i went to clean it up, cut it, split it all, some of it suoer heavy wet from settling into the dirt, and i tell you what, this nasty wood is burning awesome! I hought i was just gonna use it for bonfires!
I hadno idea Andrew fabs grapples! Pretty sweet unbolt the side plates! Looks light to haul more weight! You ever try the 2 in 1 stihl sharpener? I got a sweet italian professional chainsaw sharpener my dad got from an auction from a small engine repair shop where the fella passed away, then i inherited it, it works AWESOME but the past year ive been hand sharpening with the 2 in 1.
Yeah some of it’s in the boiler now. Yeah he just started with the grapples and it’s sweet! I haven’t tried the 2/1 yet.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors To be honest, I've never been successful "hand filing" a chainsaw chain. But that 2 in 1 was so easy even i figured it out! I ended up buying 3 different sizes because I run the 500i stihl, O64av stihl, and them two use the bigger 2 in 1, my ms250 uses the middle size, and my ms180 uses that 3/8 picco chain which uses the smallest 2 in 1. I like it because it automatically files the rakers at same time! I gotta go back in your videos to see how you do it
I'm still learning my wood by bark skills ! What was the bigger logs you were cutting? Birch and something else?
Yes it was white birch. You want to get it cut and split rather quickly. Don’t let it sit like I did!
@hardworkingmanoutdoors I just picked up a load of that myself. There's a decent amount of it here in Michigan.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors being a new viewer I didn't realize until I just watched your video from last week that you are a fellow Michigan outdoorsman to so you know there are plenty of Birch in certain areas!
Heath the next time you do this bring with the side plates reinstall them after your done cutting, then load
yeah. "with a skeleton bucket you'd lose your wood"
proceeds to lose half the scoop every time he shakes it.
Heath, by any chance do you whcih stations in Sandusky and/or Caro that sells off road diesel?
Thumb Trailer and Auto sales in Sandusky sells it and they’re great guys!
hi there i had a to long comment walked away came back and it was gone , john
It’s still there! I just replied to it.
As easy as those side plates come off that grapple I think I would reinstall them after the logs were moved. Your firewood rounds loading would have been even more efficient. Nice toys errr equipment!
Do you have any connections with the DOT commercial division
There may be some rules you may need to be aware of
I’m not positive about this it may save you a little trouble 😊😊😊😊😊
Your backhoe and front loader are required by law to be secured also
Re old chains vs. new chains: the people in ancient Israel always put new wine into new wineskins. If they put new into old, the old wineskins would burst. Wisdom from the Lord in the New Testament. 😊
Thanks!
I believe to be legal all 4 corners of the tractor must be chained and have 4 binders one at each corner and the loader must be chained down. Looping one chain through with one binder isn’t legal.
Are you trying to disguise your wood boiler operations as a firewood business, just like Back 40 Firewood?
Ya got me. That’s why I’ve ordered 80 cord of logs on top of what I source myself. Boiler is real hungry. Now, if you’re asking if Firewood is my full-time business, the answer would be no. It is a side hustle, but I’m building it into a full-time business for when I retire.
I got banned from Facebook for 6 months
