    I have a similar model LG but it's a dual burner (I think they call it that) where the top is gas and the oven is electric. But the stove top is identical to mine. I was about to call a gas guy to do the conversion to LP, but after watching your video I did it myself. I really appreciate the simple and to-the-point explanation with no UUUUHHMMs, AAAAHHHHHs and too much introduction. Just get to it and hands-on.... DONE! Thank you for your video!!!

    Rusty has made the best video on TH-cam. He is knowledgeable, articulate, concise and very well spoken. He gets right to it, shows you how it is done and completes the process without talking it to death like so many others do. Thank you Rusty, you enlightened me and made it look easy. You are my favorite TH-cam instructor. Ron Lines

    Great video - I was able to follow this to convert my own range when Home Depot refused to do the conversion. One hint - a standard socket is so deep that when you try to replace the burner orifices, they sink into the socket and will not engage the threads. I took the first orifice I removed and reversed it into the socket all the way - then the replacement will only go in far enough to keep the threads out far enough to engage the burner socket. When done, you can remove that old orifice and save it with the others in case you need to convert back to NG at a later date.

    Thank you for this video! It was very helpful as I just got the LG instaview oven and had to convert to propane. The instructions (for me) weren’t that great as far as the oven goes.... they say to adjust the shutter (for the broiler) but I’m really confused because it looks open (to me) the opening is facing the front of the stove. Is that right? Thank you again for the awesome tutorial. God bless!

    • @RobertsonsBellyAcres
      @RobertsonsBellyAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is something I don’t know about. Ours didn’t have that in the instructions. Sorry! Best of luck to you and thank you for watching!

    • @ekalbkr
      @ekalbkr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Converting to LP typically requires a shutter adjustment, and is called for in the instructions for my new LG stove, which I will receive in a few days. In theory, the shutter adjustment is made to get the flame where there are short, yellow tips on the flame (NOT long smokey ones!).
      Based on the top burner construction, there are no shutters to adjust - the "choke" serves the same purpose on the big power burner.
      That leaves the oven burners, which, if they have shutters, may need adjustment. When I install my unit, I will try to report back.
      BTW, with the exception of the shutter question, you have made a first class video! Your skill - especially your soft touch on the wrenches - knowledge and safe practices makes this a winner.

    • @RobertsonsBellyAcres
      @RobertsonsBellyAcres  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your comments! In the instructions of this particular model it did not mention the need for shutter adjustment in the oven. Good luck with your new appliance! Thank you for watching!

    I have a question what happens if the ring you put on the front right burner isnt tight enough

  • @tdb0ne1
    @tdb0ne1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    what about the shutter adjustments and if you have a pair of calipers could you measure the I.D. of a couple of the orifices? so we can compare the lp to the nat gas hole size so we can tell if our oven has the lp installed already or if the natural gas orifices are installed. i bought my lg lssg3017st used and its not working right. the ovens center bake burner and also the broiler seem to have a real low gas flame. i can see it trickle and almost go out. i bought a pressure regulator and even the safety valve it attaches too (which did nothing as stove operates the same before i changed those items)
    i dont get any error codes and the top part of the stove appears to be working.
    does something adjust how much gas comes into the oven burner of is it just like an open and close thing? i mean why is my oven working but it dont seem to be getting enough gas.
    ill share a video i made with the covers off the main bake burner
    th-cam.com/video/G8CltYX8U6c/w-d-xo.html
    to me it looks like the oven is having a hard time staying lit almost like there isnt enough pressure but i just changed the pressure regulator.
    do you think my homes natural gas has the correct pressure?
    im confused and any help you might be able to add would be great!
    thanks and great video. would be nice to see you adjust shutters in another video maybe...

    • @RobertsonsBellyAcres
      @RobertsonsBellyAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I am out of state right now. The only thing I can think of is pull the orifice out of the oven and see if it has a letter or number stamped on it. I'd it does compare that to the video.
      Does your regulator have the choke tube in the inlet side? If you are wanting natural gas then the choke should be removed.
      When removing the orifice from the oven be careful not to touch the ignitor with your bare hands as the natural oils on your skin can cause premature failure.
      Hope this helps! Good luck!

    He may catch my point below when the Range is actually fired up, but if you have got yours this far please read my comment.
    Fairly good video, but as with most, one very important detail was missed. The minimum flame for the burners was missed. When the burner is turned to low, it will actually only go to medium as it is still set for Natural gas. To finish the job, at each burner, turn it to low, then pull each burner knob off the shaft. There is a very small screw inside the shaft, slowly turn it in till a small minimum flame is reached, the flame is still consistent all the way around. To check it, turn the flame to high, quickly turn it to low and the flame will quickly drop in size but not go out. If it does then increase the minimum flame size slightly. Do the rest of the burners and you will have a full range of flame size, instead of just high to medium. If the stove is near open windows or excessive draft from a range hood, the minimum flame may also need to be increased slightly. If your range has a dual burner, the second screw will be near the first. Read the instruction book in this instance.
    Enjoy the nice small simmer setting when done.

    • @tbill8067

      @Richard Graham. do you have to adjust airflow to oven?

    • @richardgraham8568
      @richardgraham8568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tbill8067 typically on Propane you open the air shutter all the way open. If the base of the flame starts to lift away from the burner you can slowly close the air shutter till the flame sits at the burner, at that point the flame should still be blue with maybe a slight yellow tip at the end, it is a balance to minimize the yellow tip and keep the flame from lifting. If you can’t balance it and you have the adjustable orifice instead of the fixed orifice you may not have screwed it down all the way, but do not over tighten it, you should be able to feel where it bottoms out, better to open it up a quarter to half turn and then tighten it back down till you feel it get snug. That way you can also see the effect on the flame at the same time.

    A note when converting the oven and broiler when the burner tubes are out of the way. make a point not to touch the hot surface ignitor element with your fingers or hands. The oils off of your hands, or any oils for that matter, will reduce the life of the ignitor.

    This doesn't show how to adjust the flames on oven or broiler or the burners and if not adjusted properly the oven could be colder or hotter than what it's set for and if too hot it could cause burning of food or possible damage to inside oven or build up of gas which could cause major fire... do it right!!!

    Great video and very helpful. A couple of caveats… the burner coils are VERY DEKICATE. When I went to screw the burner back into place after replacing the orifice, I accidentally pushed against the coil (it’s like a porous pumice stone) and it broke. The drilled hole from the factory were slightly off so I hade to put the screw in at an angle and pushed where I shouldn’t have pushed. Now waiting for part:( I couldn’t find a magnetized socket head so kept a flexible magnet tool handy and lifted the orifices out of the small whole. No big deal but glad I had it.

    Great video. I was having an issue with my LG dual fuel stove high btu burner in a new construction home. The builders plumber switched out the orifices; however, didn't install the choke tube. I found it in the bag of parts and put it in, now it's perfect! Thank you, sir!

    • @RobertsonsBellyAcres
      @RobertsonsBellyAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was fortunate that I had the right size socket and they fit snug in it. Otherwise you may need to see if you can get a magnetic socket to hold them in place. I understand nthe fear! Lol Good luck!

      I am not sure on that one. You need to refer to you local propane distributor. They should be able to answer that for you.

    After this converted does the LP tank still need a regulator or can i just connect a straight hose to the range without regulator ?

    • @RobertsonsBellyAcres
      @RobertsonsBellyAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will definitely still need a regulator on the tank. If you bypass this it could blow out the regulator on the stove.

      @@RobertsonsBellyAcres Rusty, i take your name from the comment below. I am currently installing the same model range you did there so this video helped out extensively in my case. However the reason im in this, is due that i couldn't find a gas leak on my previous stove of the same model. There is spark, there is propane, and all of the sudden it stopped turning on, noteven with the help of a lighter. A tech came by and sid it was the gas header by the knobs that has a leak, so i went in there by the headerto snoop the leak out, but couldn't find it. Do you have any advice? I guess i want to repair it and make use of it elsewhere.

    • @RobertsonsBellyAcres
      @RobertsonsBellyAcres  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I would have no idea where to even start looking for the leak. Maybe us some soapy water on all connections? Good luck my friend.
