I like the idea of this format, it's not super chaotic like if it was items and enemies being randomized but it also adds a little more adapting to your situation instead of just going to your old reliable weapon choice. Could be promising for a second season.
I recently started finding these bingo races. I love the format.
I would like to see more where we can see clips of the other racers for their reactions etc.

Seems possible that new meta will have an optimized path for merchant checks, and players will end up using the same OP weapon from the first merchant in the sequence that has it.
I’ve seen randomizer races of Zelda OoT where they’re in different seeds. Only difference is they are talking to each other the whole time. It’s not technically a fair race, but it’s fun to hear the back and forth about two different seeds and how lucky/unlucky they can get. As opposed to being unable to talk about anything really happening as it happens since it spoils it
I like the random weapons format from a viewers perspective. Doesn't really matter if both competitors end up using the same build, just means watching each bingo race will be more likely to be different each time and not just samurai start straight to the same 2-3 sombre weapons
Love that you said "Fia's Champions will never come up" and it comes up.
I think it would be more fun if the starting weapons and shops were non somber random only. Then the spots where you can find sombers are randomized to other sombers, and same with bosses. Then you would have an interesting choice available at the start of the game for a harder to upgrade weapon but it can use grease, versus take whatever an early boss gives and pivot to that for an easy upgrade.

1:31:40 Honestly 12-12 with a NG+ race to Rya would be hilarious if it were a league match. They had a 2-hour hard-out IIRC but the finals were unlimited time. Watching Chris and Gino run the full game through in a Bingo would be a nail biter.
That was the most intense Nobel fight I’ve ever seen.
One of the obvious issues I see with this variant of the format, is the early checks for very limited weapon pools. You have the Heavy Thrusting Sword chest in Limgrave which has only one real miss and the twinblade by the sellia teleporter trap chest with a bit more variety.Bbut more important is the claws from stormveil and the Reaper from Weeping Peninsula whihc both have only 4 options that are in theory very similar to each other. The Weeping Peninsula chest in particular strikes me as worth checking every time because of how strong the Cleanrot Knight Scythe can be. Checking what schythe you get and seeing if youy luck into the Stormhawk Axe in the Icerind chest seems to me to be high priority if there's no good starting weapon option.
Personally, I think the best method of promoting weapon variety through modding would be to offer a small number of (Somber) weapons as Keepsake options, either randomized or curated or a mix of both, could even add a restriction to not upgrade any other somber weapons. Frontloading the random elements I think is much more in keeping with the spirit of the Bingo race.

I think for this to work best is either the weapons need to be randomized more or restrictions need to be placed that limit how many options you have, not in a sense that you just ban weapons straight up but like the first few merchant checks or weapon pick ups are what you have to choose from, because right now it's just normal randomizer starts but less random. That or maybe squares in the bingo related to weapons

nagakiba has a bit less damage than uchi. uchi has more potential to be a one-shot weapon.

If you're not a native english speaker and you learn the word 'sign' (as you might if you're preparing to travel in an english speaking country and need to understand road signs and such) then its not unreasonable to think line could be spelled 'lign'. And even then, 'sine' is also a valid spelling of an english word >
I'm the person who made the original comment in the chat. I'm french and in my language "line" is spelled "ligne" so that seemed normal to me, I was so embarrassed when he pointed it out lol. But I know Aggy always talk shit to his chat so I didn't took it personally and it was a pretty funny moment in retrospect. Thank you for your support though, I definitely cringed at myself for a good amount of time after that haha
