I think what works best about these MCU in reviews is that the whole gang is on screen together. Having all of them on makes it much more entertaining and it feels like I'm hanging with the guys.

The Wolverine is such a cool movie. One of the better executions of a cool premise. It’s so charming, cool, cute, intense, stylish.

Joe Sims lol, idk why thats so funny. Like the worst bodyguards on earth who were told to dress lowkey not in suits. And they think anyone not in a suit dresses like that. Not even realizing or thinking its wierd they have matching shirts.

Logan not simplifying his english isn't bad writing, it's the character being the character. He is told to bow and does so reluctantly, he repeats the bad omen after being told to stop...he is not a considerate person. It would be a lot weirder to see him tripping over himself to accomodate other people.
Glad you guys realized that this is the best film in the XCU so far. It's super dumb but it's an extremely fun comic book movie, and it being in Tokyo makes it even better to me. No request for the Nick Cage Ghost Rider (NCGRCU) in review this week, let's just appreciate this great bad film.
Just watched this movie for the first time - right after rewatching X-Men Origins and DAMN am I pleasantly surprised. People have undersold this movie for so long, I was going into it expecting an unoffensive but mediocre movie, but this was legitimately good: great cinematography and choreography, good writing and solid performances from almost everyone. Viper was crap and the big robot suit was a step too far, but the rest was super solid.

The reason for Xavier looking like his old self and not being able to walk kinda comes from the comics, but is still stupid. In the movie the body he goes into is his twin brother he put into a coma in the womb. So he basically had a ready made clone body to jump into later. How they kept him alive since the 30s? ... His legs don't work because he has "never used them, before."
I just need Nick and Andy to be on the same page Lyrically.

I need to rewatch the unrated version. Didn’t know there was one. Because when I saw the original I fucking hated it. It was so bad. Not anywhere near as bad as origins. But this wasn’t good. But I’ll give it another show with the unrated version.
kingofzero if you really hated it THAT bad then the unrated version isn’t going to change that. Making it unrated and adding a little extra minute here and there makes it better but it’s not like it changes the story to where you Hated it and now like it.

Baconator is Kevin Bacon from First Class. I just checked that XCU and The Yung Stryker/Sabretooth baddies combo from Wolverine: Origins were very last. Worst than "These fucks from Thor 2". I agree with that.

Like I said a couple weeks ago, this is a movie of doing what these FoX-Men movies do best - focus on Wolverine.
It feels like a real character movie and is actually good, because it cuts all the baggage of being tied to the rest of these trash movies by getting rid of all the other characters and putting Wolverine is a fresh new setting.

Aside from the bit of Logan and Sabertooth fighting throughout history, it's just all sorts of bad.
First Class was pretty decent. Maybe even good. Definitely not great.
Certainly a MASSIVE improvement over X3 and Origins:Wolverine.
The Wolverine is pretty good. It does what these movies do best - focus on Wolverine.

Between First Class and The Wolverine, for a minute there it looked like maybe they were going to fix the X-Men movies and they'd stop being trash.
But then Days Of Future Past came along....
I like how we're still pretending that Days Of Future Past somehow "fixes" the timeline, when in reality DoFP is a complete trash fire. It's not QUITE as bad as Origins:Wolverine, but it's close.
- The ONLY good thing about DoFP is Quicksilver, but he was so powerful that he could've single-handedly solved this whole movie in a matter of minutes....so they sent him home.
- Magneto's powers fluctuate wildly. Sometimes he can't affect the wiring in his cell and the huge metal elevator down the hallway from him, and sometimes he can carry a whole baseball stadium.
- They made a movie ABOUT THE SENTINEL WAR....and instead of SHOWING us the Sentinel War they have Professor X narrate a newspaper article about it. That's a fucking unforgivable sin.
- The modern Sentinels we DO get to see barely get to do anything, they're like half as big as they should be, and they look like Dyson vacuum cleaners.

- The Future Sentinels are lazy knock-offs of the Destroyer from Thor.
- The Future Sentinels' technology being based on Mystique's DNA doesn't make ANY FUCKING SENSE. THAT'S NOT WHAT MYSTIQUE'S POWERS DO. It would've actually made sense if they were based on ROGUE'S DNA, because HER powers are stealing and replicating other mutant's powers. But noooooo.
- They have all sorts of fantastic characters and actors who show up and they are given either nothing to do, or they just casually have them killed off in the background.
- It makes the FoX-Men timeline EVEN MORE of a clusterfuck.
- Kitty having the power to send people through time MAKES NO SENSE. That's not a thing.
- Sending Wolverine back to the crucial moment in time where he only has a matter of days to solve this apocalyptic scenario is the standard dumb as fuck mistake of time travel movies - JUST SEND HIM BACK FURTHER.
- etc etc etc (I genuinely could go on, but that's most of the major stuff that pisses me off.)

That's how quotes work. They're something that has been said before.
And no, DoFP is not great. Not by ANY stretch of the imagination.
If you actually watch the movie and pay attention to it, It's bad. REALLY bad.
It's not nitpicking. It's a terribly made movie.
Other movies have a couple little inconsequential flaws.
Pointing THOSE out is nitpicking.
DoFP is basically nothing BUT flaws, and they're all HUGE flaws in logic and the basic story/plot of the movie, or idiotic storytelling choices, or massive inconsistencies from scene to scene, or characters being wildly misused.
Aside from Origins:Wolverine, DoFP is literally THE worst of all the FoX-Men movies.
The ONLY noteworthy redeeming thing in the entire movie is the Quicksilver scene, which may as well be a cameo from a totally different, wildly superior movie. It doesn't fit in with the dull stupid shit that makes up the rest of this movie, because it's cool and interesting.

The complaints of things not looking the way you’d like, the fact that they gave themselves only a matter of days (it’s a movie would you rather them have no conflict where they have all the time in the world to be able to fail over and over before succeeding) , and the way they do something from mystiques powers that make no sense (when they’ve done this constantly throughout the series like in X-men 1 when she turns into an inanimate object being a Statue of Liberty) so it’s nothing new that should make this movie terrible just because of that.

In Japan, flaunting tattoos is pretty much limited to Yakuza. Many places will refuse to serve anyone with a visible tattoo
bvs is the one other movie I can think of that the extended cut made it better. there's gotta be plenty more tho.
Not a popular take but i actually like this movie more than Logan. I like Logan a lot too but i feel this movie is severely underated. Ending sucks but overall i really love this movie a lot
Technically Wolverines powers could make someone who is elderly appear young again. You get old looking because your body becomes inefficient and falls apart, if that was no longer the case, you'd look like you do at the point of physical maturation. Still looks silly, but if you buy into the super power stuff, it's not any sort of leap

Did I make a huge mistake by watching the original theatrical cut? I've been watching along with the series, and my friend and I both agreed that First Class is number 1 and The Wolverine is one of the worst movies both of us have ever seen. My buddy literally stood up and yelled "Thank fucking god" when the credits rolled... what is going on. (We were laughing during the train scene)

I remember their first intention was to make a rated R Logan-esque movie but then FOX executives showed up to set and were scared they went to far so there was a forced overhaul of how they approached the violence in the movie. Hence, brighter colors, brighter sets, and less blood in the theatrical cut.

The atomic bombs used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were very weak compared to later atomic weapons. They were the first of their kind and the radiation was much less devastating and long lasting to what we usually think of.
I like to watch these on my tv but the static images burn in :( maybe consider changing images on the background and the tv in front to prevent this issue for viewers? :)

Also, why do they heat the adamantine sword to slice Logan's claws. You heat the metal, not the hammer, as a blacksmith.
