Björks has emotional intelligence that always touches me. Listen to the lyrics "It is not meant to be a struggle uphill". Stunning and moving piece of work.
yes…. “you’re trying too hard, surrender. give yourself in, it’s not meant to be a strife” so simple yet beautiful and soul touching about letting go of stress and anxiety and enjoy the present moment, whatever it may be❤

Amazing song..lyrics are so different ..like they're describing that state of mind when you're falling into a deepest dream where you can be what ever you wish for.. That's happened to me and so many people who don't realized the fact that our whole "reality" based on dreams.. Fascinated but Truthful thought..
I was lucky enough to catch her last show in the states for the Vespertine tour. As someone who is 33 and listening to Bjork since 12 or so I stand by my feeling this song is possibly her best work...
I remember that Björk in the late 90 s once said that her main motivation would be to try to make the perfect song. Well, i think she has made a few outstanding songs but this one is truly the absolute perfection. How it's build up, the melody, the lyrics, the choral and of course her voice. But perhaps more important: It catches me wherever i am and pulls me out of any situation,at least for a moment. For me this is one of the best songs ever made,it always gives me goosebumps
This song has many little details and nuances, it feels like there is always something dazzingly beautiful growing and breathing in the background. The subtle string crescendo that happens at 2:28 and 2:44 is definitely my favorite thread in this gorgeous fabric. The love put into these beats is truly mesmerizing
Just remember you’ve made it through every hard thing, every hard experience, every painful emotion, everything that you have experienced so far in your life. So you can do this, whatever it is. I know it.
This song envelopes you with true emotions and a guarding wall made of love. It's almost physically heartbreaking to listen. Once in a lifetime experience of divine sounds and voices. Everything around just stops in this very moment.
I remember being so stoned listening to this song and I swear to god I had a euphoric out of body experience Everytime I listened to this song… To this day nothing will ever beat that feeling I had that day.. It was absolutely beautiful.
Vespertine is not my favourite album from her (I love Homogenic, Biophilia and Medúlla a bit more) and I don't consider it her best accomplishment, but I truly understand people who think so (that are many): this album explodes in its shyness and inhibition, and has so so much to offer... it's an orgasmic experience from beginning to end, and this song is arguably the best in there. So fantastic I cannot even believe!
I have a mix CD that explores themes of life and death. This piece follows Tool's Wings Part. 2. I'm crying from Maynard's eulogy and then i cry even harder at Bjork's cathartic melody and beauty.
I think the bell at 2:20 is my favourite sound in music right now. I don't know much about music but it feels like it brings all the disparate elements into harmony
My personal review of "Undo" by Björk "Undo" begins with a nostalgic feeling, evoking a memory that feels both distant and strangely familiar. I feel that the opening notes seem to tap into a past that you can't quite place, creating an atmosphere where the sunset casts a warm, golden light on a flat, scaly mountain. The landscape feels ancient and timeless, like a place you've visited in dreams. Time flows differently here, accelerating and pulling you along as if trying to show you all its secrets at once. Around 1:50 minutes into the song, the reverb crescendo starts to build, wrapping around you like a comforting blanket. The bells resonate deeply, each chime echoing in your soul and pulling you further into this dreamlike state. The world around you begins to morph and change, with colors blooming and intensifying in a kaleidoscopic display. Night falls, but instead of bringing darkness, it lifts you into the sky, where a full, bright blue moon hangs surrounded by fluffy white clouds, reminiscent of the whimsical DreamWorks intro. In this ethereal journey, you come to the profound realization that you are your own star. This inner star begins to glow, filling you with a radiant light that elevates you through time and space. You soar among the clouds, the moon, and the stars, experiencing a sense of magic akin to Tinker Bell's flight. The feeling of euphoria is overwhelming, as the choir and strings create a swirling, celestial symphony that carries you higher and higher, out of the clouds. The moon's reflection feels like a tender kiss on every part of your body, each touch enhancing the surreal sensation of being at one with the universe. The music continues to build, with each layer adding to the sense of being in a boundless, ethereal space. The choir's voices intertwine with the strings, creating a rich tapestry of sound that envelops you completely. You feel as if you are floating in a sea of stars, each one pulsing with life and energy. As the song reaches its conclusion, there is a gentle reminder to return to the ground. The guitar introduces an earthy element, its notes guiding you back from the celestial heights. Each strum of the guitar feels like a step down a staircase made of stars, gradually bringing you back to earth. The ending notes create a darkening vignette around you, with each tone deepening the shadow until you are fully enveloped in darkness. This descent is soothing, a transition from the dreamscape back to reality, culminating in a gentle awakening.
I've been listening to this track for the past 6 yrs and I still can't get d beats in the first half of the song right 😥 It's so darn intricate!! Are there two sets of beats layered on top of each other?
It's in 4/4 but the kicks and percussion are nudged by 16th triplets in either direction. Not exactly what's going on but I'd have to write an essay to be more precise. Matmos produced this album, you can get a better feel for their style by checking out their solo work
@@imDezrt Thanks! Love Matmos and what they do. This particular track was co-written with Opiate..he included an instrumental of this in one of his records. Tried listening to that to get some clues.. didn't work 😕 Very interesting rhythmic pattern..sounded like a sample from a printer/photocopy machine. His work on Cocoon is brilliant too!
Although her beautiful words are applicable to almost any stressful situation, does anyone else think that the proximate meaning is creating the album on the computer?
Hello my love. I'm going to Iceland in two weeks. If you are there please tell me how to fall in love with this beautiful culture. I've been everywhere, Egypt India Sri Lanka. I'm looking forward to a colder climate
One of the best songs for life advice. It's a cure for self sabotage.
Thank you for ur words

Preach 👏🏽
I wanted to say "I'm trying to learn", which only indicates that I need to listen again instead.
Couldn't say it better
I'm not even sure why but the choir at the end always makes me cry my eyes out. I think it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
Same, It’s like heaven to me.
Because it is the most beautiful thing you've ever heard !
The harp(?) at the end makes me bawl every time
This is one of those songs I can only describe as "soul-healing".
good choice of words, totally agree.
The same kind of soul-healing as Homebody by Nai Palm
Why does my husband just don't get this?
Yes, it's a beautiful song about non-striving. Very healing for the soul and mind...
That's called gospel music. Like TOOL, or Tom Waits, or Elvis or Hank Williams or Funkadelic.
The entire album is a masterpiece of music music.
Yes yes absolutely
Her best
This song saved many lives.
I rode out an opiate addiction to this song. I would lie on the floor in childs pose and listen to it on repeat. Thank you, Bjork
I decided to change a career path I was unhappy with after listening to it. Have never regret that decision.
The power of music through you.

This is one of the very few songs that almost always gives me watery eyes, and occasionally makes me cry.
The choral work at 3:20 tho... The work of a genius.
That's the emotional peak for me in the song. It never fails to make me get teary eyed.
