My mom always talks about Georgetown(and tells me I’m a Georgetown Guyanese lol )-but loved watching this. because my dad always talks about Berbice where he grew up
Very lovely to see, if only they could cover the fish/shrimps with a plastic sheet to prevent the flies and maybe a 25 gallon bucket for all the s cuttings from the fish to keep things covered and minimize the flies and potential disease. But very nice to see all the fish and fruit and veggies. Yes, please save the turtle. Guyana 4 Ever
Market well develop compared to those days when I lived short time in New Amsterdam I used to go every Saturday, if ever in future I visit Guyana will surely take a peek at this market. Thank you
Beautiful new Amsterdam Market lots of im prove ment from the last time I visited 20 10 keep it up peoples lovely produce vegetables fruits fishes poultry eat great im looking forward to visit soon .
What was the name of that weird looking fish you were asking about? Sounded like "sea fowler" or something. Also, thank you so much for these videos. My mother loves your cooking tips, but we're now hooked on the videos going around Guyana. Brings back memories for her.
I thought I heard the girl said it was Sea Congol, but someone commented and said it is Sea Congo Happy to hear your Mom is enjoying the videos and likes the cooking ❤
Why don't they keep the fish alive in water until someone wants to buy it? Or maybe put them in some ice. I hate to see the flies all over fish and meat like that.
The fish is freshly caught and the meat is from freshly slaughtered animals.Mostly sold out in a short space of time.Trust me it is all good .Btw I am vegetarian.
You just talking nonsense, have you traveled the whole of Guyana to know that, or have you taken a poll ?. Maybe in Berbice, definitely not all Guyanese.
Why should I know that? Guyana is not an Urdu speaking country. Berbice is probably the only place in Guyana where it is called Anar. In the West Demerara where I am from it is only called Pomegranate, pronounced ' Pongramma" and I never heard it called Anar until I went to that market.
Thanks for sharing your video.... everything about the market just amazing...maybe I notice a little too much about the chicken table where the chicken looks too large for natural growth... chicken steroid injection fatten and speed up the growth....
I was about to ask one of those sexy women with the gorgeous curvy shape that I saw in the beginning of the video in their sexy dress for a date but I quickly realised that it was just a mannequin gosh those mannequin tricked me
Gawd damn dat fish market must stink like shit..lol. Sad to think in this day and age they still sell under those century old conditions. Great video, I hope to get back home before I pass away. Even tho I now live in Canada and have for over 50yrs, I will always call Guyana Home.
Thanks a lot for this Gentlemen. This brings back so many memories. Brings water to my eye.

Seemingly people are happy with their lives. Anybody please explain why.
it's a Guyanese thing... doesn't matter where they are.

Hi guys brazil na área
Very nice @duranes
Pomegranate is called Anaar in the Hindi language.
Should of flip the turtle upright.
I was thinking the same
They have the turtle that way so turtle would not walk away
I said the same thing..turtle head probably swinging..
Save the turtle
Eu tenho um filho com o nome Amsterdam .
Rosineide Nunes,coitadinho kkkkkkk
Awesome video, but it seems to have more sellers than buyers.
Brazil
Its not good to buy fish exposed like that, no ice.
Fresh catch from the river to the market needs no ice
Anaar is the Urdu name .
The lady trying to sell you a nice big trout
Yes she was, good deal too but we had a long drive ahead.
So sorry I could not buy it from her.
Why don't they keep the fish alive in water until someone wants to buy it? Or maybe put them in some ice. I hate to see the flies all over fish and meat like that.
Yes totally agree. Flies carry lots of germs and and get ppl sick..
Market inprove
Yes it has, thanks for watching.
Please save the turtle 🐢😢
Where are the Indian..back in the lot of
Alan D no way 😳 Guyana is cleaner lol
Its really troubling to see the fish vendors dont have their fish on ice. By the time you purchase the fish its spoilt.
Not true...most people buy fish in the morning when it's fresh...a true Guyanese knows when the fish is no good and not to buy
The fish is freshly caught and the meat is from freshly slaughtered animals.Mostly sold out in a short space of time.Trust me it is all good .Btw I am vegetarian.
You must be American or some other north American country Any true west indian knows the fish is always fresh.
Bird pepper
Ryan Ramroop
Anar is the Hindi name for Pomegranate......boi hole a guyana kno dat.....chupz
You just talking nonsense, have you traveled the whole of Guyana to know that, or have you taken a poll ?. Maybe in Berbice, definitely not all Guyanese.
Big difference after 30 years boy
Freshwater fish
Now oil ...sorry 👍

The person that doing the video doesn't know .. Ann..ar and he's a Guyanese ? Haha
Why should I know that? Guyana is not an Urdu speaking country.
Berbice is probably the only place in Guyana where it is called Anar.
In the West Demerara where I am from it is only called Pomegranate, pronounced ' Pongramma" and I never heard it called Anar until I went to that market.
MAF welcomes women for fishing
