  • In his Capitol Records prime, Mims grabbed onto the reigns of his own industry and record label career with his breakout "This Is Why I'm Hot" smash hit. But as the realities of the rap game set in, he pivoted to a new direction in the tech world, which came with new challenges and a new role from rap maven to minority.

I opened a show once for Mims in my city of San Diego. He liked my set, so he called me back up on stage to perform "This Is Why I'm Hot" with him. It was the first time I had ever felt validation from anyone outside the city and from someone who had made it big. He doesn't realize this, but it was a life changing moment for me, because it was the first time I realized I could really be something. I love him for that, and have looked up to him ever since. Now, I write songs for majors and I run my own indie label and publishing company. HUGE shout to MIMS, I have no doubt that he will continue to be a massive success in the tech world !

The acronym of his name fits him EXTREMELY well!! I definitely liked "This is why I'm hot" song when it was being played in the clubs!! It just goes to show you that if the industry plans on "evolving" the way it is and how it conducts business then artists will remain lost without proper guidance. Executives will only be your friend if you're successful. It's like dealing with fake friendships, will never be by your side at your dirt lowest point in your life. Major labels are good but they're heartlessly deceptive in the end of the day. Going independent is better because the returns are greater and you'll have much LESS headaches to deal with when it comes to marketing an album, album production etc. Just really make sure that you're ready to deal with the pros and cons when stepping in. Rip to his parents.

That's a REAL dude right there!! What I mean when I say this is...when pretty much every single "famous" person says anything along the lines of " I do this for the people I care about most...My fans...The money and fame is just a plus." However their actions show different 99.999% of the time. The fact that he wanted to keep things at low cost...made me glad t6 see how down to earth he is. Like he doesn't just care about money. He understands money don't grow on trees. Also...I love how he just sees himself as a regular dude and doesn't want or expect to be treated any differently than a regular person with a 9-5 job. This video probably gets at least 100 comments a day...So the chances that MIMS or anyone connected to him will see my comment...If by just pure luck MIMS or his partners do see this...MIMS I have sooo much respect for you! You remain humble and totally didn't let the "fame bug" bite you. MUCH RESPECT!
