Yes, The total length of my leader on the rod was 10’6” there was a Shark on the line and then went slack which almost always means the Sharks tail touched the braid and instantly cuts it. What I think happened this time is another shark actually bit the Braid above the leader! The Sharks skin is so abrasive that just rubbing against braided line when it is under tension will fray the line! Using a longer rod keeps the braid up higher than a shorter rod especially if the bait is more than 50yds out, But the shorter rods are better for fighting a big Shark or Ray!
We used to bring some fish home but not for the past few years, We pack light and don’t bring a cooler big enough to put fish in anymore. Thanks again for Watching!!
They are related to the Pompano but get much bigger, But those are mostly off the beach in deeper water. Those fish can weigh 30lb to 50lb but the ones in the surf are much smaller and more similar to a pompano in size and will come in very close to eat the the sand fleas. She has caught less than 10 Permit and all were less than 2lbs, They are very good looking fish!
The 2 Pompano she caught were so Totally White that we thought at least one was a Permit, Thanks for Watching!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️

She sometimes catches the permit but not very often and that 1st pompano was so bright white with no yellow on it so we thought it was a permit
