  • There needs to be more games like this... that destigmatize the mentally ill and humanize them. I regret not having played this game sixteen years ago... and I can't wait to begin playing the sequel, when I get back on vacation. Special thanks to Gaming University for supplying this video. Thank you very much for the awesome video. I really enjoyed the math comparison as that's how my brain thinks. I'm sure a lot of the other viewers of this channel did as well. Looks like you got yourself a new subscriber!

I wonder how long to get to the last mental patients world it’s the first game

I never really got the fuss over the first game, but Psychonauts 2 managed to finally give me a new appreciation for it. I think Milla's vault is still the darkest and saddest thing in the game, and it really added to the depth of what seemed like the cheeriest character.

Pasychonauts 2 was my first experience in this franchise, and I was really impressed at how deep the game goes (literally and metaphorically) into people's trauma. I didn't think I would end up crying at certain points in this game due to relating or empathizing with these wacky cartoons, but I sure did.
Such well crafted characters, I wish I had grown up with the first game but I'm glad I found it now.

This video saved my soul. The end of the video sent me down a long rabbit hole of my own self limiting beliefs. I've awakened. Good luck to all reading this on your own journey. May we cross paths.

Dear dean of the Gaming University,
I really love your videos (including this one) and want to thank you for analyzing the characters of the Psychonauts franchise and their mental worlds.
On top of entertaining me, your videos did indeed help understand myself a little better.
Thank you and best of luck to you.
P.S: I like to see those function equations as coin grinding machines at tourist traps. You know, where you insert a coin (x), crank the machine to grind it up (put x in f(x) ) to get a badge (y)

Never heard of the game, and the artstyle definitely wouldn't be my thing, but the plot and subject matter in the game is quite fascinating...

I would have usually assumed this was a kids game, because of the style of art but it does sound very interesting and deep.

hey buddy, first of all lemme say thank you for the great videos. I was impressed by argueably your best video, the most profound moment in gaming, and there are many other great ones from your catalog. I'd like to give a suggestion of a game that I haven't seen you talking about it (maybe you did because I didn't watch all of your videos, if so, sorry). There is a PS1 game called Xenogears, which has a really deep story. And has elements of psychology, religion, ethics, philosophy, and many others. It's a great journey to play it and try to understand it. So, if you haven't played it, check it out if you want. Thanks again for the great work and I hope everything is ok with you.

'the root of all equations in algebra', if there is such a thing, is x*y=z. For instance, calculus is the algebra of continuous functions on the operations of differentiation and integration. You learn there for instance that f(x)+g(x)=(f+g)(x).
This is a more mature view f the mind as well. The moment you said that the mind map may be affected by external causes, you basically stated that it's not really a correct map. The true description is that there is some operator that combines elements to produce new elements.
There is some work in philosophy of mind and language that tries to discover properties of such operators. The operators themselves are difficult to discover.
For instance, linguistically there is some operator on words. If you take two words 'red' and 'velvet' you can produce with said operator the word 'red velvet'.
There is also some discussion on something similar with operators on mind states

He's decided to put it off or took a break because if you know him on his channel, he won't upload something unless he can provide an unconsidered, original take or perspective on something. Max would bring something that was largely missed, overlooked, or misunderstood and he further elucidates on it. I hope that answers your inquiry sufficiently.

I never understood why this game was so hyped. I'm not really a fan of the visuals because its just too many colors and different art styles blended into one game and it throws me off alot. But the story seems way interesting and dark.
