    He says, "I'm gonna go back and wack that tree cuz its 'UGLY'"! But gee, the tree always spoke highly of YOU! Listen, that cutter has some power, has NO FEAR and leaves a good looking landscape with NO SIGNS of having been there! TONY SOPRANO would have LOVED IT! Thanks BOSS!

    I was having the same issue with my cutter. It felt like a balancing trouble. I bought a digital scale from HF and weighed my blades. I found that 2 blades were lighter by 4 to 6 oz from all the resharpening I've done to them over the years. So I ground all the heavy blades down to match the other 2 and all the vibration disappeared, so much so that I had check that the mower was running. Night and day difference. From there on out, when I resharpen, I weight each blade so they're identical weight.

    Wow what a difference a high flow skid-steer paired to a brush cutter makes! No spun down or lag in the cutting. Cleanup machine extraordinaire.

  • @Andrezzz2u
    @Andrezzz2u ปีที่แล้ว +5

    If ya weld a couple hooks on the top front corners of deck (open side facing you), you can pull a lot of those vines down from the trees then mulch them up, did it to most of our cutters, you won't regret it.. Keep up the good work. 👍

  • @gimpy8349
    @gimpy8349 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Absolutely love my skid steer mower. It’s a standard flow rated for 18gpm. My SS runs at 17.4. Two tips for you. Mine also vibrates at low speed but smooths out at higher rpm’s. It will never be perfect especially once you start sharpening the blades. Two tips: bring a cordless angle grinder so you can sharpen if you hit something and make sure you clean out all of the nooks and crannies inside and out. Leaves, pine needles and twigs get EVERYWHERE and they are a potential fire hazard

    I would think that the bolts should be the same length. Even though that is a small amount of difference, the further from the center of rotation, the greater the affect it could have. I would also have thought that those four blades would have some ability to swivel. Centrifugal force would keep them out, but hitting something hard, they could rotate and give in a little. Great job.... Cheers! Mike

    • @bluegrallis
      @bluegrallis ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree 100% on both counts. Stiff blades can get stuck folded in when they hit something hard and cause a LOT of vibration. They NEED to swivel freely!

  • @genesispuredeaf2390
    @genesispuredeaf2390 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I would ask the dealer but I think the wobble is from having the bolts tight enough that the blades are not spinning out purely from momentum. They will wobble just on the blades not being equal weight (due to chipping damage) but higher speeds will sort this out.
    You want them to have a little “give” so that the first blade might adjust back a bit bit the motor speed isn’t affected and the following blades catch anything not cut…the rotary speed will have the first blade immediately fully extended. If the “hit” is a stone or rock, it will still shoot out like a missile but won’t go as far or hit its unintended target with the same velocity.
    The exception might be if you are planning on grinding down stumps or hitting a lot of 3” or larger caliper trees In that scenario, you might get better chopping. Still the shock burden on the motor and gear box could be a concern …from a longevity maintenance perspective.
    Definitely clean after use to prevent build up….heat is a bitch on parts and as you said, these can make fire with friction.

  • @qcan8468
    @qcan8468 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think the OEM use castle nuts so you can leave the blade bolt slightly loose and use a cotter pin to keep the nut from backing off. The loose bolts allow the blades to swing; a very important feature as it lessens the shock load on the expensive gear box.

    My vote would be the different size bolts. Ran a brush cutter for 25 years it dosnt take much to have them get out of balance. Wait tell you brake a blade it will shake your teeth right out of you. We went to flail mowers the rotary threw to much stuff flails don’t throw as much can’t really operate a rotary in urban areas safely.😮

      Vibration is probable in something like that. It is hard to keep blades perfectly balanced especially when they start to wear. I would worry about any change/increase in the amount of vibration. The way the cutters are attached it seems likely that you will find over time the need to replace them. I would be interested to see what happens if you hit a rock.

  • @sassafrasvalley1939
    @sassafrasvalley1939 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Boss man, that mower is gonna make your life so much easier. It almost makes it a pleasure to clean out brush… well… compared to a chainsaw and a weed whacker!!
    Was that an 80” wide cut?
    It doesn’t take long for field edges to creep out on you. My neighbor and I spent two weekends cleaning out around an 80 acre hay field. It had been about 6 years… and we gained about 12 feet or so back around three sides. The fourth side is the creek and he is letting it bush out to stop erosion. If we would’ve had that cutter, we could have cleared it before lunch!
    Thanks bud.

    You have to back up and let the head pick back up speed, then go back in!
